  1. Using green for mono really helped a bunch as it cut the possibilites in half, and 10/12/15/20 all seem to be different enough to tell, if they are the same maker. Inevitably I'll have something new and it'll get lost in the mix. Time to start labeling I think.
  2. These things really work, I drink one on the way to the lake in the summer, and maybe another one after lunch. My difference in energy level is dramatic with/without. I try to pound a lot of water, and it's so hot here that no matter how much I drink it is really still not enough. Maybe that's why my hat looks more like an umbrella.
  3. Tatsu is made with the same process as their leader lines, which is different than invisx/abrasx. Net net it is different. Somewhere around here I posted the specific response I got when I emailed Seaguar about it. With all that said, a 25yd spool of blue label leader is $10 on amazon, and it appears to be a little stiffer and a little harder shell than tatsu, and is a far less expensive way to try out whether a change would make a difference for you.
  4. The ones with hydrostatic sensors only go off under about 4" of water. It's pretty clever.
  5. I think flake (shiny flake not black) might be it's own decision as a different one than color. First saw this on a day where it was sunny and I could just not get on fish at all. As soon as I changed to no flake I immediately started catching, and this was true mid-column and on the bottom.
  6. Reminds me of one evening a few summers ago where the bass were crashing the gills so hard one of the gills jumped in the boat.
  7. Fished it vs the Fat Impact? I have both and always reach for the FA, but I'm curious about real-world experience on the differences.
  8. And one more for the airborne ranger in the sky...
  9. re Seaguar on amazon being legit - I trust 'ships from and sold by amazon' and poor fish outdoors (another seller there with solid ratings). It's definitely flouro (burn test), and it feels like the rest of my Tatsu. Oh yeah I buy blue label leader there too. I was a little worried about it based on some chatter here an elsewhere but amazon is solid about taking stuff back that isn't right. I'd really rather buy it from the local guys or TW but ...$229 (1000 yard, 15lb) plus shipping at TW and $159 at amazon... I'll pay a little more but at some point it is grossly more expensive and takes longer to get, I'm out. The price gap is the same on invisx. re: invisx - I used the 20lb quite a bit on a heavy crankbait application. It's still spooled and -for that application- tatsu isn't better enough to warrant taking the invisx off and respooling. It gets the job done, and my buddy uses it for everything. But IMO it is even more stretchy than tatsu and it wouldn't be my first pick for bottom contact. It has not failed me on two very large fish. No matter what you do, get KVD or some other line conditioner. And to your original question about how long it lasts - the one nagging thing that bothers me about flouro is every little bit I snip off is pretty much going to never degrade. It's a bit of a train wreck in terms of pollution so I'm really careful to pack out any snippets. On the upside, it lasts forever because it seems impervious to UV or water. I'm only two seasons in but I don't see any degradation yet.
  10. If you are going to buy tatsu, do it on amazon. It's the only fishing stuff I buy there, but it's a monster discount.
  11. On of my rods is 50lb braid to 20lb flouro leader on semi-micro guides, works great with the FG knot. It's really not very complicated to tie, it's just a bit tedious until you get comfortable with the little nuances like making two half-hitches very tight before you set the knot. It's worth learning though if you are going to use a leader - the difference in break strength is significant. By the way, don't put the braid in your mouth... just tie it to your belt loop or a buttonhole on your shirt. Too hard to see when it's right by your face. Otherwise just get used to the noise and don't worry about the uni knot banging around... although if you want a simple knot a six-turn surgeon might do better for you - easy to tie and strong.
  12. This works really well. Glenn probably has a video on it too, but I couldn't find it. Almost always just pops right out. And if you are fishing an unweighted senko on a windy day, it's higher risk for a gut hook. So if you crush the barb down when conditions are like this you are far more likely to be able to get it out this way.
  13. Zip-zilla zipper worm sent to me by a forum member. Might have to break em out this weekend. https://fishingcompleteinc.com/collections/zipper-worm-company/products/zip-zilla It's silly big, but I fish in texas so there's stuff around here that can eat it. The next size down is probably more practical unless you really know you are in monster-land.
  14. That's a biggg fish, look at all that weight in the tail end of it. I think @WRB's estimate isn't crazy.
  15. They breed like crazy and make the bass extra-fat.
  16. Sounds like it's time!
  17. I kept telling myself to do the things others won't do to get the results they can't get. I was getting up early enough to be on the water at daybreak for a while, and then I noticed I wasn't catching much that was interesting in the mornings. But evenings were pretty good, so I quit worrying about getting up early. Maybe different on other waters, but it was pretty consistent where I am. Sure is pretty in the early morning in Texas in the summer though.
  18. Is the Space Monkey different enough to matter vs the Lobster or the Craw? Yeah they are a little different, but I can't tell if they are different enough to matter. I'm trying to simplify some, but not too much. I did notice the Monkey claws wont flap with 1/8oz weight, but I don't recall if the others do either.
  19. Eh I recall learning it as just a wee little bit of click. Maybe that's why my non-sv spools feel like they are riding wild mid-cast.
  20. Here's I finally settled on for me: Tie it to a belt loop or a button on your shirt and lean the rod out for tension. Arbor knot works great. Far enough away from your face to see it, don't need to hunt for gadgets or tools.
  21. 1) buy the unlocked or AT&T version of the new phone. 2) when it arrives put your sim card in it. 3) test it and make sure everything works fine 4) change your plan It's really straightforward because the number is connected to the SIM not the phone. I keep an old phone around as an emergency phone in case my main phone dies. Takes just a minute to swap it out and keep going.
  22. I have a bunch of both of them. A slight preference for the new one because it's smaller, but the older one feels more...refined? It's not a very good description, but net net I'm not replacing my old ones, and I can't tell enough difference even with the size to move reels around so that the new ones are on my more frequently fished rods. If you care a lot about the size get the new one. Otherwise if you can get an older one at a great price just do that.
  23. Underrated texas color for sure. And for the most consistent color, at least in a senko, is GP/watermelon laminate. For whateve reason I bought off on Gary's comment about making the color because he was tired of trying to decide whether to throw GP or throw watermelon. I think I like the GP/watermelon laminate because darker back lighter belly is a common thing in much of what they eat anyway. Not a fan of the black and blue/junebug laminates though.
  24. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-river-bug Also in crawberry. For what it's worth the yamamoto 222 color is very similar.
