Bait casting reel for lighter line.
I use 6 lb fluoro on my bait caster ned rod and 3/32 oz jig heads with a Curado 70 XG. It works great but has a bit of trouble with 1/16 oz heads.
- Do you use your spinnerbait rod for other types of lures?

Mounting A Transducer On a Minn Kota Terrova - Precision Sonar Cable Guard
I am not running that particular motor. I have the ulterra because I have broken ribs that haven't healed properly and needed the automatic stow feature. I run Lowrance units and put the total scan transducer on it. I bought the mount and the cable guard from them. It works great for me. I'd buy it again in a heart beat.

Float 'n Fly - folks tried it?
I did it for a few years. I caught everything but bass on it so I quit trying.

Keeping soft baits in bag
Warped the lid so much it would not close. Also damaged the dividers. There is some kind of chemical reaction. A Zman tech is the one who told me about Flambeau.

Keeping soft baits in bag
So did I. Flambeau makes boxes that won't react to Elaztech they are not made from PVC like so many others which have a reaction to it. I now carry my open TRDs and Zeros in them.

The RTD Is Now Available!
My RTD came yesterday. It works like a charm. It is especially good for me being far sighted with old eyes.

Best Knot for Fluorocarbon?
You San Diego Jam guys should take a look at the Pitzen. It is the Jam with one step left out. The strength is not effected and it is quicker and easier to tie.

Best Knot for Fluorocarbon?
I use the pitzen knot for all lines.

Best Group 24 AGM battery?
Reserve capacity is what you need to be looking at.

Reel Recommendations
I bought a used Shimano 70 on this site. I liked it so well that I have bought 2 more. I use them for most everything except jigs, spinner baits, and chatter baits. BTW there is a Curado 200 on sale in the Flea Market for $110.

JIG head casting
What you will find when you get into making jig heads is that some molds are harder to use than others even with soft lead. For example when I bought the Poison Tail molds the 1/2 oz cavity was very hard to get a complete pour even with very soft lead. I tried buffing out the cavity with my Dremel tool but that did not work. I got in touch with Cad Man who advised me to get some Frankfort Arsenal Drop Out spray. That fixed the problem. Since then I use it to prep my molds when I get a new one and if one gets to making incomplete pours, I clean it with acetone and put on a new coat of drop out spray. Like Clayton said, "I never pass up free lead." I keep my lead separated into piles of approximate hardness even though with the drop out spray and my RCBS melting furnace set on 800° I am seeing very few problems these days. The harder lead like good lead shot will have other stuff like antimony in it and will require more heat for it to flow well into the molds. If you don't know about fluxing the lead then you should spend a little time researching it. Fluxing is important when mixing different types of lead. I try to flux when I add lead to the pot.

JIG head casting
If you can feel the difference in lead hardness in a bait then you have better feeling than I have. I have used soft lead, medium hard and very hard but I can only see the difference in the casting. Softer lead is easier to work with and melts at lower temps.

Clear Cast Marine ???
What do you know about this company? I have an HDS Gen 3 that is on the fritz. I called Lowrance and was told that for a paltry sum of $1125 I could get it replaced under the 5 year service agreement. I looked up Clear Cast their website showed $55 for a bench charge and approximately $400 for repairs. Are they worth giving a try or not?

Texas rig
If that were as deep as I ever fish I'd never use a sinker.

Stroke victims
I had one 2 years ago. I did not know where my right foot was, my right eye did not move with my left one and my speech was slurred. I did not get to a hospital for 6 hours after it happened as I was at my farm alone when it happened. I was taken to a hospital where they diagnosed it and on the second day told me I could go home with a walker. I refused to leave so they transferred me to a rehab hospital. I was there for 9 days getting physical, speech, and occupational therapy. I only had rehab 3 hours a day so I had lots of time to work on my own. I asked the therapist for specific exercises for my eye control and leg control. I worked on them for most of the day when not in rehab. They would not let me get out of a wheel chair when I was alone. The thing that worked for my right leg was to focus on a spot where 4 floor tiles came together and lift my foot and try to "stomp" that spot. At first I'd miss it by as much as 12-15 inches. After many hours and several days I could hit every time. When I told the therapist, she gave me a tennis ball and told me to roll it around under my foot, lift my foot and then put it back on the ball before it rolled away. That took a lot of work but I got to where I could do it. Awareness of the location of the foot came back. I am still working on balance with a bosu ball but can stand on the deck of my boat and run the trolling motor as long as I can lean against a butt seat. My speech and eye movement are normal now. Good luck to you on your road to discovering what your new normal is. I might add they said they did not know the cause so I was told it could have been caused by: alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, or wheat. So I had to give up all of those. I still drink some coffee but only 1/2 caff. In the process of giving up wheat in now don't have carpal tunnel syndrome in my left wrist which was scheduled for surgery.

Ned rig rod/reel
For my spinning setups I like medium light to light. I use my Shimano series 2000 reels with 6# fluorocarbon line. I have 3 setups with a 4th on the way as I use Ned a lot and don't like retying to be changing colors.

Limited Lifetime
I just got confirmation of a free rod replacement from Fenwick. I should ship out some time today. The rod that broke isn't made any longer so they let me choose the replacement. It doesn't get any better than that.
