  1. You say the low profiles are too pricy for you , did you look at the Shimano Calyx for $79? http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=86372 I bet this guy would take a money order. hes selling them for 35$ I would express caution though, no way to prove its liget. http://kansascity.craigslist.org/spo/309619671.html or twenty more you could get a Abu Revo S with 9 bearings or Shimano Cruxis with 4 bearings. http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0041925121535a.shtml http://www.***.com/descpageRLCSHIMANO-SHCR.html
  2. I like the Pop-R and a buzz bait. I fish both quite a bit. As Far as the Pop-N-Image it looks nice. I've had my Pop-R's so long I've just never thought of replacing them.
  3. With a 40% discount that presents a good opportunity to get those lures or line that your not familar with. If youv'e never fished a Zara Spook or Pup they have the XPS Walker, They have Poppers and SPX Fluorocarbon line.It would be a good time to get things you've thought about trying out but could'nt bring yourself to buy, That way if you dont like them your only out a little money.

T-rig = Texas rig is using a bullet weight at the nose of the bait before the hook. you can peg the weight with a toothpick and break it off flush at the base of the weight to keep it from sliding up your line. carry a paperclip in your Tackle box to push the peg out when your done. it works good to re-open the hole in your weights, they tend to close up alittle from bouncing off cover. http://www.catcherman.com/features/rigging/texasrigging030602sportmn.htm
  5. It sounds like you've found what your looking for and I can't find a reason not to buy it. If you think you might want to get a ABU look for a Abu repair center in your area. They refurb there trade-ins and resale for quite a bit of savings, But expect some scuffs. Honostly though, There is nothing like the shine of a new reel. The first baitcaster I bought that really blew me away was a Shimano Citica with only one ball Bearing and the centrifugal brake. I soon aquired a few more and thats all I bought for years. I'm sure that if its a Shimano of any series in that price range it will be absolutely more than pleasing. Everyone on this site loves a certain reel they own in all price ranges so if this one tricks you trigger get it. the selfish side of me thinks you should get a low profile though. JK

They do work , no doubt as any thing that resembles a bait fish, the action is really good. Drum, I make a banjo minnow. (1) The little spiraling hitch = HitchHikers at BPS. page 389 in the BPS catalog or Oldhams Screw-Lock trailer attachments. (2) Any Worm hook with a Z bend. (3) Rubberbands that go on your kids braces. (4) Any soft bait you can find that you like. (5) needle nose pliers At the bend in the hook fold the rubberband around the shank and pull one end through the other and attach to the barb of the hook. you loose a few rubberbands so keep some on you. actually I fish it alot without the rubberbands. I found info on this quite awhile ago and have used it with good results. If you want to use the Actual banjo minnow you can buy the minnows online here without getting the whole kit. I like the 4" 10packs for $3.29 http://banjominnowparts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=BM&Category_Code=SALE
  9. great looking Tackle box HPBB. We need a thread for TACKLE STATIONS now I think. My only question is.... What can you catch with half a dog? JK
  10. Low_Budget_Hookers, Its funny what Wickyman was saying. I've only been here a short time but just in the last week I've gotten wind of you. Seems like you do alot for kids and your always ready to give something to a Angler in need. It sound like your head and your heart are working in sync. Alot of people get caught in the negatives , I think you live on the other side. It's nice.
  11. Glen, VERY NICE tackle box! I like how tidy you keep it and the place you store it. I need to get one of those.

My Dad used them alot and I have two of them but I never really had the confidence with them that I do with a pop R so I dont think I really ever gave them a fair shake. I know they have withstood the test of time well so that must be no accident.
  13. Hope you got a big box. First it looks a little empty , then it looks just about right and before you know it it's too small.
  14. Yeah, thanks for the link. I was thinking of picking up a cranking rod, the rod im using is really better for jerk baits, too fast for a deep crank. that rod fits my budget too.
  15. You need someone who is a fan and vet of round baitcasters to give you some advice, An ABU Man more than likely. you'll find a larger group of low profile fans on the site I bet. I had one round reel, a Quantum US100 I think. I know that alot of people fish round reels and love them but they're not for me. I like that (1) its a Shimano, and (2) it has a six 6 pin centrifugal braking system. They are really great for starting out due to easy adjustment when balancing the bait, you should'nt worry about getting a lemon with those working for you, but I still would try putting a low profile reel in your hand a few times before buying. I love the look of the round reels too but I dont care for the feel, plus if the covers are metal on a really hot day it can get really hot, And when its really cold they get really really cold. just something to think about. Here is a picture of what hes posting about for those interested. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CFPage?mode=article&objectID=30009&storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1
  16. Im gonna pick one up! ............. ::)as soon as I win the lottery.
  17. Glimmer Blue Baby!!! love that bait.
  18. I know this is long ,SORRY. I inherited my addiction. My father was a complete freak about fishing, he set up rods for every family member, friend, or stray he knew, most never really fished or cared as much about fishing. almost every vacation or summer fun time was based around camping and fishing. Ive slept on river banks in the middle of the night while he chased striper to getting run off properties while pond fishing. as a child till I was a teenager I wasn't as passionate as he and I know he was well aware of it. Later in life I was married and in the military, spent my income tax return on two fishing outfits and truely fell in love with fishing. By the time I got out the Navy my dad was fishing a local bass club back home,We spent three years going all over the state fishing and I eventually realized how un-fun it had become though My dad would never think of slowing up. getting loaded and to the lake without leaving somthing or tearing something up,scouting the lake map, setting up camp, dealing with members who dont trust anyone can be worse than a office full of women. Too much tension of competing took away the joy of the catch cause you needed two more good ones and thats all that mattered and if it didnt happen the tourny was a bust and you drag yourself home tired and defeated. My father got sick with CJD that third year fishing and died shortly there after so now Im just coming back to fishing since he died. Sure I fish every year but not like when we use too. My 7yr old really never knew him but he knows thats all his Grandpa liked to do so now he thinks he can be as good as him one day. Here is my answer, yes it can be a bad addiction if it adds tension or you loose focus of what truely is taking place like being out deep in nature spending time enjoying the catch with the people your with. I will never put my son in a bass club unless he truely begs, keeping it in check can make for better memories.
  19. I have had two people tell me they use spay silicone on their reels , I have my nice reels serviced but I have a few beater catfish and crappie reels I wont spend the money on. Will this just gum them up or what? It sounds like it would cause more problems than help.

Ok, Opions , Opions Opions.... Here is a task for non believers, Find me an artical with scientific study proving scents do not work beyond a shadow of a doubt, make sure it was written by someone reputable and post it. easy task right! We may have to wait till we can communicate directly with fish. note: There is no aggresion in this post, just seeking actual proof. the poster cannot be held responsible for ruffled feathers or ill feelings
  21. Yeah I know, But the profile is the same so the drag system is not of that much importance to me. I almost bought the SX but not knowing the reel I decided to start with the least expensive. Plus the dealer said i could trade up later if I wanted too.

I like the shad scents, I will use them regardless of opions here. I respect your opion KYbass but I suspect you have a few bags of plastics with scent impregnated in them, are you sure your not using scents? Just kiddin. It my be that its all just a confidence boost but when I'm fishing, weather, time, water color, and location can bring down the confidence level. If a favorite scent brings me up a notch and gets me fishing more thorough then I'm all for it. I like to pick up cheap odd colored noname bags of worms every now and then, my favorite is a 6" and 4" ring worm with a chartruce or clear glitter tail. The scent holds between the rings and lasts a little longer, plus I bury the hook point at the base of the rings not into the body of the worm for faster hookset. I won a local touney with 50 cent bag of Phantom brand 6" ring worm in "celebration" color ( try and find more of those) with shad scent. now thats all the confidence I need.
  23. Ok you made me check my worm bag. Baitmate LIVE (gamefish) and YUM Shad/Gaspareau. KYbass posted that leaving me to wonder why they havent came out with a worm extract formula?
  24. Jeronimo, I just got the Revo S model on the 12th. Post back as soon as you get chance to fish it and let me know what you think. I'll do the same with mine, If I like it enough I may pick up the SX in a few weeks.
  25. That very very Funny Catt! ;D Pretend someone is grabbing for your beer. Yank back fast and hold it to you chest!
