So as my title implies I’m curious how much to replace a reel seat/handle? I really enjoy a cheaper rod series from Eagle Claw and I noticed my local Wal Mart is carrying them with a new reel seat that is actually not only uncomfortable but dare I say the cheapest thing I’ve ever seen on a rod 😟 I really like this blank especially at $55.00ish and I’m kicking myself for not picking up one of the previous versions which is why I’m asking if it would be worth my while. Thanks in advance to anyone who chooses to respond.

I can’t help but notice it’s a shallow spool, which leads me to ask what are you spooling it with? I only ask as I bought a Miravel 2000 shallow spool and my plan was 8 pound Daiwa J-Braid for Ned rigs until I realized the spool was a bit too shallow for my needs as a bank angler so it found a new home on my ultralight rod with 6 pound Suffix 832.

If I may ask what reel do you have on the Omen Gold as I’m a sucker for a good color match 😉 That’s kind of what I’ve read about the G-man reel which is why I asked your opinion. I’m seriously beating the bait monkey back from ordering a 13 fishing Oath cranking rod by telling him we will need to wait for a sale as the combo I will take the reel from will probably need a new reel 😬

Although I’m the furthest thing from comparable to many on here square bills are by far my favorite lure for the ponds I fish and all of last year I had a KVD 1.0 square bill tied on to a 8 speed reel which I was afraid would ruin the action of the lure but it didn’t. I never once thought about slowing down my retrieve as that’s just not me but I have to add I’m going with a 7 speed this year but only because I want to use the 8 speed for buzz baits. Hope this helps a bit.

Well par for the course I’m leaving work now fishing rod, reel and tackle bag in the vehicle and we’re getting a nice steady rain.

So yesterday was the perfect day for me with moderately warm temperatures and zero wind, a perfect day to try my new spinning reel which was in my car rigged up with a Ned head. Only problem was when I got to my favorite pond I realized I left my tackle bag at my house😟 So I’m going to try again today.

@Bird That’s a sharp looking pairing, I’m looking forward to hearing how you like it when you get some time with it. Although I only have a low end spinning reel and low end rod from 13 fishing not paired together I really enjoy both. Oh and thanks for fixing my phone 😉

Here in the southwest burbs of Chicago it’s definitely as described above. Yesterday was a pleasant day but it didn’t get as warm as predicted over the weekend and the dang winds are brutal when it does warm up.

@Bass Rutten I appreciate the link and whoever was selling them is out of them as they’re now $158.00 which still isn’t bad for a combo but I don’t need another reel but I’m always looking for a bargain. I’ve signed up for the Zata Tactical Tackle Warehouse exclusive if the price drops even though I don’t need that either.

I just jumped on Amazon and I can’t find this deal ☹️I will say I really want the Tackle Warehouse exclusive Zata Tactical though.

I just recently bought a BPS Johnny Morris Platinum spinning reel in the 2000 size and it has the thin nail wire and while I haven’t fished it yet I will say the salesman at BPS said it’s a different colored Fuego which made me happy enough and if it lasts 1/2 as long as my Daiwa Hard bodyz Laguna 1500 which is still going strong I’ll be thrilled.

Although I have zero experience with that reel it seems a bit big for 4 pound braid even with monofilament backing. But I will add the Regal gets a lot of love on this site and elsewhere with @FrnkNsteen referring to it pretty recently if I remember correctly.

Although I’m not fishing the Great Lakes and when I did it was for perch off of Navy Pier but I get a kick out of watching the guys fish the warm water discharges up by the power plant in Oak Creek Wisconsin, I’ve taken more than a few lunch breaks living vicariously through the boaters catching salmon.

Although it didn’t happen to me when my nephew was way younger probably no older than 10 years of age he went fishing with his dad maybe a mile or so from my house and you can imagine mine and my wife’s reaction when my brother starts a phone call with get me a pair of wire/side cutters and I’ll be there in 2 minutes which I’m pretty sure wasn’t more than 3 before he showed up in my kitchen with my very shaken nephew who had a treble hook piercing him and my brother saying I may need some help pushing the barb through. To this day I don’t know if my brothers wife ever found out🤔

I greatly appreciate everyone who has taken the time to respond and if it were possible I would have multiple “Mark as solution” comments. We used Terro along with my re caulking the counter top to the exterior wall and both have helped tremendously and I’m definitely going to try some of the other suggestions as well.

You said you live on a farm🤔I remember our neighbor keeping a ton of small fish that became fertilizer for his tomato plants and although I never ate them I heard they were quite delicious.

@FishTax I think you’re worried for no reason as your photos look great. Congratulations on getting on the board 👍🏻

I’ve said it before and ill say it again I love my 2 Okuma TCS-A series rods which are a bit more moderate than my Okuma EVX-B rod which I also love even being a bit faster in action.
