i'd start with a 7' or longer heavy action casting rod with a 7 or 8 speed reel. pair it up with some 50 pound braid and you should be good to go! as far as frogs, i like the live target hollow body frog, and spro bronze eye frog 65
  4. hello, welcome, and congrats on your retirement!
  5. 1/2 oz. nichols pulsator metal flake in “clents shad spawn”
  6. he probably wanted to wait another day for the weather and warmer water? that's my only guess. i'm not sure how the seeding worked
  7. zack birge just caught a fish and it initially weighed 1lb. 14oz. which is non score-able. he requested to weigh it again and it came up 2lb. 2oz. a FOUR ounce difference and that is absolutely ridiculous in my eyes. how many of these weights are not correct and causing anglers to not have their correct weights recorded that deeply effect their standings?
  8. McCoy is my favorite co-poly by far. i just re-stocked all of my 12lb, 15lb, and 17lb
  9. lake zoar and lillinonah get more stained due to them both being river systems especially if it rains or if their is a storm. east twin, bantam, highland, candlewood, mashapaug are typically much clearer. what lakes do you fish?
  10. most all lakes here in CT have pretty good visibility. fish with your natural green pumpkins and watermelons, and black and blue for low light days or if the water has a little bit of stain to it due to rain
  11. definitely another staple in worm fishing. i tried to keep it simple for the new guy with a few to start with!
  12. i fish around a lot of grass, wood, rock, and zebra mussels. obvious rocks/boulders or zebra mussel can tear up any line, but away from that i didn't experience any issue with abrasion resistance
  13. i'd look into learning how to rig a texas rig, wacky rig, or a neko rig which is pretty much a wacky rig with a light nail weight in the nose of your worm. all are absolute fish catchers!
  14. imagine trying to compare this to the classic lol
  15. man that's awful. from what it looks like and described above, the reeds played a huge factor. i don't understand why anyone would be flying through those lanes without some sort of clear path and visibility. tragic
  16. i used it a bunch last season. it was great until all of a sudden turned into a slinky. no problems with breakage or knot tying though
  17. berkley half heads and the lunker city ned head have great keepers on them
  18. wacky rig, jig, texas rig
  19. i ALMOST convinced my wife to go on a deep sea fishing excursion on our honeymoon. yeah that didn't happen ?
  20. scary stuff. wishing you the best and hope everything is okay
  21. she's on board with it. one day out of the whole week is fine and we constantly encourage eachother to spend time doing things with friends etc. i am a very lucky man!
  22. my wife understands that fishing is my favorite hobby and that i do commit a lot of my own free time away from work to the sport of fishing. i also realize that i need to commit my own free time away from work to her needs and wants too. we have our first child on the way and due in august.. so i am going to fish as many tournaments as i can before that (and after) without getting scolded lol. we do our best to balance all of those things together. sometimes it causes a bump in the road for sure, but relationships are all about compromise!
