When is time for new bearings?
When your trailer tires pass you on the highway I check mine every year. If they look loose in the carrier, I replace them. I would rather replace them at a time and place of my choosing then on the side of the highway in the rain.

Fins vs Jets Predictions 9/26
Man, the fins climbed back into the game only to cave in at the end. That long pass play to Edwards was the killer, J Allen slipped in the sod and there it went. Some of those wildcat play calls seemed to stall a couple of drives. If they would have let Henne air it out more, the outcome might have been different. What has happened to Ricky Williams? He seems to fumble in every game. He coughed it up last year too. I think he is finally done. The fins are close, but the Jets are a better team right now. We will see how it all shakes out.

Fins vs Jets Predictions 9/26
The Fins beat them in both meetings last season. This time around they are playing in Miami with their two best defensive players on the sideline. Revis and NT Kris Jenkins. Both offenses have struggled. I think it will be a battle of field goals and field position.

Fins vs Jets Predictions 9/26
I think the Fins win a defensive battle. 19 - 16

late eightie's merc xr-2 150? Good motor?
You should never run your motor without at least 12 PSI water pressure at WOT (wide open throttle) My motor runs 22-25 psi at WOT, and 10-12 PSI at idle. After you have installed the new impeller, if your water pressure is low, you will need to check your engine height on the transom. The motor or jack plate might be up to high and need to be lowered. If the boat has a hydraulic jack plate, do not raise it too high, you will starve the motor of cooling water.

late eightie's merc xr-2 150? Good motor?
If the boat does not have a working water pressure gauge, this is a must have item. It is more important than a temperature gauge-which usually give false readings, or waiting for a overheat alarm which could be damaging to the motor.

late eightie's merc xr-2 150? Good motor?
Follow fishfordollards advice to the letter, he is shooting it to you straight. I have a 1987 Merc 150. They are outstanding engines if they are always properly maintained. Runs great, plenty of power, sucks lots of gas. You should change the water pump housing and impeller, and get the carbs rebuilt if you go ahead with the sale. Peace of mind. A lean cylinder due to a dirty or poorly adjusted carb or a overheated motor due to low water pressure or worn out impeller will destroy the motor in literally seconds. Rebuilt motors are 3K+

The Alley
It didn't! Two dinks and a big fat zero with a BAD ATTITUDE! :-[ i fished the big fish tourny at the holey lands today. caught around 30 fish, but the problem was they were all 14 inches long. i caught one 3 pounder. a 6.7 won and i believe there were 2 guys who had 5 pounders. the water is moving way to fast for any of my spots to work. fished the west canal and all of my fish were caught behind the pads on a shakey head. the 3 pounder came in the east canal on a carolina rigged ace. the water was ripping everywhere we went. tough bite. The water is high but it's been higher for sure. I think it's the movement that's the problem-that's my story and I'm sticking to it. To the Lake for a T next weekend I have seen the docks under 3 feet of water. With the water ripping, it is more like river fishing.

Lox 9/12
Nice catching. Sounds like a great day. Lox can be really excellent. With the higher water, how is the hydrilla? I haven't been out there in a couple of months.

Lox 9/12
the bearing on my connecting rod ceased up. 3 grand later my engine should be running like a dream. That really hurt$! ouch. Better keep it under 6000 RPM for now on

The Alley
I just talked to a buddy who told me that he caught a 8lb bass today at the holeylands. He was fishing the east canal. Look for running water.

Would you fight a honey badger for $200k
I would kill that little critter for 200K. I will probably need a lot of band aids afterward.

Want to form Old Farts bass club in Birmingham
How old of a fart must you be to join? I am moderately aged, but very robust!

The Alley
It is probably better to play fishing video games this time of year. I can run my outboard in the driveway and save the mileage on my trailer tires

2010 NFL predictions
8-8 might be a reach this year. The other AFC east teams have won the division or made the playoffs the last three seasons. If the Bills do not at least split their games against NE,NY,Mia they will probably have a losing record. I think the Bills will go 6-10. Spiller is a great talent, and he will definitely add some excitement, but he cannot win the games himself.

Jon boat engine swap
You should never put an engine larger than what the hull is rated for on a boat. A 60 HP tiller under the best of conditions will be real squirrely

Need a GPS system for wifes car
Thanks for the tip

S. Fla Guys What's up with these fish?
The few couple of months are usually tough. Long road trips are pointless. When I fish, it will be in the Miami canal, A alley, or Lake Ida ... also... Time to dust off the golf clubs.

Deep South FL fishing. Dade/ Broward County
The water is very high right now, there has been a lot of pumping recently which I'm sure is making it worse. When the water gets that high it's nearly impossible to locate fish, they are literally spread out everywhere in the glades. I'll be avoiding Sawgrass and other areas that have as much access to the flats for a while. There are some canals with levees on both sides and limited flats access which to me would keep more fish in the canals and catchable areas. The best place to fish right now has got to be residential lakes accessable with small boats only. X2

Need a GPS system for wifes car
LOL. Maybe she needs a police escort??? She has a new job that requires a lot of commuting in the tri county area. I tried printing out google maps with directions, and she still got lost in Miami. Missing street signs, alternates due to construction, and insane street planning. Downtown Miami is a mess, a zoo, and dangerous. GPS is the way to go. Our cell phone contract will expire in December so I will check into a new smarter phone. If I had side imaging Lowrance, there is no way I would put it on the car (if it was possible)

S. Fla Guys What's up with these fish?
Lake Iso is usually very shallow and loaded with hydrilla, it is understandable the water temps are quite high. About the memorable thing about my last 2 trips there was the steak at the Golden Corral...not to bad.
