No. As a general rule, don't buy any bait advertised on an informercial.

I met the Banjo Minnow inventor at a BASS tournament several years ago. He was staying at the same motel I was. We talked about it and he gave me some. His room mate from the same state (Connecticut, I think) said that they were using a Super Fluke during the tournament. NO, I have not used them. They are in my junk file along the Flying Lure, Helecopter Lure, Dancin' Eel, and Sound Bites.

The banjo minnow actually works, much better than the flying lure, the helicopter lure, the kicktail and all the rest.

That said, there is a wide gap between being better than those other gimmicks, and working as well as say a Fluke Sluggo SS...

All those banjo minnows that are the photo print preach in 3.5 i will buy from you RW. And don't ever fish walleye with them.

i bought the banjo minnow 2 years ago and only used it for a year or so....i caught a bunch of fish with them but gave them up...starting catching bigger fish on cranks..myself i would save my money and first find what works the best on the pond or lake your fishing and save ur 30 dollars...thats my opioion its up to you though.hope this helped ya

I have never caught anything with them but have seen guys catch bass with them.  I was watching Babe Winkerman's show and he and the guys were catching pikes with them.  Who knows?  Personally, I wouldn't buy them though.

I bought them in '96 and yes, they worked for me. What did I know 11 years ago I still have them and will bring them out occassionaly. The was a good thread about this not to long ago, try doing a search

The banjo minnow has worked great for me every time I have used it! It is almost my #1 confidence lure. I always have it on a rod when I go fishing. It works great for largemouths on the shallow grassy flats and great for smallies in the rocks. The action is great and it definitely works in the clear northern lakes of Wisconsin and Minnesota.

I've found great success with using the banjo minnow while bass are feeding on shad. I throw a little 3in or even sometimes 4in minnow in there, and just play with it. I caught easily 30-40 LMB in 2 consecutive days with it, only 10-14 inchers though. Only had one real nice fish caught with it during the same time, which was a 6lb.

Dido, I have them and use them they do catch fish when Bass are feeding on Shad they work as well as any soft plastic jerkbait out there.

Seems to me like a "home made" Banjo Minnow could be done as simply as:

- Zoom Horny Toad Hook (or similar from other brands, with the screw-in keeper for the bait)

- Zoom Fluke/Super Fluke/Super Fluke Jr., albino shad color

i use the 7 inch ones for stripper fishing. they work great.

RW if you want to get rid of any 6,7,8,9 inch ill take them off you hands.

I always thought the same thing. Or maybe a sluggo hooked through the nose with a dropshot or circle hook. That's all the banjo minnow looks like to me.

I believe the point is that they catch fish no matter what we all compare them with everyone has their favorite and not so favorite soft jerkbait so the choice is up to you what you want to use. They do work.

I was unaware you could fish for strippers, haha, just kidding.

I have used the Banjo Minnow and owe one tournement win to it  but it is not a bait i fish often only when the bite is very slow when nose hooked weightless they have a very slow fall rate that seems to help in cold water or severe cold front conditions.

i have cought alot of fish in the banjo....tons of pike in NY and MN...few bass here and there...and the biggest walleye i ever cought was on the bajo in a river in NY...they are great for pike in my opinion...but pike will eat anything

They do work , no doubt as any thing that resembles a bait fish, the action is really good.

I make a banjo minnow.

(1) The little spiraling hitch = HitchHikers at BPS. page 389 in the BPS catalog or Oldhams Screw-Lock trailer attachments.

(2) Any Worm hook with a Z bend.

(3) Rubberbands that go on your kids braces.

(4) Any soft bait you can find that you like.

(5) needle nose pliers

At the bend in the hook fold the rubberband around the shank and pull one end through the other and attach to the barb of the hook. you loose a few rubberbands so keep some on you. actually I fish it alot without the rubberbands.

I found info on this quite awhile ago and have used it with good results.

I have 1 win on vr natural perch (walleye) these baits were made by Renosky for Banjo. I was using a 1/8 jig and fishing 12 ft of water. They still work but I have not found a jig that holds them  good.
