SPOT
I got the Garmin Nuvi 350 refurbished from the factory for $140 delivered, I've had it at least a year, I drive for Coke and use it every day. If I loose or break it I will replace it that day. it's just that valuable for what I do.

SPOT
sounds really cool. I use a navigational GPS everyday. It does a ton of things other that driving directions. I think these little devise are priceless, The more I use it the more I love it. I bought my mother one for Christmas this year and showed her how to use it, She said she didn't know that they were so handy and that its by far her favorite gift. Hungry, need gas, find a store, a park, a airport, calculator,(weight, temperature and currency converter) MP3 player transmitted to the car radio, put in coordinance for hot spots on the lake! it's all there plus more. Enjoy it!

Green Reel + Purple Rod = Ugly Duckling???
I Agreed with Firefightin, It is a little nose heavy and had me concerned and considered taking it back to BPS, but after I put the reel on it and a Jig to make some casts in the front yard I didn't feel a balance problem at all, It seems plenty light and designed for maximum sensitivity, the split grip feels awesome and has me looking at a Carrot and a Cumara in the future. I haven't fished it yet but I have no plans on getting rid of it, as of now i feel it may end up being one of my favorite rods. It just feels too good in my hand! If you don't have a split grip rod yet you need to give one a try, I hear their not for everyone but I know a lot of people will love them.

Green Reel + Purple Rod = Ugly Duckling???
I agee! those are probably the strangest colors I've personally had together. If you think you can come up with a crazier or uglier set up I'd like to see it! Good Idea MR! Some orange line might really set it off!

Green Reel + Purple Rod = Ugly Duckling???
Feels great and will stay together for awhile I'm guessing! I care about looks because I don't like to spend money on ugly...Something I picked up on when I first started dating, If its gonna be with you awhile you might want to make sure you can stand to look at it! ;D JMO

Where the heck is Bill Dance fishing?????
Yep I was kinda curios about that too, Must be nice to get access to some private honey holes! If you notice Roland Martin,Hank Parker and Jimmy Houston had no problem fishing against pros in tournaments and tended to put up a respectable showing. It always made me Question if Bill Dance was more like a Fish Fishburne? A good PR guy for the sport.

can you dye the cork handle ?????
Back in the 80's when I was in High School I worked at Sherwin Williams Paint. We sold black wood stain in semi transparent and sold. I think it came in a quart or even smaller, Check at the specialty paint stores.

Green Reel + Purple Rod = Ugly Duckling???
I got these for Christmas and was planning on putting my SX on this rod and using my Pro Qualifier LTD with the Curado till I could pick up a Cumara. Since they both were unpaired I thew them together to get a feel for both. I just knew they would be absolutely scary looking together , Well I don't feel that way anymore. what do ya think? Ugly Duckling or Swan!

Where's the 6.2?
I have the Revo in a SX and S and I just got the Curado E7 for X-mas , I like all of these reels but keep in mind that they do feel different. I too wanted the 6.2 retrieve but I don't think I'll really miss it all that much. this E7 is sweet.

New Rod Ideas!
So you say your rod has gone limp and you cant feel a thing huh? I hate it when that happens. For that price range I would pick up a Carrot stick or Cumaras. try putting that split grip in you hand it's heavenly, I just got my first split grip and think I'll move toward all my rods having it.

Citica E and Revo S
I have the Revo S and SX, I have the older Citica B and D plus one Curado E7,Ive had the Curado B and D plus one Calcuta 100. Get what has a spell on you, the Citica E because if you don't you'll be think I should have got it! The Citica has the seductive new body style and the Revo has a nice but familiar design your already use too! You can always get it later down the line but get something totally new to you now , thats what buying toys are about. OH.... and its OK to like both Shimano's and Abu's! I forgot that I also picked up a Cruxis on black friday, I guess I'll need to pick up another Abu to balance things out.

St. Croix Mojo Swimbait Rod
I'm reviving this thread to see if I could get some feed back. T-Rig and firefightin15 did you get a chance to fish this rod yet? I went to BPS to pick up a Compre or Extreme for my new Curado E7 and walked out with this Mojo Bass in a 6'6 MHF, I just loved the feel of this rod! I guess it will end up paired with my SX so it don't look too crazy but all i can say is WOW this feels and looks like a good one. Anyone else have this rod and what do you think about it?

Ugly Stik?
Welcome to the forum! Like they said there too heavy for that nice of a reel, There good for catching a salmon and beating a bear half to death for trying to take it. You can also throw it in the back of your truck then toss in a few bags of concrete and 10 cinder blocks, pull it out a couple weeks later and not find a blemish on it. If your use to slinging the Ugly Stik then your probably thinking Whats Heavy about it? Well it's not that the biggest guy on this site has 4 inch biceps! Once you get a nice light rod you'll see! I think you should start with a 6 or 6 and a half foot rod. Give us a price range and everyone will be more than happy to give you some of there top picks any where from IM6 to IM10 or HMG!

What speed did you choose E5 or E7?
Well I ordered the E7 yesterday and I would like to say thanks to all who posted on this thread, This was one of my Christmas gifts from my wife and I'd like to state that she did a splendid job on choosing the perfect gift for me ;D. Now the only thing left to decide is who should wrap it? I think I'll handle that just in case it might need to be pre-tested on a rod to assure that the person who receives this gift will have complete satisfaction on Christmas morning.... I wouldn't want to disappoint the guy!!!! Thanks again everyone!

What speed did you choose E5 or E7?
I've always been hesitant to go to a high speed reel, maybe it's time to give it a try. thank you all for your responses. I think I'll buy the E7 and see how it works out for me. I guess the worst case scenario is that I end up getting both just to see! :-/

What speed did you choose E5 or E7?
Ok, I'm Fixed on the Curado now but wouldn't ya know you gotta kick in some extra cash and go to the 300 to get a 6 to 1 ratio, I'm not gonna pay the ransom for it so what did you choose? All of my reels are considered all purpose. I don't know what rod it will eventually end up on as I switch them up as I buy new stuff. Will the high speed hurt me if I decide I would like it for plastics? Is the E5 really too slow for some baits? Which do you think would be more versatile? In the old days 5 to 1 was good enough, is that still true to you?

Bought a couple new reels on sale at BPS last weekend
Ya , What are they? and how long is the sale? I'm not beyond thowing a $40 reel. It looks prety nice as far as construction. I got a $100 dollar Cruxis for $40 and it has a plastic star drag and plastic spool adjustment knob.

"E" series. The good, The bad, and the ugly.
THE GOOD = That is is an understatement,What a awesome design! Citica's and Curado's and are outstanding reels and by far some of my favorites. They have been flawless in performance, I still have my first Bantam Citica that started my loyal following of Shimano when they were released. THE BAD = Not following the color schemes of the D series. Absolutely the best looking series put out in my opinion. THE UGLY = The green again?... NO!!!! No gold on on the Citica!... Your kidding? So now I'm gonna buy a beautifully designed reel while missing the things I thought Shimano corrected in the "D" series. Maybe I'm petty but I really got tired of looking at the green on my old Curado's, not to mention trying to fit a rod that I thought looked good with it. Can you guess green is not my favorite color? So let's get the Citica then. Boy that black on the handle and spool really kills the luster of the reel, The design is just too pretty not to put a little more flash on it than they did. I will definitely have one of these reels at Christmas and I'm sure I'll love it. I just wanted to vent a little and see if anyone other than me wondered what happened? Do you Loath the Green? does the dulling down on the Citica disappoint? I'm sure after a few cast this will all fade to the back of my mind but right now I have to fork over the cash on one with a slight bit of displeasure, something I haven't felt with a shimano purchase in well over a Decade!

Oklahoma vs Florida
SMSgt_C , That is exactly how I feel. I'm A Sooner living in Texas who has always been a Horns and Red Raiders fan, But when the line is drawn I bleed crimson and cream. This has been one of the most exciting and disappointing seasons in years. I love it and hope for a similar season next year. The hardest part has been dealing with the fans lately and I do see their point, some just have a hard time understanding that someone can have a soft spot or even favor their biggest rivals. These Teams don't play each other all season and although I do miss my home north of the Red River I do love Texas. "Oh"one more thing.... Can we please keep the scooner off the Field!

BCS: Bull Crap System!
I think this post on Bevo beat explained it all "PRIOR" to the standings being released. I Feel there should still be a play-off of the three way tie. November 30, 2008 10:53 AM | Link to this No. 2 SHOULD BE Oklahoma. But will it be? That's entirely up to the voters. Logically, Oklahoma should be No. 2. But if the BCS is about logic, then it wouldn't even exist. And with all these voters - 175 in all, if they all vote - having foisted upon them a responsibility that they neither desired nor deserved, there really is no telling where they're going to go. Nevertheless, they're asked to decide on the Big 12 tiebreaker, as the winner of the South Division will be determined by the BCS standings, among Oklahoma, Texas and Texas Tech. Whoever gets into the Big 12 title game will be the prohibitive favorite to beat Missouri and have the inside track to the BCS title game, against the SEC title game winner between Florida and Alabama. Well, let's examine those three Big 12 South contenders, side-by-side: 1. Against Big 12 South teams: Oklahoma beat Baylor, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M - all on the road - by a +90 margin. Texas won all three at home by +68. Texas Tech won two at home and at A&M by +61. Advantage: Oklahoma. 2. Against Big 12 North common opponent: Only Kansas played all three and Tech won, 63-21, OU won (at home), 45-31, Texas won, 35-7. Advantage: Texas Tech. 3. None-conference opponents: Texas played Florida Atlantic, UTEP, Rice and Arkansas, teams with records of 25-23 and only Rice bowl-bound; OU played I-AA Chattanooga, Cincinnati (Big East champ), TCU and Washington, 20-15 (only count I-A teams) with two 10-win teams and a winless team; Tech played two I-AA teams and the other two, Nevada and SMU, are 8-16. Advantage: Oklahoma. 4. Head-to-head: Texas wants to talk about beating OU, 45-35, true, but this is not a pure head-to-head situation, it's a three-way tie and a circular argument. And just for logic's sake, the fact that Texas beat OU on a neutral field is a classic non-sequitur. You may deduce that Texas would've beaten OU in Austin, but nothing more - so essentially each team WOULD'VE won at home. The following is how these three teams did against each other, the research courtesy of our friends at Saurian Sagacity: Oklahoma Points Scored: 100 Points Against: 66 Net Points: 34 Total Yards: 1060 Total Yards Against: 844 Net Yards: 216 Texas Points Scored: 78 Points Against: 74 Net Points: 4 Total Yards: 812 Total Yards Against: 1014 Net Yards: -202 Texas Tech Points Scored: 60 Points Against: 98 Net Points: -38 Total Yards: 985 Total Yards Against: 999 Net Yards: -14 Taken in its totality, it's rather obvious that Oklahoma is the most impressive in the head-to-head results. Advantage: Oklahoma. If last week's poll results stay relatively stable - given that every team in the top 10 either won or was idle - this is how the computer rankings should break down: 1. Alabama (.970), 2. Texas (.960), 3. Oklahoma (.940), 4. Florida (.880), 5. Utah (.830). And the BCS standings would look like this: 1. Alabama (.987), 2. Oklahoma (.926), 3. Texas (.921), 4. Florida (.909), 5. USC (.797). The biggest loser this weekend, without a doubt, is USC. The Trojans not only don't have a shot at the BCS title game, their AP title hopes also evaporated with Oregon State's loss to Oregon. By being forced to play in the Rose Bowl against Penn State, there is little chance for USC to claim the AP title, as opposed to a Fiesta Bowl matchup against either Oklahoma or Texas. So, assuming the voters actually do their homework and not go nuts or conspiracy-happy, here's the Guru's projection of the penultimate BCS standings: 1. Alabama, 2. Oklahoma, 3. Texas, 4. Florida, 5. USC, 6. Utah, 7. Penn State, 8. Texas Tech, 9. Boise State, 10. Ohio State, 11. TCU, 12. Ball State, 13. Cincinnati, 14. Oklahoma State, 15. Oregon.

What annoys you?
The economy. Politicians. Inaccurate weather reporting. No tie breaker play-offs in college football. working 70+ hours in a week. Getting a ticket for a illegal lane change last week. are you for real! Knowing that as I get older everything annoys me! >

Question about bass getting used to lures, HOPE THIS MAKES SENSE
I'm glad to see the posts leaning toward supporting this, I've always felt that I could get better response by fishing with something thats not a popular bait on high pressure lakes. I like to avoid Berkley soft plastics and like to throw a large ring worm in a natural color hoping it gives a different look, I also will try to throw some of my old hard baits like a Rapala broken back minnow a bit. I have some rat-l-traps, Red crank baits, and soft plastics in tequila sunrise and red shad that just quit working..it's probably that I just lost faith in them and they don't get wet anymore! :-/
