  1. I usually do the whole pull the line semi tight snap it and see if it comes off the snag.
  2. Don't forget if you can see them they can see you too. Not saying it did but always a factor to remember shallow.
  3. I love these posts cause a picture of someones organized personal tackleshop in their house or garage gets posted and I love to see em lol.
  4. Ah after doing a google search. do they look like a giant inline spinner with a buzz blade and a tube attached?
  5. I just did a box of wheel waits in my lee pot last week, not the one with the spout but the open one. I had some steel ones mixed in that i just tossed out but I was able to skin and pour ingots that turned out fairly well. I've poured a few jigs with em and havent had an issue yet. Like said before take your time and flux it and you should be good.
  6. Did they say if they could make you any?
  7. Your to close to Chicago lol. They were a buck here in Ottawa.
  8. if Barlows dont have it it doesnt exist lol
  9. I was playing with my grub mold and decided to try a different color combo. I'm sure its out there somewhere else but figured id give greenpumpkin with a blue tail a shot on my grubs. I shot the tails with soft plastic then when I shot the bodies I added some hardener so that the body where the hook is would be a bit tougher and maybe not rip as easily after a few fish. I'm hoping to go try em out soon I'm sure they will spark the interest in a few fins lol
  10. One thing I havent seen much talk about is length of leader. If you want that bait above the grass you gotta know how high it needs to be on that mono line to get up there otherwise to short and your in the grass.
  11. Yes sir I bought a dozen of the heddon puppys from mine. I grabbed every one they had in their bin.
  12. They bring in good money in the right colors and authentic pre rapala. The way everybody talks about em sounds like they are only worth throwing in the ozark lakes.
  13. You might get into it build one and decide you like it and next thing you got a big box from mudhole full of blanks and eyes and a new lathe on the way to start building handles lol.
  14. Had my new boat out for the 3rd time on tuesday. Was in a river that I've only ever run once before. Was headed back to the ramp and was a quarter mile from there and I missed the channel swing and hit a rock bar. So had to stop by the dealer and buy a new prop for the brand new boat lol.
  15. Crankbaits: I'm a bandit fan. Top water: I'm a heddon fan. Spooks in all sizes. Walmart had a bin full of the puppies in all different colors for a buck a piece the otherday. I grabbed every one they had out of their.
  16. I go until the doubt enters my head. The second your fishing with one bait and thinking about another you'll never fish the one on your line to its potential so switch em out.
  17. I found a deal on tuff tainers at gander mountain at 4 for 14. I think I bought 4 packs of 4 so i got 16 of em. They work awesome and I love I dont have to sit and break the dividers apart they are already individual.
  18. Berkley has their own website where you can buy their stuff in bulk.
  19. I've given up on alot of brands and buy them sparingly but if you want the best bang for your buck check out ebay. I use ebay and a couple forums for sale sections to find awesome deals. I was buying 100 packs of 4 inch and 5 inch grubs for 20 bucks a bag. Alot of these guys that are pouring their own are just as good as the brands and they are just trying to keep the hobby going and not to worried about making a profit. Plus you find color combos you dont see everywhere.
  20. I agree WRB, I'm just saying I've heard "go small" pushed alot when this discussion comes up over the years.
  21. Agreed. I just got out of stock car racing bought a fishing boat and am relaxing now lol
  22. Just remember that over the years a lot of anglers have been here and a lot of other forums being told they need to get smaller and finesse the fish out. Over the years that has been the common thinking so fishing something small you might just be back to where you were before and fishing what everybody else is cause the finesse approach has been pushed so much over many years now. Might want to try something bigger or different reaction baits to try to get instinct strikes from fish that have seen every finesse presentation already. Just my thought.
  23. I've heard guys swear by it and heard guys say it was a gimmick. And there has been a pattern. Guys that are fishing big impoundments down south where the spots really school up are swearing by it. The guys that are in the shallow stuff flipping and pitching in the marshes and shallow grass say they are a gimmick. They definitely arent magic boxes they are just another tool that used right will help your chances in connecting with a fish.
  24. That transducer doesnt really have a direction. It only shoots signals straight down so if its turned backwards but your still moving forward its still sending signals down and will show the picture on the head unit for you.
