  1. yep! same! Not sure what happened. Annoying since I just went through and selected quite a few for family to select from...since apparently us fisherman are "impossible to buy for" ha
  2. Funny you brought that up. I was just walking through my garage and stopped and looked at the rods. Was thinking about the 844c nrx and wonder if it would be a good swim jig rod. What do yall think? Definitely will use it for topwater...looking forward to trying a few different topwater presentations with it. What do you think about the 844 as a swim jig rod? Should have good sensitivity and power...just not sure if it will be able to accurately present a lighter swim jig like 3/8.
  3. Thanks. I guess I should have left Matt completely out of it. Really had nothing to do with the question. I guess I am just asking qualities of the 844c mbr make it good for topwater lures. So if you have fished the 844, then I would love to hear your thoughts.
  4. Ok thanks! Yeh it does seem like a great rod! thanks everyone for the great feedback!
  5. If I had to guess, he probably uses it mostly for walking baits. It’s a pretty stiff 7’ rod but still has a pretty good moderate bend. So it can walk the bait pretty easily with its power, but still can keep those trebles in with its more forgiving action.
  6. Matt from Tacticalbassin has said several times that the 844c mbr is his favorite topwater rod. Just curious what makes it so good. I wonder if he is using it mainly for walking baits, or just all around (walking/popper/buzz). I know he knows what he is talking about so just wanted to see what you thought. I couldn’t find a video where he explained why.
  7. Hey have you had a chance to try this rod out? I'm wondering if it's THE rod for 1/2-3/4oz football jigs. Thanks
  8. Have you ever used the 844 for other techniques? Eg lipless, toowater…just curious
  9. Could you share when you choose which specific technique? Thanks
  10. Did you pick up the 862? Just wondering how you like it. Anyone else have this rod?
  11. so you have the nrx 844 and the nrx 873? I assume you have a football jig primarily on your 873. What do you use your 844 primarily for? thanks
  12. Have you used it for anything heavier? eg 3/4 jig with trailer? I typically use my 873 for up to 1/2oz
  13. Mind sharing why braid over fc? Did you use straight fc in the past? Thanks
  14. Mind if I ask why? What's the deciding factor for you to chose fc over braid? Thanks
  15. Mind sharing why? Anyone else notice increased slack line sensitivity?
  16. Yeh I was wondering what would be a good rod for 1/2-1oz jig trailer combo. So the nrx 894 is the best for that?
  17. Clarification: when I said braid I meant braid to leader…usually fc leader. didn’t think about the abrasion resistance. But man…fishing with braid and an nrx…sensitivity is crazy! sounds like majority is straight fluoro tho interesting
  18. Hey just curious which you prefer. I have a few jig rods and a couple have fluoro and a few have braid. I think braid has more straight line sensitivity and fluoro has better slack line sensitivity. Is that correct? I noticed that I definitely feel more stretch when dragging a football jig with fluoro which I dont love… just want your thoughts. What do you use and why? For football, pitching, skipping and casting jigs. Same line for all of what? thanks
  19. Good question! I've been fishing fluoro. That's what I have on the xbites and crr. When I got the 844, I just threw on a hypermag reel I had laying around and it has braid on it. The straight line sensitivity is definitely better on braid! But I think the slack line sensitivity is better with fluoro. Still testing. Thoughts?
  20. Finally got to a pond and put a jig on the 844, as well as the same size jig on the crr and xbites. And of course...the dang 844 was just as sensitive as the CRR and the xbites. So it answered nothing ha...except that I got three unbelievably sensitive rods. Not sure what to do now...I guess it's a good problem to have.
  21. Thank you for taking the time to share that great response!
