  1. Has anybody tried the skirt material at BPS. I got the "skirt factory" one and i think its horrible. The strands all stick together and is difficult to work with. Think ill stick with barlows
  2. lol yeah your probably right
  3. Yeah thats what has me confused cause i bought this lead from BPS so there shouldnt be anything in it, but i must have got the one that did lol
  4. Hey guys i was wondering if you have seen this. The other day i was melting some lead in my hot pot and poured a jig head and went to work on the jig i just poured. The pot was still on because i was still gonna pour more heads. When i came back to my pot it was covered in what looked like mold. It was a bunch of green bulps that were growing in the pot. I tried scraping it all off but it would all come back on the top of the lead quickly. Unfortunatly i couldnt find the camera to show you guys what was happening, but has anybody had anything like this happen before?
  5. very nice man they look really good. Ive always wondered how everybody does that scale effect on the side. Im looking to paint a few cranks myself and would like to try that. I see your in champaign i go to school just down the road in bloomington.
  6. filled all the slots and all of them came out complete! way better then what ive been able to do with that mold lol. nice job
  7. just goes to show some people will buy anything on ebay lol
  8. im reading this and trying to think of the brands that havent been mentioned. I came up with Smithwick and Zoom, and gamakatsu. Only ones i can come up with that everybody else have not mentioned problems with. As for what i dont like, Stren line and Berkley Vanish. Vanish frays way to easy it seems like to me. And not just at the bait i had to keep pulling line off till half the spool was empty before i found good line on the spool. As far as baits there not really any brands more just baits. Like i like the yum wooly hawg tail, but i hate the crawbug. Other then that i havent really had a problem with many other brands.
  9. i honestly dont trust any of them. Ive heard to many stories about them coming undone with a fish on. I bought a storm wiggle wart that comes with one of those clips and put a split ring on it before i ever used it.
  10. I learned how to fish jigs over the last couple years and grew confidence with them, but was worried about going broke from loosing them and having to buy more. This year i got into making my own and it definitly changes your mental picture. If you break off you arent worried about it cause you know you got a whole box of them that you made. You pay the money for the molds melting pots but usually hte molds are just a one time cost. Something to look into once you really get into the jigs.
  11. this has to be the first fishing forum where that word P*TA isnt blocked by the language filters lol.
  12. i was wondering if you couldnt drill the whole and dropp some BB in and then use a dowl rod to cap off the end like whittle was showing in his "Poor Mans Pointer" post.
  13. Yum Wooly Hogtail is my favorite. Ive had fish of all sizes hit it consistently.
  14. BPS 3 or 3.5 inch craws
  15. BassChaser- I am using the smaller one the size 8. I was catching good frying pan size blue gill on it. I know the first time i pulled a bluegill up on the xrap i couldnt believe it. But they were absolutly hammering this thing. What ever the xrap has that ticks off bass, it must tick off the blue gill just as bad.
  16. I love the xrap its just every time i use it i catch more sauger than bass! lol but thats just the body of water i use it on the most. Ive also caught alot of blue gill on it as well.
  17. is there any websites out there that demonstrate some of these methods with pictures and everything? If not man i would think somebody will eventually lol
  18. cool thanks! Ive been really interested in starting to carve these and keep finding mixed answers on how people hang the hooks. I hear alot of people say they use the eyes like what is sitting on your plate above the baits and ive heard some say they wire them in, although i cannot find any demonstrations on the web of how that is done. Im sure once i get a couple done it will come easier
  19. I just started this year myself and i was able to get everything i needed from netcraft and barlows. I got all the molds and hooks and weedguards from netcraft and went to barlows for the skirt making materials. Its addicting once you start. Im already looking into making spinner baits and crankbaits lol
  20. absolutly awsome man! did you pour it and eveything? How did you do those eyes? can you get those some place?
  21. where do you get the wire to make the hook hangers
  22. is there anything diamond plate cant do lol
  23. I like those skirt tabs they work great. I just made a bunch of skirts for my first batch of flipping jigs i made. Just wish i had the money to order a big bulk of them cause i went through what i ordered quick
  24. Snapperd1 i tried what you did before as well. The thing is i will get full heads with no hooks in the cavities, but then ill put hooks in and pour the same way and not get full heads.
  25. if bait making is the addiction that must be the anti drug or something
