That’s a long way. The reason I asked is the BPS Outlet gets hundreds of refurbished reels which sell on the cheap. I talked to a guy there one day who was buying like 2 dozen reels. He said he has a shop about 1 1/2 hours out and he had sold over 500 of them.

I have caught a bunch on it. I have even bought a mold so I can make my own. I particularly like green pumpkin with red or chartreuse tails. I Texas rig them with light bullet weights for post spawn smallmouth.

We are catching bass 30-50 feet down over 50-70 feet of water. We are doing pretty well with swim baits. Yesterday 35 of our 43 came from there. We also have used casting spoons and jigging raps without success. Im thinking that I would like to use a bladed jig. I’ve got some 1oz heads baking and plan to tie them up this afternoon. Have any of you used a bladed jig this deep?

What head and size hook are you using?

Mine are usually fished where they have a short life expectancy so they get lost way before they get worn out.

I have a couple. My best one works when she isn’t busy doing something else.

After much practice I decided to do one setup for tomorrow with the GG. I’ll be in my boat with backups in the rod locker. I put a casting plug on it and threw it a few times. Even with the Sally Hansen’s on it I couldn’t feel it going through the eyelets. If it is as strong as people say, then I an a new convert. Thanks for the responses.

So you are going to buy a shaft and lower unit, mount it permanently to the boat as a thruster. Is that correct?

Thanks for the thorough reply. My reasoning on the polish is any interruption to the beginning of the knot destroys it. I thought nail polish would keep it firm and avoid any problem. If it won’t degrade the fluorocarbon then I think it will make me feel better.

Like stated, I don’t think you will benefit much with two motors. If I were doing it, I would put an ulterra up front and remotely control it from wherever I am sitting. I have a 112 Ulterra on a heavy glass boat (probably 3500# +). Moving across a cove it goes about 3 mph.

I don’t understand one half hitch on each side. Each side of what?

I have finally decided to give it a try. I have tied several practice knots and have some questions. I am using 15# braid and 12# fluorocarbon lines. 1. After I complete the knot and 2 half hitches should I cut the fluorocarbon leader or make more half hitches first? 2. How many half hitches total should I use? 3. How about some clear Sally Hanson nail polish on the knot? 4. Burn braid tag or not. I will be fishing in a friend’s boat and will have only two braid to fluorocarbon setups with me so I want the best knot that I can get. We’ve been fishing swim baits among timber in 40-70’ water and hang ups are likely. Thanks in advance for tips.

If you don’t mind loose wires, you could have a ram mount at the console and at the bow so you could move the head as needed.

Mine will twist until I think it will rip things off, then it stops and unwinds.

12# fluorocarbon sometimes 15#.

I’ve fished many an hour in a Pantera. They have a better ride than any tin boat that I have ever been in. I’ve owned three tins. They rode rougher than glass. They were also affected more by wind than any glass boat that I have owned. My personal preference is the ride and stability of glass.
