  1. Great movie. I got it set on my DVR. I am spending my evening watching the Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns trilogy on AMC.
  2. Work is very busy this week. I might be fishing the lake next week with my son.
  3. Probably just wrap a rope around the flywheel and give it a pull
  4. I had my bow strap break once while loading my old procraft fish and ski. To get it up on the trailer, I just tied the strap to the bow hook. It didn't look pretty, but it got me home safely.
  5. The woman I saw looked enticing at first, then I looked at her face...not worth a digital picture.
  6. On a side note Did anyone else see the woman fishing on L67 southbound topless?
  7. I went out Saturday for 3 hours and boated 5@14#. My partner lost a nice kicker on a black 12" worm that probably was in the 4-5# range. We ended up not fishing the kotg on Sunday. Sounds like we did not miss much. The bigger ocean boats running wide open in crowded canals do pose a hazard, especially to the rental boats. Other than keeping a heavy sinker tied on a bait caster, not much can be done. Maybe the park should put up some signs reminding folks about safety and courtesy at the ramp.
  8. I really bothers me when the singer cannot remember the words to our national anthem. Some folks have tears in their eyes during the anthem, and she is busy butchering the song up. The NFL should just hire someone who can actually sing the song properly.
  9. Exactly... seems like every year theres a few who do a little to good Some of those guys that win the tournaments practically live out there, and they are dam good fisherman. For us weekend warriors, we just have to have the stars align and be at the right place at the right time. I am fishing the kotg this weekend and I am hoping to weigh in a decent bag this time.
  10. Really cool. Looks like all of you had a great time.
  11. If that Mercury 150 is a 1982 model, it was rated at the power head. Starting in 1983, they rated them at the prop. It is probably pushing around 135 HP if it is stock. That being said, the 1982 2.0 block will not make enough HP to push that Laser to 82 MPH. Maybe 62 MPH. I am skeptical to say the least. If you are seriously considering buying it, you better have the compression checked by a professional and try to find out who did the boring and rebuild. If the motor is solid, boat hull & transom is solid in need of cosmetics, and the trailer is solid, no rust, with decent tires it is a good buy at $1500
  12. Ham & garlic cheese rolls potato chips & sour cream and onion dip Vegetable platter with blue cheese and ranch dressing Grilled salmon fillets Hot dogs (for the kids) Wild rice Brussel sprouts Green salad Key lime pie Homemade oatmeal/chocolate chip cookies Heineken Red wine Soda Bottled water
  13. In Harm's Way Kirk Douglas Maureen O'Hara Kirk Douglas in the same movie. He played a tough guy and the ladies man. The beach scene where he took advantage of Paula Prentiss. The other scene was when he bi*ch slapped the press officer in the officers latrine. Great movie.
  14. How is the water level in the lake?
  15. It is amazing to me that those guys caught 21 lbs. That is pretty tough to beat.
  16. GM, Ford, or Dodge/Chrysler are American Brands. I said brand, not car. All of the others, Toyota, Nissan, Subaru, Mitsubishi, and what have you are not American brands and should not be running in the NASCAR series IMHO. I understand that the parts for all the brands are sourced and manufactured worldwide.
  17. Rhino is exactly right. NASCAR had a good thing going and they got greedy and blew it up. I might add, I used to watch NASCAR religiously. Once they started reducing the size of the engines, and allowing the non-American brands such as Toyotas and such in the races, that killed it for me. To keep the cars on the ground, they should have limited the final gear ratios. I love the sound of big V8's winding out wide open without restrictor plates! That would again put the emphasis on great engine building and fuel use strategy. The cars would have better acceleration and not just circle the track like billboards. The advertising on the cars has gotten out of hand too. The color schemes are not traditional. I grew up watching the races on TV in the 70's, and watched the Daytona from the grandstands in the 80's. NASCAR was just awesome in those days.
  18. I went out today and wasted a lot of gas driving around and checking a few spots for next Sunday kotg. I talked to a guy fishing the Renegade T along the L67 and he had 3 small keepers. I stayed away from the ramp at weigh in so I do not know how some of the others fared.
  19. Very true. I have caught peas on floating crank baits and spinner baits with a medium speed retrieve.
  20. The Johnson Evinrude shift levers can be a real pain. I have a Mercury 150 and I can change the impeller in less than 1 hour. Sometimes the housing must be changed and all the gaskets replaced. The thermostats are very easy to change..2 or 3 bolts and a gasket...in just a few minutes. Four hundred dollars(4-5 hours labor?) is too much unless he has to remove and clean the carbs as well. That might be a good deal. Check another shop or two for prices.
  21. Need more info about your trip to lake Okeechobee. Do you have a boat or are you renting one? Which marina? If you are bank fishing, live shiners is your best bet.
  22. Eric, I am sorry for the loss of your dog.

I would go with the Gremlin. Those Pintos were napalm on wheels in rear end collisions. I do not know if I would want to have any extra electrical wiring under there...

There were over 70 boats competing for the KOTG qualifier. The early morning scene at the boat ramp was pure comedy. Some of the late arrivals were playing bumper boats. Hulls into engines, hulls into hulls, plugs left out. Quite entertaining. The weather was nice, cool early, but the bags were small. We were culling 12.5" dinks until I caught a couple of 15-16" bass. The best thing working for us was wacky rigged pumpkin/red trick worms cast into the cover. Drop shot worms watermelon/red was good too.We ended up with 5 fish @ 5.82lb(pathetic). My son and I have not fished much lately and we have not fished HP in over a year. It really showed. I lost 2 really (5+) nice ones, my son 1. That is the difference between winning and finishing poorly.I did not think it was possible to catch 5 bass that are legal size, and not even crack 6 lbs. I am not sure where we placed, but it was near the bottom. We had a great time anyway and made some new friends. We looking forward to next month, several practice sessions, dead set on qualifying.
