  1. I fish Fenwick ARK Denali W/M quantum and gander MTN brand rods. I fish whatever feels right for the application I need it for. If it feels right in the hand and meets all my requirements I don't care what it says on it
  2. I bought a lancer pro 7'6 heavy for punching I liked it enough I ordered an invoker pro for standard duty pitching and flipping. These rods fish well above there price point. I may even order a spinning rod to replace one of my Fenwick walleye rods which is sensitive enough you can feel a fish look at it i
  3. ARK lancer pro in whatever specs you like. For a frog rod I prefer heavy but with a little more tip to help walk them. These rods are $99 and fish well above there price point. Light weight well balanced sensitive and I believe 5 year warranty. I have some very high end rods and as I replace rods they are all getting switched to ARK. If you want to go up to a little higher price point they have the tharp series at 129 and the invoker at 150. I just ordered an invoker to replace a daiwa tatula flipping rod
  4. Alot of guys I fish with go super natural. I like my baits to stand out a little bit. I dont do so well with ultra realistic baits
  5. An old Indian once taught me. If your not getting snagged your not catching fish. Ok it wasn't an Indian but I heard that when I was very very young. And it holds true. Fish are like people they want to do as little as possible and be laying in there house waiting for food to be delivered
  6. Acetone should remove the paint.
  7. Hubs chub. Best topwater for small mouth ever made
  8. Flukes jigs and buzzbaits. I can fish those 3 things so many different ways I can pretty much catch fish on them any time
  9. I agree. Hard to beat a split tail or just a regular grub for a trailer. They sure don't get put on the trailer hook to entice a fish to hit just the trailer hook
  10. I'm a buzzbait fanatic. If you throw them on braid be sure to keep your drag loose or fish them on a rod with some give. I tried them on braid for one season and lost a few key fish due to what I assume was ripping big holes in there mouths and would loose them part way back to boat
  11. A walleye will eat no more or less forage than a bass. If the water is to small it's only going to support so many fish regardless of species. I would not be concerned. Sure they might eat a few small bass but most ponds could benefit from than any how. I would put money on bass eating more small bass than a few walleye
  12. Should spawning fish be released? Probably but what makes catching a bass off a bed any different than keeping some crappies or walleyes while they are spawning. Im a multi species angler but I do fish for bass the most. Point being bass are not some rare mythical creature. They are no different than any other fish besides the fact the are one of the most adaptable fish in most of our waters.
  13. Yes it's enough. I regularly fish electric only lakes in my 16.5 foot bass boat. Some of them over 1000 acres. You will be fine
  14. Me and my buddies that are on some forums together post honest reports but are always very vague on where. And never post what lake it is. Most our lakes fish relatively similar so you can take one local report and apply it to many of our other lakes and piece together your own success
  15. It all boils down to what is comfortable for you to use. Yes a longer rod will give you a bit of an advantage but if your not comfortably in control of that rod then it's moot. I'm only 5'9 but I have long arms. I can punch with a 7'6 with no problem. I've done it in a pinch with 7 foot rods and was just fine.
  16. I've done it plenty of time with a 7'3 with no real issues
  17. Do it like kayak tourneys. Go by total length using measuring boards. And I'd tags given out the day of the tourney.
  18. I typically try to buy the best rod I can afford and try to avoid the cheaper stuff but I was recently at our Walmart and came across a rod called insight I believe it is. It's a Bret Chapman signature rod labeled as a spinnerbait rod. I only paid like $40 for it and I'll tell you its extremely light and loads perfect for spinnerbaits. I caught some giant smallies on it about 3 weeks ago and not one fish came unglued. It's just rated as fast action. To me it feels like a med heavy mod fast/fast. It is EXACTLY what I was looking for in a spinnerbait rod. Its 7 foot and rated for 1/4 - 1 ounce. The only thing I do not care for is the reel seat.
  19. You could put a scouring pad on a dermel or a drill and try to polish alot of that boat rash off. Might not be able to get it all but could deffinately reduce alot of it
  20. My dad showed me that trick I must have only been 6 or 7 years old and I have never forgot it and I'll tell you it works. I just put them in a coffee cup with the hot water
  21. I soak all my spools in the hottest tap water I can get for about 5 minutes. This removed all memory on the line permanently. I do not do this with braid just mono flouro and copoly/hybrid lines
  22. I likely fish all the same lakes you do . I spend the majority of my bass fishing time flipping and pitching. If you are looking for rods that fish well above there price point look at ARK rods. If I was just sticking with 3 casting rods I would have a med mod/fast a med/heavy fast and a heavy fast in what ever lengths fit you most comfortably. I have many more rods than that but I could easily get by with those 3 casting rods and then 2 spinning rods
  23. Good trip but those aren't smallmouth
