  1. Erie PA or just lake Erie in general?
  2. Pinching the tail and closing the mouth is how your suppose to measure fish
  3. Just look for a club where you can fish as a non boater. It's not as complicated as some guys make it sound
  4. My 11 Tacoma access cab 4.0 4x4 is rated at 6500# with the factory tow package. Our trucks are pretty much exactly the same even with the year difference not much of anything was changed. What you need to do is look up your exact configuration. Also look to make sure you have a transmission cooler. If you have the cooler your truck has the tow package. I would recommend a brake upgrade though as tacomas factory brakes suck
  5. A rig, never have never will And any tackle that has Ike's name on it
  6. Why were they throwing plastic baits away
  7. When the water gets high so do the fish. Jigs t rigs cranks and topwaters in all the new flooded stuff will catch em
  8. I have a 7'3 lunker Stik. M/h mod I use it for chatterbaits and large crankbaits my only complaint is that the rod is just a touch on the heavy side. But the rod loads perfectly for long casts and hook sets at the end of a long cast
  9. Chisel the wood out around the rivets then use a sawzall with a construction blade.
  10. Put a 24v trolling motor on it. I fish a pt165 tracker with a 75# 24v trolling motor and can fish 8+ hours on big electric only lakes some over 1000 acres. If you have a motor to heavy to remove just remove the fuel tank or line if it's a portable tank. And don't worry about someone saying you started the motor. If you didn't do it then you have nothing to worry about
  11. That boat is a blank slate and you could build a bad bad badddd rig out of that thing . Options are limitless
  12. Throw topwater all day not just morning. Biggest mistake I see people make is not keeping a topwater bait at the ready during all hours of the summer months
  13. Out of every one I fish with theirs only a few that will reliably go and not complain my dad one of our mutual friends my girlfriend my son and my buddy I fish weeknight tournaments with other than that people always cancel or only want to go for two hours. Hell even my best friend we only fish a few times a year
  14. A little trick with mono and flouro. After spooling onto a spinning reel put the spool into a coffee mug and run it under hot water for a few minutes it will take the memory out of the line.
  15. If you throw mainly large cranks go with a m/h moderate. For mainly smaller cranks a med mod. I prefer rods in the 7' range. For square bills you could get away with a med fast rod which is actually what I prefer to throw them on. I fish a Powell crankbait rod. Nice rod but hate the reel seat and trigger position. I also fish a Fenwick m/h mod 7'3 cranking rod for big deep cranks. For price point I would look at 13 rods. I know a bunch of guys that use them and love them
  16. I would buy that boat if the price is right and it's got a decent trailer under it. Build the decks and storage the way you want and throw a tohatsu on it. It's probably rated for 40-50 hp which will push that boat well. Add a 24v tm and your set.
  17. How much do you want to spend. If you really want to go all out go look at vexus
  18. Carolina rig with a bell sinker.... original. Did I see a googan squad ad flash on my screen during that video ? Made me turn it off
  19. I fish east harbor a couple times a year. Don't expect more than the random smallie right now, even in the channel going to the main lake. But cranks jigs t rigs and topwater will produce for all the largemouth and a maybe a few smallies. Be prepared for flood waters right now, and even with being in the harbor I have been up there when the wind still beats you up. If it's as high as it was a few weeks ago when I went up there, just fish up in the trees you will catch them. Also they should be done dredging now which will give you some very defined weed lines to fish on the edges of the main channel going through the entire harbor this will be your best bet for better than average sized fish. Black finesse jig with beaver or craw trailer in black or green pumpkin and a crawfish colored crankbait should be all you need to wear your arms out
  20. @Big Rick is correct. Skipping with a casting rod and spinning rod completely opposite ends of the spectrum. I typically pitch and flip with a 7'3 M/H F rod and if you find one that loads correctly skipping is no big thing to do. Just go practice. Spool with Co poly it's cheap to replace if needed while learning
  21. Be sure to set your trailer tires at the max inflation on them. That is where they are made to be ran. Completely different than automotive tires
  22. I'd be rich doing this! Not a bad idea really but probably illegal in some way shape or form since "the man" wouldn't be getting his fingers on some of that cash
  23. Magnum trick worm . Odds are they don't see that size bait. It catches fish of all sizes. Texas rig it or use a magnum Shakey head
  24. You'll be fine. Be sure to take a spare. I've got an 01 pro team 165 I service the bearings yearly and that boat has knock on wood been on multiple 2000+ mile round trips to northern ontario
  25. Very nice. And it doesn't matter what boat storage you have they need to be aired out.alot of guys neglect this. My boat always sits with the lids open for atleast a day or two after fishing or in humid weather
