I disagree with you assessment of bench strength in the playoffs. They have been playing well as of late.

I will not be back to Miami canal until the water comes up. IMO..When the lake stopped pumping water south, it seems like all the agricultural run off is the only south flow of water. All the fertilizers and stuff are choking off the oxygen. Not very good. It is cool that your son likes to fish. I have a 3year old daughter that likes to practice casting (with help) my spinning rod on the driveway. It wont be long before I will take her fishing. As I mentioned, the water clarity was very good at Sawgrass. How was the water clarity at Holiday Park? I normally do not fish at Sawgrass, it has been years since my last trip prior to Sunday. The canal system is limited, but right now it seems like a good place to go with the low and poor quality water. I almost made the run down to Tamiami trail(topic of thread, sorry to get off track), but it was almost noon and I had things to do. Never been to the Tamiami trail ramp, but I will head down there when I can get an earlier start. Got to see this magic canal next to the L67.

I fished the Miami canal today 5/30 off of alligator alley. I bottomed out my prop backing my boat off the trailer at the SW ramp. Be careful if launching over there. The water is full of algae bloom and down about 3-4 feet. Not a single hit in 1.5 hours. I decided to pack up and give Sawgrass a try. It turned out to be a good decision. I headed east a couple of miles and then turned around and drifted west with the wind. I bagged 3 bass in 1 hour, 2 dinks and a 5# chunk on gambler ez's. The 5# bass followed the swimbait like a submerged submarine pushing a wave before attacking. I was glad I made a long cast. The water was relatively clear there too. The ramp was OK, but the parking situation was kind of tight.

I have never been to Tamiami trail. I need to check it out one of these days.

Too bad you guys didn't get to hook the blue marlin, wow, that would have really capped off the day. Sounds like you guys had some good action anyways, and brought home some fish. Where were you fishing?

Come on man...I am not a rookie at salt water fishing, just not equipped very well currently. Someone needed by saltwater gear more than I did. They helped themselves to it when I left my garage door opened 2 years ago. Those dam swedes! My Penn deep water rods and reels..gone.Haven't been saltwater fishing much so I have replaced them yet. I do have a Penn 850 spinning reel with a surf rod. Luckily it was on the patio. I usually take that one on the boat. I caught a 30# black fin tuna on it. It can handle the Kings. What do you recommend for scent? A spritz of Budweiser?

Gar fish are a nuisance down here in south Florida. They usually get killed and left on the bank for the wildlife and birds to eat.

What kind or color buck tail? I have limited saltwater tackle. Just hooks, leaders and sinkers. I will have to buy some stuff.

Thanks for the tips. I will give them a try. Those trigger fish are nasty looking. I will fry one up if I can catch one. Ever caught those strawberry snappers? I think they are called greysbeys(sp). They are usually small but the have the taste and texture of grouper. Mild flavor.

I agree with Rhino on the hull. The trailer looks a bit rough, make sure you check the axles, bearings, tires, and the hull bunks. If there is rust in some critical areas, have it repaired at a welding shop if possible. Getting to and from the water safely is very important too.

How is the king fishing a night been? Any info? I am thinking about taking a night trip about the Helen S this week.
