  1. Do you fish for your 5 before looking for kickers or concentrate on 5 big ones right off the bat? I get stuck in a 5 big bites mind set and feel it costs me some tournament wins instead of starting the day fishing for a limit
  2. Put 75 or 80 yards on each reel then you have leader material for your braid to leader set ups. This is what I do and it saves me a ton of money every season
  3. Your bass are probably big up around there. They're full of lead
  4. Me and you think alike. Besides the ram. My next boat will be a white vexus. I got rid of my white /grey superduty a while back. Thinking that wasn't the best move now
  5. Thanks guys. I have a feeling the fish around here haven't seen these in who knows how long. They will all need new hooks but the price I got them all for was super cheap so as long as they produce even a little bit they will be worth it
  6. How dry is the storage in the renegades. Next year I'm hoping to be in a position for a new boat and it will honestly probably be my last one. Want to make sure what I decide on is exactly what I expect quality wise. I know in my dads RT188 it's storage is bone dry and another guy I know with a vexus says the same. I do really like the layout of the lunds
  7. Got it in a pond. But if you fish any of the portage lakes around Akron every year fish up to 8# come out of them and theirs always rumors around town of bigger getting caught. If I was looking for a giant in South east Ohio it would be piedmont. We have caught some pretty serious largemouth and smallmouth while saugeye fishing it
  8. Catch a bluegill transfer it it a rod with an appropriate sized hook for fishing live bait. I like a 1/0 ewg just below dorsal fin. Toss bluegill out gently and let him struggle. It will be like calling in a turkey.use to fish a pond that was the only way you could catch em. They would literally Chase the bluegills onto the bank, craziest thing I ever seen a bass do
  9. Who here has any input on the old Mann's loudmouth cranks. I recently bought a pile of them at a tackle show. Deep divers and shallows. When I seen them I started having images of the bass in our muddy Ohio waters eating these things like crazy and had to buy them all
  10. I live in n.e Ohio and anytime you break 5 that's where I start considering the term trophy bass for our area. Every year I boat a few 5s many 3 and 4 pound fish and my p.b is 8.4 yes from Ohio. If you fish enough jigs you will come across a few trophy sized fish every year.
  11. To much line on spool. Also may not have been put on spool tight enough. Troll the line behind your boat for a few.minutes between 3 and 5 mph with no lure on it. This will remove all line twists. Reel the line back in with boat still under power this will ensure a tight wrapping. And also if your using line with alot of memory spray it down with reel magic or some other line conditioner the night before you go fish
  12. Here's what I think. Red is generally perceived as a sexy and fast color. Just like the guy that buys a red Corvette. They want a car that looks sexy and looks fast. Sex sells and speed kills. This is why I think red is so stinking popular. Every one around my area has a bright red boat or bright red trucks. I'm a big fan of solid white on a boat and trucks
  13. My neighbors drive by and look at me like I'm a little "different" when I'm flipping to coffee cups and rocks placed around the driveway standing on the boat
  14. I prefer a more moderate action for flipping so I say yes. But some companies mod fast are to parabolic for this. It all depends on the individual rod. That could end up being q very very good chatterbait and spinnerbait rod if it's a little softer
  15. Theirs a club local to my area it's like $40 a year and that's it. They don't fish for money just jackets at end of year for biggest bass weighed in and points leader. It's mostly a bunch of older guys that fish it.
  16. Burr oak is on my list of lakes to fish this year. Try fishing a black jig right now with a beaver style bait. Work it very very slow. When I can't get hit on moving baits right now I either fish a black jig or a tube jig and can usually get bit
  17. I'm in n.e Ohio have been on the water bass fishing since late january. Most the bass I have been catching have been extremely shallow. 5 foot and under. Jerkbaits and swimbaits . What lakes are you fishing I have fished water as cold as 34 all the way up to 48 degrees so far this year
  18. As long as you wet what ever knot you are using as you are tightening it down if it is tied correctly it won't fail.
  19. Using mono or floro is not going to make a difference.
  20. Jerkbait hair jig swimbaits vibes spoons. If you find weeds you likely found the bass. We often fish with 50% or more of our lakes frozen and will catch them sometimes right along ice lines. Ive boated atleast 50 bass since late January in water temps as low as 34 and up to 46 today
  21. Water was 46 today here in n.e ohio around Akron. I use nothing but Alberto knot when connecting leader to braid. I have no issues with cold water having negative effects on knot strength. I use braid to flouro 12 months out of year
  22. I have fished out of a ton of different aluminum boats. Fit finish ride stability storage all goes to vexus for me as being the best. That will 99% be my next boat. More attention to detail than alot of the more expensive glass boats on the water imo.
  23. Mag fluke Texas rigged weightless
  24. Had over 20# flipping big jigs this day all smallies
  25. I recently bought an ARK lancer pro 7'6 heavy fast haven't fished it yet but in the hand it feels like a med heavy rod. It's light as a feather and messing with it in the yard I could feel every little detail about what I was hitting. I paired it up with a curado k and 65# power pro. For $99 I don't know that I could ask for anything else. I went in the store planning on spending $200 + and left with the $99 rod if that tells you anything
