If that was an R wire spinner bait you can stop that from happening. You can wrap floral wire, heavy thread or braided line around the R portion to keep the wire from separating. It will exponentially increase the life span of your bait. I wire mine then use heat shrink tubing to cover it. I wear out the skirts before I wear out the bait. I have never had a wire break when fixed this way and the functionality of the bait is not compromised. I’ve been using the one in the pic for 2 years. It is on its second skirt.

The information given to you at the time of purchase was sketchy. You should charge newly purchased batteries. You can check the them with a hydrometer from your local auto parts store. They should be 12.8 volts when fully charged.

If you have a sonar/gps unit you can move around and watch your 2d or down scan to locate them then mark them with a waypoint. I don’t know what makes a difference. All I know is that I got my butt waxed from the back of my boat using mono on shaky while the guest was using fluorocarbon. I got it twice before I was smart enough to buy fluorocarbon. The second lesson was fishing swim baits using a mono to braid leader in clear water while my partner was using fluoro to braid.
