  1. I’m still scratching my head as to why the Bills decided to go for the 2 point conversion šŸ¤”
  2. I will say the Tica reel that @bulldog1935 has graciously shared with me is one BAD little reel. Thanks for sharing this. I’m seriously trying to talk myself into a new Tatula 100 even though I don’t need one.
  3. Although I’m not trying to derail the intention of this post I’ll add @Brycecover it pays to do your homework when it comes to trading in vs selling or not and buying through the Japanese market and I can say that when I first pursued buying from Japan there is a ton of information on here to search through along with asking through a Personal Message to provide information. As far as the BPS trade in I have bought both a Carbonlite 2.0 spinning reel which is a rebadged Daiwa Exceler last model not current and a Johnny Morris Signature Series which is a Daiwa Fuego from what I was told. Both were significantly cheaper than the Daiwa models and had a more normal to me spool capacity. Again I can’t confirm this information but I’ll gladly share any information if you want.
  4. @Swamp Girl Although I have no photos to share currently, the photos in the link you shared although a much larger plot of land than what we vacationed on in my youth are pretty similar in that my grandfather’s friend owned I can’t remember how many acres and it may have been that many with 3 small cottages on the lake. I’m going to have to ask my dad whose memory isn’t the best these days to see if I can gather some more information. I’ll never forget ā€œexploringā€ the woods on the opposite side of where we stayed and coming across a unlocked deer camp/cabin that actually had a book to sign, I’m not positive as I was no older than 12 years old and probably even closer to 10 at the time but I do believe my older brother and our older neighbor who I was with did in fact sign the book. It was definitely a memorable experience and one I would absolutely love to experience again.
  5. @Brycecover So the deal is trade in a rod or reel in working order they give you a coupon and you get a certain amount off based on the purchase price of a new rod or reel. Also there is no limit and I watched a gentleman trade in I believe it was a dozen reels one year. Here’s the flyer from the 2025 sale, hopefully this helps.
  6. I haven’t ordered from them in awhile but when I did they shipped to Illinois through Fed Ex and that was in January of this year.
  7. @FLYING HIGH I much like yourself have always used the trade in event and I am still planning on it with the caveat being careful selecting what it is I’m buying. BPS branded reels are nothing more than rebadged versions of others reels such as Doyo and in some instances Daiwa’s at least from what I’ve been told. I will also add I’ve purchased a few reels from Japan as well after being informed thanks to our fine members here.
  8. @Tackleholic I appreciate what you’re saying and yes that’s the plan which as I said for now I can’t take advantage of with the not only my son but also my daughter who’s 21 and also wants to go post graduate schooling.
  9. @Swamp Girl Thank you for the information which I will definitely look into and I was actually going to reference you and your property. Although the older I get the more I dislike the cold Chicago winters even though we are currently in a seriously crazy warm period the land you own is exactly what I would prefer to have even if it was a seasonal split, and although my wife would love the peaceful serenity the bugs and lack of amenities that come with it will not appeal to her. Although I often day dream of the simple and absolute wonderful (1) week vacations from my youth spent in rural Minnesota I too have to remember I was a different person back then having zero health issues and the most simplistic needs back then. This is not to say I’m ruling anything out at this point of my life but at 56 with a college freshman who plans on attending post graduate schooling I’m still a few years away from seriously looking into any future properties right now.
  10. @Darren. Chargers Defense seems pretty intent on keeping it close and once again a referee seems to want to control the game šŸ™ In reference to my above comment and zero disrespect meant to anyone who referees/unpires any sport at any level I recently read an article that made a case for having full time employees as referees in the future and laid out a compelling argument at least in my opinion as to why as well both the players union and possibly the NFL wouldn’t want that. If I can come across the article and I’m sure there are many I’ll try to link it in this post.
  11. I’m absolutely green with envy but at the same time so happy you and so many others are willing to share your photos such as these. My wife loves the idea of a waterfront property when we retire but my fear is it will be way out of our price range.
  12. I don’t know who’s watching this Chargers Texans game but what a šŸ’© call on the Chargers for roughing the passeršŸ¤” And I have zero invested in this game.
  13. So yesterday afternoon my family and I had to put down the last of our 3 rescue dogs. Steve came to us from German Shepherd Rescue (GSR) based in Chicago on January 10th 2019, I’ll never forget receiving the call asking if we would foster him and I immediately said yes while my wife had a bit of hesitation given (A) he was a male and (B) he was reported at 120 pounds and had some of the biggest canines we have ever seen on a dog. When we picked him up he was around 105 pounds and so sick with kennel cough he could barely stand and curled up as tight as he could on my minivan seat which he barely fit on trying to just hide, after almost a month of medication and a whole lot of love and reassurance he wound up bonding so tightly to my wife he very rarely let her out of his sight. In fact she had the flu for 4 days and he never left our bedroom except to eat and to go relieve himself. He woke up and ate breakfast and within 3 hours he lost both his breakfast and his ability to properly use his back legs which prompted our decision to have him put down 😢 As was said about finding in home euthanasia it unfortunately wasn’t an option especially on Christmas night. RIP my sweet boy.
  14. Condolences to Tom’s family. I truly enjoyed reading his responses on here.
  15. First off Beautiful fishšŸ‘ŠšŸ» Secondly if you don’t mind sharing what’s the setup as far as rod, reel and line if you don’t mind sharing?
  16. My final 4 days of my calendar as they ended the gifts on the24th. Overall I was very pleased with the calendar and I’m hopeful my wife gets me another one next year😃 A bonus photo bomb courtesy of my catšŸ˜†
  17. Merry Christmas to everyone šŸŽ…šŸ»šŸŽ„ā›Ŗļø
  18. That is a really good looking fishing boxšŸ¤” Anyway no matter what it should be called do share the details if any as in who offers it, brand and what all is in it 😃
  19. šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ˜† I’m actually hoping for a really good game this Sunday Night but obviously the other way with the Blue & Orange coming out on topšŸ˜‰
  20. Oh my gosh what a thread to be out of reactions on😬 @Mike L am I the only one who’s rooting for a Colts win tonight šŸ¤”
  21. @Tackleholic I’m sorry but I’m going to have to quote @Glenn here. And yes I’m one of those people who like trying a bit of everything šŸ˜‰
  22. Good callšŸ‘šŸ» Although I’m sure I can find it somewhere it’s not a readily available beer by me although neither are the 2 I originally referenced anymore.
  23. I was wondering how much ā€œline capacityā€ you are getting on that spool? It shows 50 meters of PE 0.8, would you say that’s about right? I’ve been eyeballing that spool since @bulldog1935 pointed it out to me.
  24. I’m currently out of reactions so thank you for the comment. I’m looking forward to getting these lures out on the water and hopefully posting some pictures of fish they catch. As noted above I’m out of reactions but I love the comment šŸ˜‚ In all seriousness I’ve been wanting to try fishing spoons for some time now as they are definitely something no one is currently using on my favorite ponds as far as I can tell. The fact that I received so many spoons so far will definitely make it easier to swallow if and when I do lose 1 or more. Judging by holding it in my hand I’m going to say no but……it turns out it does 🤯
