  1. my daiwa tatula 7’1 heavy definitely doesn’t feel like an all around “heavy” rod. the blank towards the bottom near the reel seat is almost the same diameter as my tatula medium heavies. definitely more backbone though
  2. 7ft medium action with 8lb test is my go to. i’ll sometimes throw a fluke on casting gear with slightly heavier line in the summer when tossing in thicker cover
  3. dark sleeper by far. i have like 8 of them in every size and weight and have thrown them a ton. never once got a sniff
  4. i've switched from powerpro to sufix 832 and has been great for me this year. super quiet and haven't run into any issues at all
  5. SPRO Russ Lane Fat Papa
  6. water temps should be rising so look for points that are close to shallower flats and have deep water access. fish should be moving up. throw jerkbaits, hair jigs, ned rigs, shallow cranks, tubes try this point right at the beginning of the sherman arm
  7. Daiwa Tatula Elite 7' ML casting rod. Specifically designed for shallow crankbaits, jerkbaits, and light topwater. I have it and it is up there as one of my favorite setups.
  8. hard to beat 3.8" keitech swing impact fats and keitech easy shiners. throw them on a ball head (weight depending on depth you're fishing) or an underspin
  9. ever? or currently like year to date?
  10. haha i noticed that shortly after i visited navionics to look at the lake structure
  11. i would target smallmouth and try to get a limit with hair jigs, ned rig, tubes, jerkbaits. look for rocky points and humps that are near deeper water
  12. daiwa tatula elite 7'3" MH all purpose. i use it for everything from flukes, senkos, jigs, texas rigs, chatterbaits, swim jigs, topwaters, and swimbaits
  13. i don't toss them much but i have a few Strike King HC KVD Wakebait's that have caught some decent fish
  14. early spring and prespawn: jerkbait, chatterbait, 2.8"-4" keitech on a ball head prespawn and spawn: flat sided crankbait, wiggle wart, chatterbait post spawn all the way to fall: chatterbait, swim jig, topwater, jerkbait
  15. uhhhh candlewood is just shy of 5400 acres and the most heavily pressured lake in the state with 4-5 tournaments a week from early April to October... and it still takes over 20 pounds minimum to win a tournament 99% of the time. not sure what you're talking about when it comes to the quality of fishing
  16. long island sound and the coastal river systems have been decent with bigger fish moving in. we're right behind you
  17. you can throw some trebles on a stick and catch schoolies all day up here lol
  18. one of my favorite ways to catch them. the hair jig bite has been on fire right for a couple weeks
