You clearly had the right combination for that specific spot but to really learn why pieces of the puzzle need to be eliminated untill you quit getting bit. My guess would be profile and rate of fall were the deciding factors along with the quick movement of reeling instead of just letting the bait hit bottom

Fast action is going to be alot more versatile. X fast is going to load so fast you can over power alot of fish and rip the hooks out of them.

Both my units are also helix 7 the bow is di the console is si only my transducer on the trolling motor will bug out at extremely shallow depths like almost touching the bottom. If yours is doing it at 4 foot something's wrong . My console graph with the ducer mounted on the transom never does this Also if you want to sell that 5 di I could use it for my yak

My Helix will start going crazy at anything around 1 foot or less sometimes. Usually less than a foot though. All graphs are going to loose accurate bottom readings at extremely shallow depths. What graph do you have

I agree with you 100% and if you ever watch any of the episodes where martens is killing it he is the cockiest of them all. Even more so than Ike I think. They are my two least favorite pro fisherman. With Ike taking the lead over martens for my dislike by a long shot. Cannot stand that guy
