  1. My view is that yes the Biologist do keep good tabs on the fish population, My problem is that I know some places I fish will never see a Biologist, Not to mention the ones that do I rarely hear of the great work they've done for a specific body of water I've fished. I buy a fishing license every year that goes toward this and upkeep of the lakes and yet I still cant get a clean port-a-potty or cleaner facilities. I think it pays for someone to mow the grass! If this guy was to kill fish of that caliber around here I most definitely would be up in arms. I don't want to wait till the next generation of fish reach that size when it could be a confirmed swimmer at a hole I currently fish. If he is that hard up for a meal I'll pay him to stay off the lakes. Roman Noodle is not that expensive.
  2. This Post is now officially DEAD! Just like the Mavericks !!!!!! > > :-/ :'(
  3. Dominion Dan.. No live well on the tube. Some people use a stringer, In our club you had to use a net bag, Its much easier on the fish. We always used a boat to get to our tubing spots and put our catch in the live well. Also you would receive a stiff penalty for dead fish.
  4. Does he throw a baitcaster? how much ya gonna spend? this will help us all out.
  5. Very funny Muddy ;D. I found fishing in the wind like that is kinda like pee'n in the wind...you wont catch any fish but you can get your lure wet ;D!
  6. Fisher of Men.. Yea, fingers crossed! Their going at it tonight, I hope they even it up.
  7. Ever done this? Last time I went out fishing I set up an older cheaper rod & reel with a weightless bait and set it aside. after having no luck with two of my nicer setups with different baits(spinner & worm) I threw the old bulky rod and started tearing them up, by the time we left I had fished that setup 70% of the time and I noticed it didn't feel so bad after all and was having so much fun fishing I didn't think to switch the bait to my nicer setup. Although I say "my nicer setups" I live in a smaller price range than others on this site,I set a limit on my rods to not exceed $100 and never spend more on a rod than the reel. Some may disagree but I haven't found a rod I could justify going any higher.
  8. From what I've noticed carp are always moving looking for a meal, I don't think Ive ever seen one just sit. Where bass will hold to cover at times and strike at food that happens upon them. I can see where a group of carp might wonder in to an area that bass are holding. There eating habits are so different I think neither one sees a threat as long as their past eating size.
  9. Nash is one bad short dude! I don't know why the Mav's let him go! ....Kinda stupid. I think Nash has eyes in the back of his head, He sees everything and takes full advantage of it. I can't count the number of times he's pulled off the win in the final seconds. If the Warriors knock us off I think they'll meet the Suns in the playoff to get to the finals. Say Bye Bye Lakers!
  10. SO...SO ....SWEET! Great Video, Great site, How fun is this!!!!
  11. I don't hate fishing in the wind, I hate casting in the wind! I've pulled off some pretty nice fish in heavy wind and pulled out many bird nests also. >
  12. Loosing 3 of 4 in the playoffs! Gotta hand it to GS Warriors but please! Truly a sad day for me. Go ahead and gloat Cali guys! If they destroy the Mav's like their doing now then they better make it to the finals. These guys are on a serious hot streak unfortunately it's against my Mav's! :'( The only thing is they are a serious underdog with an old Mav's coach who also coached Avery Johnson....I may have to cheer them on a bit cause it looks like their gonna knock us off! :'(
  13. I don't mind saying I never caught a DD Bass. 3yrs of club fishing and never seen one there either. I've been to friends houses who bass fish and never seen a photo or a mount of a 10+ bass. 8 pounders are the biggest I'd actually seen in Oklahoma although there are bigger ones. I know some lakes here in Texas have Florida strand bass in them....Thats probably my best bet for 10lb bass or go to Mexico.
  14. Yeah I remembered the camera just about the time he landed the first fish! My phone has probably the worst camera built in it. I'm sure he'll twist my arms this weekend and force me to take him back....maybe I bring the video camera and get some footage posted on his technique so we will know how a small Pro does it!
  15. I can't help but smile every time I think of it. It really surprized me because he's caught a few perch and crappie in the past but nothing set him off till his first bass which was caught on a crappie jig. This time I set him up for bass and it paid off. I guess I got lucky he likes it so much,From now own I think fishing will be a a double payout for me. The reward was much bigger than I though it would be. Thanks for the kind words guys. I hope everyone here has had the luck of experiencing this or will in the future!
  16. I revived this post for the update. The reel performed real good and felt as good as any reel I've owned. it casts nice but I think I can hear the break working more that on my Shimano's. It may have been that I was paying too close attention, plus I was throwing a weightless plastics and had to muscle the cast to get it out there with a small wind. I think it'll be a great reel either way and I keep second guessing myself if I really heard it so it's not real bad.
  17. Two or three weeks ago I posted my 7yr old sons First bass. since then he has stole one of my reel covers for his 33, robbed my box of any cool looking lure he could find and has been practicing pitching in the front yard(yes with a 33). Yesterday he rattled all the way to the hole, Had full conversations across the pond at the top of his voice. gave fishing tips to my friends son who we took along, And talked my ear off on the way home. To top it off he out fished me landing 7 bass to my 4 and 2 crappie on two lures I thought wouldn't be that productive. the coolest things he said where.... "Man Dad! I think I could be fishing with the Pro's!" "Now I know why you and Papaw love fishing, it's exciting!" "That's the most funnest time I EVER HAD!" and right before bed " Thanks Dad, That was really fun!" What a great day! Now I'll get a little more serious about buying a boat.
  18. Welcome! The fishing is always better over there....and right around there. Did you try that spot and don't forget there, thats a great spot!

Yesterday, Took the family to church......come on, fish are waiting, Amen! Cut grass at record speed! Throw every thing in the truck and fly to local hole. set up two kids and me with deadly lures. (missed one eye on one rod and wrapped the line on another) Son lands nice small bass before I even get the lure setup on the last and final rod,MINE! great time had by all!

Welcome ! I don't think you'll find a friendlier place to ask question no matter what level of "fisherperson" you are! With your tag being "cutie" you'll probably get a faster response.
  21. I love buying stuff on sale or cheap, grab bags at a very small tackle shop close to me to clearance Items. I have never had a fish ask me what I paid for it!
  22. You guys didn't ask for it but you sure deserve it! I was a the official PR guy for three years with a large gaming clan and boy can I tell ya It is no small task! Yes, you are real people trying to balance peoples differences while maintaining a neutral stance. Talk about finding higher ground while trying to keep your personal views out of it. With this many people all over this site I'd say Awesome job guys! Can I get a Heck YA!
  23. I can clean the heck out of a 33! But when I look at the 15 features and 6+ bearings in the reel I can see 40+ reasons not to crack it open. I'm still trying to figure out how to get rid of that gap from experimental dental surgery! :-/

I second that. flukes or bait fish type soft plastic go with the natural colors that also that resemble bait fish. Would you eat a purple hamburger? I might and bass will but these are safe colors to start with. from there you might try some crazier colors. Bubblegum and cotton candy come to mind. Dark colors are also safe, Black , Purple, motor oil, and junebug are good darks.
  25. Cravin replied to pipho's topic in Fishing Tackle
All conditions year round on both types of bait. When you fish jigs and worms it's a slow presentation which works early in the season when it's cold all the way through to the coming winter, Fish are latharjic (It think that how you spell it) in the cold months and slow down while they will slam them in the hottest of months. Try to get comfortable with both and don't ever hesitate to throw them at any time of the year.
