  1. There is a Chinese connection and you can find them on Ebay.
  2. Typically the tips are attached with a glue so a little heat will loosen it and you can take it right off with a pair of pliers. When you get it off replace it with glue that will come loose with heat. If you have an archery shop in your area you can get some hide glue. It works great for this application.
  3. You can save even more time if you learn to tie the Pitzen knot. I can tie it with gloves on in about 12 seconds on average.
  4. The more stuff you have between your bait and the main line the more likely you are to have something that will fail and maybe cost you the fish of a lifetime.
  5. My best advice to you is down load the helix manual. If you have Adobe Acrobat Reader you can use it to navigate the manual. If not then down load the free version then down load the manual. I have a new Solix with I pilot link. So far I have downloaded 3 manuals and take my computer to the garage so I can look something up and then get hands on experience.
  6. I've tried a lot of places and fishing skirts . com is the place I buy mine. If you buy 100 ct you normally get a decent price break.
  7. When I go for anything that heavy or with those large of a hook I move up to the 90# Surflon or Sevelon. Like Blue said it will need to be longer and will be more flexible.
  8. You want a project then you will have it. I'd say you could part it out and make money. The trailer alone with some used tires would bring a couple of hundred. Find the right wrench and you can get some cash for the motor.
  9. I tried a few heads that I bought but did not like the hooks on any of them so I bought some Gammy 1/0 hooks and some Surflon 45# coated wire. It is plenty stiff for weed guard.
  10. My wife had a bimini top on her boat. It was near worthless. In order to keep anyone in the shade I couldn't fish where I wanted to. It really was only good around noon in the summer. She takes an umbrella when she goes with me and wants shade.
  11. It may just need to be cleaned. Often the prongs that are in the boats recessed part get corroded and need to be cleaned. If try cleaning the connections on the boat and the light. I've had to do that more times than I can count.
  12. I use a lot of bubble gum in pre spawn.
  13. Not every one on YouTube has a full sack of marbles. I turn mine on in the parking lot and turn it off in the parking lot.
  14. The ones I have are made by Flambeau and not made of PVC.
  15. I used to fish the Devil's Horse until I got a Boy Howdy. I missed a lot of strikes on the DH as it sets flat on the water. The BH is rear heavy and I caught a lot more on them because the hook up rate was higher.
  16. I go up to my H rods for my 1/2 oz plus spinnerbaits. I'll use a MH for lighter weight ones. I use the same rods for them as I do my A rigs with the reels changed.
  17. Elaztech and PVC are not friends. I learned the hard way.
  18. Oldham makes something similar.
  19. I only know about the HMG. I have 7 of them. Some of them date back to the mid 90s and keep on going.
  20. Get yourself a "fish tape". Start it at one end along the inside of the gunnel and run it to the other end. Then tape the cable to it and pull it back.
  21. I don't use braid with leaders any more. I never found a knot that I liked. I can tell you that I was getting my butt kicked with me in the front of my boat when I was using 10# mono and the guy in the back was using 12# fluoro. It took 2 trips before I was smart enough to switch. I say use fluoro if you are going to go braid with a leader.
  22. Ned, shaky and Arig are my go to baits in the winter. A rig and shaky have been most productive lately.
  23. I watch my line where it goes into the water. When I lift or twitch a bait off the bottom, I let it fall back to the bottom before I take up the slack.
  24. I use scissors from the sewing department at Wal-Mart.
