  1. How has the fishing been out west on the alley at the turn around by the gas station. Sometimes the water movement isn't as bad out west. Any reports?
  2. At Holiday Park, take the middle canal west to the Miami canal and head north. It is usually good up there although I have not fished there in a couple of months. The fishing out west on the alley is usually good too. Also try the fingers along US 27 north of the bend in the road. At the fingers, fish the drop offs where the canals intersect. As far as Lox, try the deep water around the spillway levees and also run west past the bend and fish the hydrilla salad bowl. The bass try to keep cool under the weeds. Fish early morning at first light for the best bite.Just my .02. good luck. I live in Coral Springs BTW..
  3. I remember an announcement for mosquito spraying in WPB about a month ago. Maybe that killed the vegetation too.
  4. Anyone heading out to Lox on Sunday 8/28 morning?

That one is a beast. Congrats.
  6. Monster day...no kidding...Nice one piscicidal!
  7. During the day, try fishing the spill ways with a small scrounger with a fluke, a large black worm, or a big swim bait. Sometimes rattle traps work good. The bass are probably in the deepest water, or in areas where there is some increased oxygen - near running water. Early morning, top water, frogs, and crank baits. I have been fishing at lox for years, it seems to me the hot summer months with high water, and constant pumping and back pumping messes up the patterns. Just my .02
  8. The 24V or 36V set will obviously give more battery life while running the trolling motor wide open for extended periods. A 24V set sounds about right for your tin boat and situation. My 18' Ranger goes 5 MPH with MK 80 and a three bladed prop.
  9. If you haven't replaced your fuel lines/bulb/fuel filter in a couple of years, that would be a prime culprit. When was the last time the fuel pump was rebuilt? The diaphragms wear out. Low fuel pressure could cause a slow idle. I would start with these and see if that helps.
  10. Instead of driving for hours, shop on the internet. Fishing Tackle Warehouse or something like that.
  11. Call a bee expert to remove the bees and hive.
  12. Great video Shane. Gorgeous spot. Those gators must have been ticked watching all those bass getting cranked over their heads.
  13. sell....sell.....sell (Trading Places movie)
  14. Great story...LOL
  15. Nice video. Very professional. With the water up, the bass have probably dispersed deeper into the grass.
  16. You must have dusted off that old bottle of "Lunker Lotion" Nice pics and story. The calm lake sure looks inviting.
  17. You have a great situation to save your money living at home. Save your money and focus on your education. The next 5-8 of your life are extremely important. Rods, reels and stuff can wait.
  18. You would be better off fishing in the residential canals. Bank fishing at Lox is very limited, however I would fish on either side of the flood control gates. Rattle traps, skinny dippers, big worms, live shiners.
  19. Looks the rainy season is here. Hopefully the lake didn't lose much vegetation during the low water. The last time the lake was this low, it helped the fishing the following years. Hopefully the lake will be better than ever going forward. Despite this brutal heat, I am dying to get back to the lake. Been too busy with work. One of my buddies fished a club tourney last weekend out of Clewiston. Most of the guys are fishing the lake channel, but he and his partner raised the big motor and trolled through the 1-2' water to reach the grass. He landed a 5 and his partner landed a 8.4 and won the tourney. 22 lb bag. The guys fishing the channel did poorly. I haven't been fishing much lately because of work, sorry for the second hand report(he was ok with me passing it along).
  20. I miss that old building at Lox where you could rent boats and buy shiners and snacks. You could just hang out there on the porch and chill. Where the air boat concession is located now, my dad used to take me and my 2 brothers trap shooting and we would let our German short hair pointer hunting dogs go for a run....wonderful memories.
  21. LOL...I remember begging my dad to drive me to the Golden Triangle all the time. It seemed like a long way from Coral Springs in those days. I used to fly those Cox gas powered airplanes, smash them into the ground, and return them covered with castor oil for new ones. They always took them back. I bought my first 2 spinning reels there. A Mitchel 300 and a 324. I used them for years.
  22. Buy a pack of Gambler ez's in watermelon red. They are a rubber swim bait that can be cast through and over hydrilla when hooked weedless. They will catch you some bass.
  23. I was at Sawgrass 4 weeks ago and bagged a 5# bass in late morning in the east canal on green/red ez's. The water clarity was excellent. The ramps are fine, the parking was a real pain.
  24. Until you can buy a faster set up, the only thing you can do is try different props and play with the motor height. I have a 1987 Ranger 373 and it runs best with a 22P 4 blade prop. The 3 blade props were giving me a lot of slippage. You have to get the bow up to get air under that hull. As it lifts, you will see the speed increase. I am running a 2L Mercury 150. It will run 56 MPH @ 5700 RPM loaded and 62 @ 5900 - 6100 RPM unloaded with no trolling motor batteries. The motor is 4 inches below the pad. When the hull rises, at 3.5 inches I start to have low water pressure issues. Do not over prop causing your motor to lug and bog down - not good for the motor in an attempt to gain speed. Your hole shot will suffer. Remove all unneeded weight from the boat, and try some different props. Hope this helps.
