It'll be fine. A clicking drag is pretty much useless for a frog reel unless you back it off after the hookset, and you'd never do that. It's about the same size as a Tatula CT. I barely see and feel difference holding them.

I stay in good yak shape it seems. I feel fine afterward even after the first trip of the year. However, nothing gets me in wading condition other than wading. It takes me a few weeks of going consistently before I don't feel beat up. Typical resistance training doesn't really replicate climbing 2-3 feet down then back up undercut banks on odd angles weighed down with at least 20 lbs of gear plus fully soaked wading boots often covered in weeds. I have to wear my tackle bags out into the water. There are insane numbers of spiders on the ground here and chiggers are nothing I'm interested in dealing with. There are very few places around my lakes where the shoreline is in-plane with the water where I can stroll right in. It's mostly sheer drops as I described or steep banks crisscrossed with roots. Plenty of ways to faceplant or worse on the way down or up, so muscles get used that never get used otherwise when dealing with unusual angles while trying to steady myself going in and out. I fished way less than usual last season because I was just trying to fully heal up from a few niggling rehab'd injuries, so I'd start to really feel it in my lower back more quickly than usual. I'm switching up my back routine to try to stay ahead of that this coming season.

I made a bunch of new fishing acquaintances and some legit buddies when I started up again. During that process I often fished alone, which I'm perfectly fine with. I like it. The group of guys who passed through my filter were all on the same wavelength, so that's who I chose to meet up and fish with if I decided to fish with anyone. I told each one the same thing right off the bat, that I always assume that I'm fishing alone. I'll shoot a text saying I'll be there and about when. If you show, you show. If you don't, or can't, no hard feelings. I'm not interested in hearing excuses or having to make any, so it's a 2-way street. The only exception is for when the place is too dangerous to fish at without backup. Gangs... Things come up for everyone and I have enough drama in my life already. Fishing is for fun. I watch fishing tournaments, but nobody in my circle watches pro fishing tournaments, not even my brother. Nobody I know of outside of my immediate circle, and I know a lot of people who bass fish, watch pro fishing or even follow it with the exception of one kid. He actually chose a college because it has a fishing program. All of these guys are obsessed, like really obsessed, but they could care less about the pros other than the kid. They know a name or two, but that's it. Also, I know of none who are regulars on any fishing forums. They get their info from YT and perhaps from some specialty forums on FB or local FB groups. Few are regular participants in any group. They get whatever info they need, and they're gone. Very few are active. Regardless of how many fishing licenses are sold each year, the audience for pro tournament bass fishing is clearly very small outside of the people who do it, their families, and perhaps some of their friends. Look at the weigh-in audiences, when they happen to show them. The Classic is an outlier. That's why pro bass fishing is cash poor. Most people just don't care about it. Some will care more with someone like Milliken coming in, or the next Milliken-esque YT star who's up to scratch and can qualify because they'll bring their audiences with them. Their audiences will buy the stuff they promote, and those sales will be measurable as will the watch time for tournaments. I'd bet nothing drove last year's Open's numbers more than Milliken's audience. The site crashes during weigh-ins were ridiculous and annoying.
