  1. Thanks everyone! All the "mgl, sv, dc, svtw, ct, G..." gets a little confusing lol That elite p/f has me interested. Curious if it's easy to pitch skip with it. I know that's a technique that can probably be done with any reel...but with only going fishing once or twice a month, it's nice to have a reel that helps reduce overspin on skipping...thoughts?
  2. What about skipping? I know sometimes when flipping, it’s nice to be able to skip a jig up under cover…would a dc/sv help with this?
  3. Just curious what you all would pair with a high end flipping rod. Lightweight? Gear ratio? Just a fun question to get your ideas…. Maybe a metanium dc 8:1? Thoughts?
  4. I think you are the winner. I think that's a good idea...use it for a few times...then if it's not good enough to bump any others out...sell it for a small profit or at least break even. Thanks! I have a feeling it will work great...just wish it was what I ordered ha. Thanks again to all who gave suggestions!
  5. Cool! Have you had a chance to use it yet? Pretty good sensitivity?
  6. Definitely fish from a boat. Why would you consider it a keeper? Any experience with this rod? Thanks
  7. But its a $550 rod that I got for $250…soo if’s better than one of my current rods…then I would rather bounce that one. Make sense? So I’m just trying to see if anyone has used this rod and what they think of it.
  8. I guess what I was really hoping for, was to hear from someone who has used the rod and can give some feedback. Anyone ever use this rod? Is it a good bottom contact or flippin/pitchin rod? Thanks
  9. Ok so I bought a Steez at 50% off from sierra. They advertised as a 6'9M rod but when I received it, I got a 7'4"XH rod (stz741xhfb-ags). So my question is...what do you think I should do? It's still in the plastic wrap. I have read that it's an amazing frog rod, but I typically use a shorter rod for frog since most of the areas I fish aren't that heavy to get fish out of and I prefer a shorter rod to work the frog. I have also heard it's pretty sensitive so maybe I could use it as a dedicated pitch/flip rod. There's just not much info out there on this rod. The place I bought it from doesn't have any more Steez rods (or anything even comparable). They have offered to give me a refund but I got it at such a great deal, I want to explore all my options first. I was planning to use this rod as a good, light moving bait rod but I don't have a huge need for that. So what would you do? Return it, sell it on the forsale forum page, ebay, or keep it? Any other ideas? I don't have any major needs for rods right now...but could always replace one of my moving bait rods with a steez. Anyone have any history with this rod? Thanks for your thoughts!
  10. LOL I think we (fellow BR forum friends) bought them all...currently out of stock. I picked one up and I didn't need one lol...if you would have told me this morning I would be purchasing a 6'9MH by the end of the day I would have laughed...thanks A LOT "latest sale thread"...slowly draining my bank account
  11. I thought this only worked for FC
  12. I would do this...great reel!
  13. You can pick up a Lews hypermag right now on sale for $250. I have several reels above that price and it handles just as nice.
  14. Tom, how do you like your vanford? I need to get a new reel for an NRX and was thinking about a twin power, but not sure it's worth the upgrade cost. And it's a little heavier. Thanks
  15. Anyone use a NRX 803S JWR? wondering if it would be good for a ned rig or too short and stiff?
  16. Thank you all for your suggestions! I actually ended up going with two and either I'll pick one and send the other back or just keep both ha. I got the Simms Challenger and then I also got the Marmot Preclip Ecojacket. It was just $100 and has really good reviews so I thought I would try it. Hopefully at least one of these will do the trick. I was going to go with Arcteryx but for the cost of one of those, I could get both of these, and since it will be a fishing jacket...I don't want to be really worried about damaging it. So I guess we will see how things go
  17. Was going to start a new thread...but saw this old one and thought I would revive it. Any other thoughts on the best rain jacket? I'm looking to keep one just for fishing. Would like a waterproof/gortex shell that isn't too bulky. I have bought several of the simms jackets and just didn't like the fit. What's your favorite jacket? thanks
  18. LOL...glad I could make your day a little brighter. Sometimes the southern comes out a little too strong. Yall have a great day!
  19. Ok...you talked me into it Pulled the trigger this afternoon and picked it up. Can't wait to use it. Am I the only one that seems to be drawn to rods <7' for covering shallow water? Just seems to be easier to present the bait more subtle and accurately. Guess we will see how this one goes...probably needs to kick one of my others out...but I am guessing I'll just add on to the craziness.. Thank you again everyone for the advice!
  20. I am a rod junkie...I admit it lol. Just curious what techniques (ie football jig, swim jig, squarebill...) do you have tied on at all times, and then which do you tie on if the conditions are right? Just a fun question...don't take it too seriously
  21. Looking to get a good all around spinnerbait/casting rod. My local shop has these two and both I know are pretty sensitive and have great reviews. Which would you go with for a spinnerbait rod? Looking at target casting mainly with 3/8-1/2 spinnerbaits. Would probably use it as well for other general casting applications. Not asking you to figure out the rod for me though...just asking which you would pick and why. They also have an Imx pro 842mbr but I think that wouldn't be stout enough to set a big spinnerbait hook. Thanks
  22. Thank you all for your help and advice. I guess what I have found is that I like rods that perform above their price…not sure why lol. I guess that’s why I love exprides. So I think I am going to stick with the mb p5 series. From the reviews I have seen, they seem to be really well regarded. I haven’t made up my mind completely but that’s the way I’m leaning. I’m sure an NRX or steez will eventually make it into the boat though once things become more available. Thoughts?
  23. NRX is just a benchmark. Just like there are “better” and faster cars than the 911…everything is compared to it
  24. Can you compare the briaillist with the nrx? Are they even in the same ballpark? Sounds like you would definitely go for the nrx…what do you think? Is there a big difference in sensitivity between the nrx and briaillist?
