  1. @Bazoo From what you’re describing I think you’ll be pleased with the medium light rod then as I was throwing a 1/8 ounce in-line spinner on mine with my Dream Tackle reel which is essentially a Okuma Hakai, and yes it’s the previous version 7’-0” BPS Crankin Stick. Sorry about the photos not being the greatest.
  2. @Bazoo I have 3 of the previous version BPS Crankin Sticks including the 7’-0” Medium Light and if you haven’t handled one yet I would suggest doing so as it’s extremely moderate compared to my 7’-0” medium. I’m not suggesting it’s not what you’re after but river fishing would definitely be interesting with it in my opinion. And I don’t think it’s the right rod for jerk baits either but again this is just my opinion.
  3. @Mike L And this is the point I’m trying to make, I feel like gim stated it pretty well being a ref he knew it was happening but yet couldn’t or didn’t allow the retaliation without flagging the person being instigated which is why I couldn’t agree more with your comment on Butkus 😉 @gim please don’t take my above comment personally as I have zero ideas how you handled the situation at hand other than your description.
  4. @gim I understand and appreciate your response, my thought process is the instigator’s never get punished hence why they continue to do it without fear of punishment by either the league or another player which is my point, I will be shocked if anything happens to Dak Prescott. I will add to your point I realize the refs know what’s going on and let it slide but again they never let it slide when the agitators get the taste knocked out of their mouth so to speak.
  5. @Glenn I sure hope you’re right but I’m really starting to lose faith in how the NFL decides who gets punished regarding fines and especially penalties. Take tonight’s game for instance with the ultimate instigator/💩starter Travis Kelce, a player who is going to be in the Hall Of Fame and doesn’t need to act like an 🤔….but gets away with it year after year which I personally can’t stand. And as far as I’m concerned Travis Kelce has been getting away with that behavior way longer than any other player in my humble opinion. I realize the NFL had to evolve before someone got killed due to many factors but I personally would love to see any of today’s 💩stirrers try that with an old school player such as Dick Butkus or Jack Lambert or one of my personal favorites Mark Gastineau let alone Lawrence Taylor or God Forbid Lyle Alzado. I welcome any and all opinions on my rant.
  6. @FrnkNsteen I wish I could take credit for the suggestion but I was just agreeing with @Bigbox99 on the Tatula 80 suggestion.
  7. I agree with the above. I use a Tatula 80 and have for a few years now and highly recommend it. Also I believe the Tatula 70 SV shares the same frame as the 80 which shares the frame of tha Alphas 800 SV.
  8. As a Chicago Bears Fan I approve this message 👍🏻🌭
  9. This for sure is a better path in my opinion.
  10. I will say I love ALL brands yet I am partial to Daiwa for their braking system’s. With that said I have a Kast King Royal Legend II in a 5 speed and I’m not thrilled with it as the spool feels very “thin/weak” which is something you definitely don’t want in a reel meant to throw crank baits or at least I don’t. I will admit I’m willing to try their reels above the $80.00 price point but at that point I’d be willing to spend a few dollars more for a “name brand” including BPS house brands such as the Pro Qualifier and the Carbon Lite 2 which I had and enjoyed but I’m weird with colors and couldn’t take the white/gold combination. Taking into consideration the BPS warranty I would travel that path or maybe even Academy reels first but hey that’s me and my .02 cents. I will add I have 4 Piscifun spinning reels also and love them along with a casting reel that I was able to purchase cheaply and love them. I will add the reel seat is definitely not metal along with the whole reel being “carbon/plastic” and you can feel the flex in hand without even being mounted on a rod which was/is another turn off for me personally in a crank bait reel even though I was only hoping to use this as a “small” retention pond reel where the bass aren’t big. I don’t know it may not bother you. I know there are others on here who really like them but I’m trying to give you my honest opinion.
  11. I generally agree with Tom on the moderate action with monofilament but if you’re looking for a relatively cheaper option with braid I’ll direct you to the following thread.
  12. I’ve had zero issues with a 2 piece St. Croix spinning rod coming apart and I’ve had and used it for a long time. As far as storage if you’re worried you can hop on Amazon and grab a 2 piece rod holder for under $30.00. They have nicer ones as well but here’s an example.
  13. I had a completely opposite experience as most with Daiwa USA in that I ordered a handle collar for an older reel and had it within a week. The only thing I could complain about was the part cost $2.00 but the shipping cost $4.00 and change which I can’t fault Daiwa for.
  14. @bulldog1935 I should have been more specific in that, as I meant the guessing on the year of the photo 😬
  15. My wish came true 😂😆🤣
  16. I have that same rod and my thought process for buying it was/is throwing heavier 1/2-3/4 oz chatter baits and spinner baits. I say was as I don’t really throw anything that heavy generally speaking but I have and it was more than capable. I also threw the 110 sized whopper plopper on it and it handled that perfectly as well. Hope this helps a little bit.
  17. My wife and I started off with a 12’x12’ patio that lasted about 15-16 years and was still holding strong to replace it with this.
  18. So I’ll start by saying I don’t know if this is in the right forum so mods feel free to move if necessary. So I stopped at my local Goodwill today even though my wife and I are staunch supporters of Amvets who don’t want certain items hence forth me stopping at Goodwill. The young man who was at least 19 considering high school was in session when I arrived informed me when I asked how his day was treating him that he was excited as earlier exactly when I don’t know someone dropped off some fishing rods and when I inquired he said the rods were Lews, StCroix and possibly some other higher end gear and that when his shift was done he was going to hopefully grab a few of them. I told him I already have more than I need to which he replied sounds like my dad and for a brief second I thought about parking and seeing what was donated but then it hit me that the excitement he was showing to hopefully grab a few of them if not all was more than enough to change my mind. I’m really hoping he was able to get some nice donated gear that I’ve never stumbled upon but have read about on this site.
  19. @sgjackson I’m not sure if you pulled the trigger yet on a rod but for $99.00 the 13 fishing Oath rods come in quite a few lengths. I handled the 7’-3” med hvy extra fast and it’s way to fast for me but I’m looking to grab a 7’-3” med hvy mod fast and they have a 7’-4” hvy fast that might fit your needs. I know @MiceNReets has picked up the previous version of this rod and maybe the current version and gave it a favorable review. After I typed this out I think he may have picked up the Myth series which is a step up from the Oath🤔 As a bonus if you buy it directly from Rapala who owns 13 fishing now you get 15% off your first order making it well under budget.
  20. @Alex from GA You sir are royalty in my humble opinion.
