  1. P-line's #2 fits just right. For some reason the owner #2 is comically giant. Still have no idea what I'm going to do with the packs of them sitting around. My best guess is it is either quality control issues or impact/shock issues where they pop open vs a steady pull. It has unfortunately happened to me on a hookset with the crosseyes, and so all I'll ever have is a picture of the snap instead of a picture of what was surely a giant fish /wink.
  2. The seaguar line on amazon is almost always at an unbeatable price, and is legit. There are some amazon.jp JDM baits on there as well, but you really have to be looking for something specific to find them.
  3. Roughly neutrally bouyant. I don't use it for topwater, BG or Armillo for that.
  4. Only a backhand cast. Didn't really think about it till this thread. No problem with either hand. Anything else, a total train wreck.
  5. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Owner_Hyper_Crosslock_Snaps/descpage-OHCS.html I use these in 72lb for the jackhammer, and have a few on the crosseyes. P-line has a 65lb https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/P-Line_Crosslock_Snap/descpage-BBR.html that works too, but I think the shape of the Owner bend is closer to the orginal. It is possible to install these without pliers, just keep working the angles and you'll see it. Once you do it is a few minutes at most.
  6. I have that net and it works for me. Primary use is a similar sized boat. Be aware of a few things 1) Because of the curve in the handle it will take a wider space to store it. 2) It is well-suited for landing at kayak height; if you are standing on a deck you won't like it at all 3) The hoop is compact given what it is made for...which requires some finesse on 25" fish... go headfirst not sideways. With all that, it's nearly perfect for a one-handed net.
  7. Only a wake-up to go. Nothing left to do but obsess over whether I should try to jam "just this one other thing" in the bag.
  8. PSA, don't let soft plastics touch these... the softener works on this bait too. I like it, but be careful letting a senko sit on it.
  9. Solid patterns have been really tough for me this year. Lots of days felt like junk fishing or struggle. Frustrating because I couldn't figure them out. But... broke my PB twice, with some monsters. And caught "get the net" fish more this year than ever. 'Suppose I should just keep doing what I'm doing.
  10. Decided to try double buzzbaits out... anything to know about how/when/where to fish them vs a regular buzzbait?
  11. I went and looked, these are the ones I actually bought. Mini bolt-cutters. https://www.amazon.com/Capri-Tools-CP40209-40209-Klinge/dp/B01018D2CS/
  12. Chatterbaits below, don't fish enough on the swimjig to have anything useful. Most fish: bluegill or GP, usually dipped tail. Biggest fish: White. This year I've started fishing edges where shallow hits deep with the white if the BG has been good in the shallow flats, and it has been good for picking up a few more fish. Sleeper color: In Texas, in clearer water in the spring the GP/maroon jackhammer with a rage bug in falcon craw is really good. Looks just like the craws in the region that time of year. I've had success in both central and north texas with this color. It's on my list to try it a little more in the off-season.
  13. The follow-up post I never wanted to make... Today I needed the side cutters. ? I was putting away some tackle, and picked up an open box. Apparently one of the hooks from a lipless was caught on something, and as luck would have it, my thumb was right under the other hook. 6th sense has great hooks, if you are on the catching end of the lure. Not so much the caught end of it. Usually I can do the braid trick but with pliers, but that hook was not moving. Probably the deep EWG bend and a big ol' barb. Of course, it was dark already, and I was fishing alone. Anyway I have other stuff to do than pay for and watch a doctor do the same thing I'm going to do, but with lidocaine and three extra hours. Anyway it was close enough to the skin to jam it out the other side. I thought that part was going to be easier; it wasn't at all, and I had to yank twice to get it to poke through. Pulled out the side cutters and it cut through that big hook like butter. Related, is there a trick to getting the deep EWG-style hooks out? If you don't have a pair of side cutters, tab over to amazon right now and get a pair. The 15 bucks saved me a lot of drama.
  14. Fins Sling Braid is great. Super smooth and colorfast. But the actual dark green is tough to find if it is even made anymore, so you are left with this light green color that I really don't like. Vicious no-fade braid has been great so far; bought it to try, bought another spool because it was good, and considering a 1500-yard spool to just be done with it. Both of the braids above run thin for the LB test so pay attention to diameter - if I recall correctly 40lb fins and sling braid are smaller than 30lb 832. Don't be shocked when you see the price - not having to toss the line because it is nearly white from fading is worth it.
  15. I got a great deal on a Steez SV and always wanted to try one, so I did. It's a great reel. Then the zillions came out, with a bunch of hubbub, so I thought I'd give that a run too. Bought one, and now I'm in the process of trading out a bunch of tatula SV's for the zillions. The multi-stage spool in the zillion is really interesting, as it isn't nearly as choked off at the end.
  16. Where are those available? I don't see a 6'9" anywhere. Also which model are yall using?
  17. For y'all having bite from behind hook-set challenges, consider trying braid with a leader. You won't need to get much movement to get that hook good and set. Yeah I know it's a PITA to fiddle with a leader. I prefer a little softer rod with braid though. Or at least try it on heavier line which should start stretching later in your hookset.
  18. P-Line Technical Snap - Tackle Warehouse The smallest size of these work great on frogs and chatterbaits, and a full-body frog hookset on braid won't bend them even a little bit. They are pretty big for most other presentations though. One thing I learned the hard way is that a snap that has really thin wire diameter doesn't play well with flouro at all. After going through at least ten different snaps, I finally found what I was looking for. The tactical anglers micro-size clips seem perfect for crankbaits, and they are small but use decent diameter wire to make the paperclip.
  19. While we are on the luckycraft topic, anyone know where to get pointer 158's? They seem to be out of stock everywhere.
  20. BioSpawn Exoswim - I've started buying them more and more after seeing what they look like on the back of a swimjig. Jackall Rhythm Wave - more subtle than a keitech, kind of a tight wiggle vs a waggle.
  21. 1/15 oz ned, with a proper tiny hook. No need for the EWG style - while the hook is exposed it is tiny so doesnt catch on much and when it does it pops out easily. Swim senko on a weighted swimbait hook. It won't dig in the way a texas rig would, it'll just lay on top of the grass. Easy to shorten op if you think 5" isn't finessy enough.
  22. Do you find it better or worse on knot strength specifically?
