Thoughts on Mojo's?
The split grip was the reason for me getting this rod, It now has me looking at all rods with the split grip. It has a great feel and is very light,I would like a few more. For me handle design is huge. Low seat , blank through handle, comfortably designed cork grip makes you want to hold it longer than my less thought out handled rods.

Got my new GBlank rod
I would love to have one of those beauties and that's a great price. The Citica looks nice on that rod, although I don't see how any reel would look bad on that rod.

Carrot Stix or Kistler Magnesium TS ?
I would ask Micro what brand of rod he's using to poke people in the ribs with, It's already got a bite ! ;D Avid's look real sweet too! good luck with that. Create a poll and see what the other 600 plus who have read this thread think. and then have it moved to....Favorite "All Time" Threads.

Carrot Stix or Kistler Magnesium TS ?
There is any easy way to solve this argument. Go to a BPS and pick up comparable models of Extremes and Magnesiums. I think most people will agree with Burley and I. That's great! I like the Magnesiums too, But it was not the point I was getting at. I prefer making people ( New Members) feel more comfortable than uncomfortable. Thanks all, I'm done.

Carrot Stix or Kistler Magnesium TS ?
Southern, Fortunately for you, Tons of anglers have used the Extremes and still slam hogs with them. I think its a nice Broomstick and would add it to my collection of non-fishable tackle that still produce good catches. This place is just full of fishing connaisseurs that forget that not everyone ( go Figure?) has their taste or budget. I should post pics of what a lot of people would consider crap that I use just to watch heads spin. They don't mean anything by it, just bad wording. (sometimes) :-/ I like the Kistler!

lefthanded bait caster? and gear ratio help
100% with you RW and DD! I learned on a something other than a shimano but didn't love the BC until the "C" series came out and yes it was a Citica that I still have today. I was at the counter at BPS with a rod in hand waiting to pay, A lady was inquiring about a BC reel for her husband for x-mas. ( never let your wife do this!). Your could see the BP guy knew he had a tough one. He finally asked her how much she wanted to spend, she said about $100 so now he's randomly throwing everything at her in that price range. I finally could deal and opened my mouth and said to both and nothing more "Citca E". I guess they got the clue that it was something I would take without thought for the money cause thats what she got. I hope I didn't let the guy down for Christmas but I don't see how I could have. After she had the box in her hand I heard her ask the man "what other colors does this one come in?"

New Baitcast Reel???
What do you throw now? the brake system on the shimano is more forgiving if you are not use to the mag brake system, but if you are, then I hear the STX is a outstanding reel. I have the SX and flat love it. I had to teach myself to go a little tighter on the on the spool (not the break) to reduce over run, but after that its pure butter. I have the E7 now(x-mas) and love the way it casts and the feel though it has yet to see water. whichever way you go you have made the right decision IMO.
-
Newer Pflueger baitcasters
I love the brake system on my SX, I rate it well above my other reels although it was not love at first cast. If they are that similar to each other you now have me wanting to put a Pflueger in my hand. For me, Shimano and Abu have made it real hard to tryout something new when you have the cash in your pocket, But I'm sure the Diawa, Quantum, and Pflueger fans feel the same. :-/

Help! - Skipping
I'll admit it too! I can pitch/flip pretty good but I tried skipping a time or two and decided I was asking for trouble and have avoided trying to learn it! Telling me how can help a little but I think I really need someone to show me how. It's something you cant practice in your front yard either.

Where the heck is Bill Dance fishing?????
Sorry if I didn't come off with a little more enthusiasm and stats but honestly I don't dig that deep into who's who in this sport. I love to fish and I like to watch fishing shows, I'm just not that deep studied I guess. A few more years around you guys and I guess I'll be straightened out on a lot of it, But saying that, I'll tell you what I have learned watching these guys, Roland Martin and a few of these guys (Hank And Houston) had a bit of angst going. The "H" guys made a few little comments referring to a said angler without naming him and the fight was on! I don't know who really started it but that was fun. Then Jimmy stated that the style of fishing was actually "Oklahoma-rig" not "Texas-rig", More fun. Being a native "Okie" I actually met Jimmy at one of many tackle shows that these guys had me going to. Not a very big guy, but he still seemed like a giant! Then the buying started! I have the ugliest baby blue and yellow "Fat free shad"with Bill Dance's name on it, I think he signed mine personally! My fist Zara Spook, and countless other lures and new colors. They had me switching blades on my spinners, got me to try out Spiderwire, using anus oil as a sent, checking out the farmers almanac, a barometer, checking moon phases' learned to tie a Palamar knot and trying new fishing techniques. I can say "yes" I do know how successful this men are, but only from a different angle. I'm sure this is just a drop in the bucket as for all these guys have done for me personally and I appreciate you guys giving me the history lesson on the career's, That's why I come to these forums! 8-)

Where the heck is Bill Dance fishing?????
Thanks Cart, that defiantly clears it up and it make me feel better for always liking the guy. It would be nice to see some footage of his accomplishments for those of us who were just getting good at walking in 1970.

New Rod Ideas!
Sounds good to me, I think if you can get a chance to put the rod in your hand first it will help you make your decision. Hand size and comfort determines which rod I get. Grab a 6".6' and a 7 " in the same rod action and tip speed. look at the blank right where it meets the grip. the diameters can be different. I don't have big hands and prefer lighter rods so I like the 6".6' for soft plastics. put similar rods with different grip designs in you hand and find the feel you like, when you fish soft plastics it pays to have a very comfortable rod. The reel should be be more than fine even throwing some weightless from time to time. 12# is good in mono. I like 14# and 17# i don't really know if I've really needed it though. Good luck!

Green Reel + Purple Rod = Ugly Duckling???
Why is it so bad that someone who is spending $300 on a setup should care about the looks or the color? All successful companies produce products that are ugly right? Aesthetics are one of the most important parts of making a product appealing to the consumer. We are all consumers so we must assume that good looking products must appeal to the majority of people on this forum, I'm one of them. Now if I could just find a orange boat with yellow polka dots to go with this combo!!!!! Ranch makes a great line conditioner and can fend off hunger on a long days fishing!!!! Tin, Thats funny you said that , Barney was the first thing I thought of too ;D
