  1. That Revros is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeettttt!!!! : Looks a bit like my Capricorn...
  2. ...that would be "opinion" or "first hand experience" ??? ;D ;D ;D
  3. Muddy, the only reason I posted is that I know you are a "floogr" fan, and the Supreme and the Summit have the UBS breaking system: a combination of centrifugal and magnetic, wich is adjustable. Anyhow, there might be somebody "out there" who could use the info...
  4. I do not own BC reels with centrifugal breaking system. I own only reels with magnetic break and here is what I do with the ones I have: >I take advantage of a day with some wind (say 5-10mph) and and find the "comfort zone" of that reel(good distance, no nests). I start out with the break at maximum, make a couple casts accross and in the wind (I use something fairly aerodynamic, with some weight to it, like a T-rigged worm). >Than turn the break off one "click", and repeat the procedure. When "professional overruns " apear frequently, I make a note of the setting. That is my staring point. >Depending on conditions (increase in wind speed, lighter lure, different lure profile, etc) I will increase the breakig setting, or decrease it( heavier lure, less windy, etc). I adjust the settings as often as needed during a day of fishing. That's why I chose to stick with reels that have external spool breaking adjustment (mostly Daiwa) Iff you found your "comfort zone", stick with it Hope it helps
  5. Dully noted... Great post ! On the other side, beeing a new BR member doesn't mean "novice fisherman". I will specify in the future if the post is "my opinion" or "my experience" , and you guys judge if it 's worth taking in consideration. Tight lines
  6. If for the most time you will be fishing crankbaits, St Croix Avid has a "crankbait series": http://www.reedssports.com/Product/product.taf?_function=detail&_ID=4197 It has a moderate action, though. It looses some of the sensitivity, and it's not as good as AC66MF for techniques that require a sensitive rod. If you allready have combo for soft plastics, jigs, etc and would like one for CBs, go with AC66MM. Just my $.02
  7. The only thing is that the more beat up a lure is the better it catche fish, so I don't want it fixed. That's just my $.02 Thanx for the offer,though...
  8. Good info on spoons for open water fishing !!! Gotta try it this summer. The spoon I most often use it's the Johnson Silver Minow with a plastic trailer, works great in and around weeds and wood.
  9. If it's a MH power rod , it should work. But most people preffer a faster action rod(mod-fast or fast). If it's a medium power, might not have the backbone to set the hook efficiently . BTW what brand, power and action is the rod you are talking about?
  10. With the free rod thrown in the deal is good (sorry, I didn't click on the link), to bad you can't pick any lenght, power+action you want. I still feel that at full price, Kistler rods are overpriced.
  11. What model is the Daiwa rod ???
  12. http://www.animatedknots.com/rapala/index.php Hope the link works...
  13. Hmmm... I dont know. I have no idea how the water "looks",but based on water temp and the fact that it's below a dam (current), here is what I would try (besides what you allready did): >Drop shot rig: 3" minow immitator soft plastic (white or with white in it) at 6-12" off the bottom. >Crappie tubes, minnow color on 1/8 jig head >4" finess worm rigged "trick worm " style or drop shot >1/4 oz "Road runner" crawled slowly allong the bottom >spoons/ blade baits The main issue is FINDING them. "Basses" in cold water don't like current that much, they like barely moving water( or not at all) , but close to current. I would try the front eddy and the calmer water behind the current obstruction/point. Look for the deeper spots in a certain area. Hope it helps...
  14. ... Black contrasts well against a night sky. Generally, during the day it offers too much contrast and looks unnatural. .. Than why on earth would (allmost) every basser that fishes jigs carry a bunch of BLACK & BLUE jigs? How about black/blue flake worms, tubes ,etc ... :
  15. Mostly 1/4 and 3/8 oz, but depending on situation i'll go down to 1/8 and up to 1/2. If I want to go deeper, I'll put a smaller blade on a 1/2 oz SB.
  16. Mostly rapalas and rattle-traps, with a couple other ones thrown in the mix...

I swim a white jig with a "glow" Mister twister" grub as a trailer every fall with good results. yes,it works out better if you let the fish turn, than load up on the rod like you would fish a crankbait.
  18. I think it was Roland Martin, and he recomanded using something more "streamlined" plastics for heavy veggies. I think he was using tubes. If there are openings in the mats, fish every one of them; you never know where have they set the "dinner table". There was annother show( or was it an article?) where the fisherman went allong with a long pipe with a "rake" opening holes in the matted vegetation on a longer strech of water, then after an hour or so started fishing them in the same order as he opened them.It worked. Hope it helps...
  19. It deppends when and where. Usually, my goal is a limit of keepers. that's a good day. If at least one is 3+lb, it's a great day. If I just catch some, it's OK. I hate SKUNKS.
  20. I have a pair for about 3 years now, and they hold up good for the money. I keep them rolled up and use them only if needed( rain catches me on the water). I never went out fishing on rain hoping that I'm not gonna get wet at all, but it's a great "emmergency" rain suit. Works great as a windbreaker, too. If you are a "just for fun" fisherman, and don't mind seeking shelter if the rain doesn't stop for hours , go for it. If you plan on participating in some tourneys, buy Goretex. and deffinitely get the ones with the BIBS !!!
  21. Medium power. You don't need MH for surface, shallow or medium divers...
  22. For over $300 you should look at a Loomis !
  23. I suppose you mean "a short fishing pole", not "a short fishing pole)...
  24. Congatulations Raul !!! Very nice way to learn about the most knowlegeble and respected forum members, LBH !
