This or That?
Pecans. A late night with the wife or an early morning with a fishing buddy?

You might be a fisherman if...
All those are good and I can relate to most of them. I don't quite have a wife yet... Just remember to take your time picking one. Unlike fish, It costs alot of money to cull wives!

Soft bait scents. Whats good?
I like to use scents on some of my soft baits especially on a 6 inch ring worm. does anyone know of a really good scent that they swear by?

Kissing your fish
I dont kiss every fish, I'm alittle more particular. They have to get me in the mood first by putting out...I mean UP a good fight. having a good full body is a plus and I'll kiss any fish that will give me the shakes!

Fishing in Wind?
I always stayed away from heavy wind but about 7 years ago I took 3rd in a local touney on a very windy bank line next to the main body of the lake. I remember my Dads friend telling me I needed to get up in the cove for some shelter as he and my Dad tubed in the cove. I thought I my as well try a few casts before ruling anything out. I landed two small bass, and a Kentucky (black Bass, wherever your from) that wieghed 3lb 9oz. I know they werent monsters but it was enough to put a little money in my pocket. It supprised me that they wouldnt even consider fishing in that wind. now I dont rule out anything.

Spring strategies
I kind use a pattern every time, buzz bait? heck ya. I throw one almost everytime I go, sometimes I even throw a Pop R topwater after that to slow down the presentation. Then i like a jerk bait or slow roll a small spinner to cover the water and locate fish. Next if I have any luck locating, I go to soft baits. I have alot of confidence in fishing carolina and flukes. Location I start at points, coves, and any type of cover. humps in open water, drop offs and grassy areas are usually second on my list of todos. sure the lake determines how you fish, but most will let me fish this pattern and allow me to zero in on what speed and presentation they seem to want. right after I figure all that out they change pattern and I'm stuck again! at that point I throw everything in the tackle box at them.

gill hooked fish
It is the ugly side of fishing, I feel real bad about it. I let them go to give them a chance also. T-Rig, I don't eat fish much at all either. My wife refuses to clean, cook or eat them and my kids tend to not like fish unless it comes in a crunchy fish stick. I've been known to eat battered catfish or some pan fish, but I never butcher a Bass for food. They are purely a sport fish in my eyes and I feel that same fish will probably bring a smile to a few fishermen over its lifetime if someone does'nt make a meal out of it.

Broken rod question

Having trouble casting my baitcaster
I remember fighting my first BC, Everyone has gave great advice in this thread. I 'd like to say that when it does come (and it will), you'll never want to fish anything else...next thing to work on will be flipp'in and skipp'in. now If i could just remeber how to throw my spinners again! When your ready to get your second set up consider getting something similar as to the rod grip, I like a blank through handle with a real low seat, and reel profile. You wont want to fish the setup as thorough if you dont like the feel of it or it feels alien to your hand. Throw your buddies setup before you buy also. you might find something you like or hate. I think we all spent money on good equipment we dont like.

Night fishing - Love/Hate
I use to belong to a local Bass club for tube and miniboat fishing,so I've witnessed alot of bad luck! I watched two rather large members in a very small miniboat get wake'd by a speed boat dumping them and all their gear in about 10 to 15 feet of water, some younger guys spent the best part of the afterrnoon diving for their gear with little luck. The worst I saw was when we pulled up to the ramp early one morning all we heard was the sound of a truck engine wide open, we got there just in time to watch a nice red 4 wheel drive Dodge Ram slide 1/2 of the way into the lake. The ramp was covered in green moss and as slick as glass ....we launched elsewhere.

Your favorite reel brand vote here!
Shimano I agree with roadwarrior, They need to add some different colors like deep red , dark blue , graphite.... and change the handle ...maybe a pearl finish in a different color like on the chronarch. these reels melt in your hand , lets you balance the lure in seconds, and perform flawlessly. I'm just getting tired of looking at the same reel and seeing eveyone else with it. I have two Citicas and one Curado and will probably add another Curado when the IRS pays me back. however I've never been a fan of shimano rods.

SKUNKED!
Nothing is more dishearting than a two day tourney with nothing in the boat baking in the hot sun. We always poked fun at my dad when he was really into fishing, He would hold his tongue between his teeth at the corner of his mouth and was almost always serious. Everytime he would miss a strike or had no luck we'd ask him if he held his tongue right or did he forget to make his face. I would suggest making a face next time or bring a buddy to pick on....it worked for us, We always had a good time. Hope your tear'n em up Dad , Don't forget to make your face.

What do you think of these?
My first post here! I'm not familiar with that exact brand but I would express caution on a lure of that type , I fell victim to a extremly high dollar lure that was a full bodied diver with life like action . I couldnt get it to run true, too fast and it would flip side to side, running it slow it still ran to one side, I had to run it as I felt too slow to get it half way work. After tweaking it many times in effort to save my investment I finally gave up. Since no one seems familiar with it and you cant see the manufacture, I'd stay away from it , there are many things that that contribute to how lures run... The balance and dive bill need to be exact and a well placed eye, the action tail can affect how it runs also. I think you should try it in a smaller quantity before puchasing in bulk, I dont think the manufacturer is worried about loosing there reputation if you cant see who makes it. If you do buy them I'd like an update because the style on them do seem tempting.I may be wrong on these but thats been my experience.
