What a difference 12 hrs makes. Diesel 3.05, unleaded 2.08 in Wylie, TX
  2. I agree, wouldn't want to travel any farther than the Pickwick RT a couple years ago. That drive was a beating. That said, I have always wanted to do a southeastern tour and hit lakes from TX to FL and back. Figure I would need a few weeks off and a pretty good gas card to do this but I'll keep wishing!

Diesel is running 3.11 around my area today. I'm enjoying the low price but see the downside to it as well. Our many oilfield companys are being squeezed (jobs), and royalty checks (mine) are coming in weak as well. My best guess is that it is a self correcting situation given a little time. Oversupply and low prices increase consumption which lead to tighter supplies and higher prices. I would prefer that North American oil not be over produced as it seems a world power that relys completely on others for energy is not really a world power. Looking forward to jumping into some energy stocks, just not yet. JMHO
  4. Sent mine out to OKC yesterday!
  5. Going to try. No plane ticket yet but watching!
  6. Down home gets my vote for best. Can't swing a dead cat around without hitting great bass lakes. Ok, a long tailed cat, because EVERYTHING in TX is far away! Something like 900 miles the long way across. Not sure about worse, caught bass everywhere I've tried
  7. I can't miss this one since it's so close (5 hrs) but have conflicts. My son is TX BASS youth and high school director and their state championship is the 21st on Texoma. I usually set up with him the day before and help during launch and weigh in. My plan is to head down Tues or Wed and depart Fri morning. Would any of the locals be willing to throw in with me to provide Wed night fish fry and/or shrimp/crawfish boil? BTW, this will be my first time on TB and I'm pumped!!
  8. What kind of weeds? Hydrilla, slim grass, or ?? Swimbaits come to mind but senkos are great in weedy ponds
  9. As Andrew is suggesting, could the gas have gotten old? Maybe just running it is all it needed. Congrats on your purchase.
  10. Not really a helpful story but thought I'd share. I bought a 9 month old Skeeter back in 1989. It came from a guy who liquidated repo boats for a savings and loan that traveled with the big boat shows doing on the spot financing. It was at the time that the big savings and loan crisis was going on. I went to look at the Skeeter and the guy told me he was instructed by the s&l to sell his inventory for any reasonable cash offer. The boat was like new and had a 19k loan balance. I bought it for 10k cash, I told my buddy and he bought a 6 month old Champion for 11k the same day. The next day the bank closed its doors.
  11. Put in at the public ramp on the south side of the 154 bridge. Go under the bridge and there will be a large cove on ur right. That's Searcy, fish it all day front to back then back to front. Best of luck
  12. Many many ramps on Fork. Pick one near where you'll fish and you should be fine.
  13. Cork for me. I like them best when they are getting old and the cork gets dirty from the oils in our hands.
  14. DD22 is a staple for most anglers I know. They just flat work. Don't be afraid to fish them in shallower water as well as the 15-18' they usually run. Love, love, love working them through timber and feeling them getting slammed as they come clear of the last branch.
  15. Ordered the Lowrance to Yamaha cable and the NEMA starter kit off Ebay. Going to remove all gauges from the dash on my Stroker and use the info page on my HDS unit for everything
  16. Can anybody tell me if the gauges on the info page are user definable? Can I set up the unit with the gauges I want or is there a predetermined gauge panel that cannot be changed?
  17. Same place we all would go in an empty room with a bucket of KFC on the floor. Yep, fish where you think the food is.
  18. Never had one mounted but have considered a fiberglass replica a couple times. Would love to have one in the study!
  19. 3/16 or 1/4 Spot Remover with a 7" Robo straight tail in Arron's Magic R&B or Mean Green is MONEY
  20. I have not found anything the 50's can't do. Love that size reel
  21. Boats are great. I have a couple and love them both. When I bought my first boat I began to learn the depth of the addicition of fishing. Every year it's gotten worse. Now my stock of plastics take up my entire master bedroom closet, I've got new rods I've never fished and find new tackle in the garage I dont remember buying. My wife crys when I spool my reels, the dog doesn't know who I am. Enjoy, take the wife or SO if you can, finda balance between fishing and everything else.
  22. That's really two different rods to me. I will say that the Duckett Ghost seems to be nice and light in that price range althought I don't own any. Good luck
  23. Congrats and condolences my friend.
