2015 Unofficial Road Trip (Also Known As The Baked Potato Classic)

Featured Replies

2 queens are $105/day. $650/week in the Delta motel. The week rate is $718/week with taxes out the door I think.

2 doubles are $95/day $550/week in the motel. $617/week with taxes out the door I think.

Rooms are blocked but YOU MUST MAKE YOUR OWN RESERVATION.

They also have some rv spaces available....but not sure of availability.

Moderator Edit: Add 12% tax to above rates.

Hello,

I regret to inform you that there will not be an official BR RoadTrip in 2015. Unfortunately the event has struggled to gain traction, momentum, and numbers.  Essentially, we have the same number of people attend every year, and most of them are the same familiar faces - meaning it's not growing.  At the same time, expenses continue to rise and rise.  To add to it, we've struggled to get sponsors due to the low numbers.

We've tried many different venues and timeframes, plus different speakers, giveaways, lodging and dinner options, and big fish awards.  But the event simply isn't resonating with most people.  The last few events, we've struggled to get enough boaters to attend.

So, I've pulled the plug on the event.

But fear not!  Long Mike is spearheading an unofficial RoadTrip for 2015.  This will be an informal get-together of forum members at a destination of their choosing.  Please contact Mike if you're interested.  Although it won't be a BassResource sanctioned event, I'm sure it will be fun for all who attend.

Glenn

What areas do these trips typically cover?

  • Author

Sorry to hear that.

While I have only been on the last two.......I think they were great.

I really appreciate all of the hard work and endeavors you have put into pulling the road trips together as well as keeping the forum running.

While I will miss the official BassResource Roadtrips.......I hope you will attend the 'unofficial' Roadtrip if you can......I really enjoyed fishing with you last year.

I'd like to see a official plan thread when it's made

Not knowing what my future will hold schedule wise I can't confirm but Definatly interested in having you guys make fun my of goofy bait cast cast lol

That's really too bad, understandable but too bad.

Last year was my first.

Mrs Mike and I really enjoyed meeting you and Keri and finally putting a face to a name.

We met people that we wouldn't normally have had a chance too, but more importantly we feel fortunate to have had a chance to make new friends.

Which is exactly what we did.

And for that, I thank you.

(Tell Keri Jeannie says Hi)

Mike

How about a road trip up north? There are a lot of us Yankees up here in lager more condensed areas. I bet you would get more people to show. Just a thought.

Any word on the 2015 BassResource Roadtrip?

I really need to get my time off into the work calendar, make arrangements for somebody to take care of the kiddo and just know how much dough I need to save up to meet expenses.

Only about 3 months to go :respect-059: ..........historically speaking.

Anytime you and Beckie want to come to Florida.  We will put you up at the lake house.

In fact, if anyone wants to come to Florida anytime between March and October I can get deals on cabins here

I have a place there and do all the emergency repairs to the sewer and water systems so I get great pricing anytime the snowbirds aren't here.

It is on Lake Lowery.  Kissimmee and Toho are about 30 min away.  An hour to get to the Harris Chain or Istokpoga and less than 2 hours from Okeechobee.

Prior to Glenn pulling the plug on the Official Road Trip, we had selected Toledo Bend as our next stop,  I spent two days down in Louisiana and Texas trying to locate the best spot for our trip.  We decided on the Fin & Feather Resort, located on the Texas side of the lake.

Accordingly, reservations have been made and a significant number of rooms have been blocked.  Because we are so short of time, I have elected to stick to our original plan, and hold the unofficial road trip beginning Wednesday, March 18th thru Monday March 23.

Toledo Bend is a world-class big bass lake, and the Fin & Feather is sited on Housen Bay, one of the most productive bays in the lake.  At the time of year we have selected, the bass should be in spawn or post-spawn mode.

I know that traveling to Toledo Bend is a very long drive for many of you, so I know that some of you who have attended our trips in the past will not be able to make it.  Trust me, you will be missed.  On the flip side of the coin, I want to invite our members from Louisiana and Texas, who have not been able to make previous trips to, for you, remote locations to join us in your own back yard.  Those attending will be invited to participate in the Biggest Bass contest.  This is not mandatory.  If you wish to participate it will cost you $20.  At the end of fishing on Sunday, the person who caught the largest bass for the week will take home all the money.  It should help pay for the gas.

So, without further ado,  Roadwarrior and I cordially invite you to attend the ninth annual, but unofficial, and unsanctioned Bass Resource Road Trip!

Sorry to hear that Glenn.  After the great time Jackie and I had at the 2011 trip, I can assure you that we would have been back every year if we hadn't been handcuffed in this current situation.

You and the entire road trip crew have gone above and beyond to put together a high quality opportunity for all of the members here for many years.

Oh yea. I've been looking forward to fishing one of the legendary lakes of Texas fame. Looks like I'll have the chance. Anyone looking to split expenses and/or share a ride?

I live close to you and would love to try Toledo Bend, but I'm not crazy about driving 1800 miles round trip to bed fish or fish for post spawners. If it was a pre-spawn bite, I'd be interested.

  • Author

I have never fished Toledo Bend....but from what I have read, the lake is large and there should still be plenty of prespawn fishing to do............probably just depends on the weather.

Its a 2 day drive for me lol but going to do anything in my power to get there. Will we get any special deals of rooms?

Bummer to hear ... I wanted to go last year but other commitments (namely a surgery) kept me from going.  Intended to go this year ... such a bummer.
