  1. Munkin also bends the guard. I find it gets tangled up in my leader.
  2. Have you considered O rings?
  3. This may be more important than the line.
  4. I use 45-90# Surflon coated stainless steel leader wire. I want the weed guard to reach past the hook point to almost the barb on the hook. My opinion is that it needs to be long enough to actually work and limber enough to not hinder the hook set. The pic is 1/8 and 1/4 oz swim bait heads with 60# Surflon. I fish them with 30# braid and 10-12# fluorocarbon leaders.
  5. Have an upholstery shop make you one that will be a custom fit.
  6. You need to find someone who has the Midwest finesse mold that takes the Victory #1 EWG hook. That’s the closest thing to weedless that I have found.
  7. I have gone back to it for feel. I am using fluorescent yellow 15# Power Pro with 10 and 12# fluorocarbon leaders.
  8. I don’t eat them but always take 2 dozen when I have my boat serviced, a dozen for the parts and service area and a dozen for the technicians.
  9. Me too. I’ve had a lot of different ones over the years and I like the way they fit on my Verado. Learning the proper trailer depth for correct loading and paying attention when you back it in alleviates incorrect boat positioning.
  10. We call them follow up. It depends what the strike was on as to my follow up. For example if it is a spinner bait I like to follow up with a buzz bait, if a top water then some kind of plastic, if a shaky then the follow is a Ned just to name a few.
  11. There is a Shimano Gloomis buy sell trade Face Book page. They sometimes have good deals on quality used reels just like the flea mkt. here.
  12. Lots of medium light rods will do the job. The one that I like best is a St. Croix Premier 6’6” medium light fast paired with a Shimano 1000 and 10/1 white Power Pro braided line.
  13. I have a MK and a NOCO. Both work just fine. There is a whole world of electronics from which to choose. I suggest that you go over to Bass Pro and talk to some of the sales guys. They can explain the functions of different brands and units. if you run into electrical issues you may want to call Scott Robinson at Marine Repair Center on National just south of Division 417-833-9191. Good luck. I hope you enjoy your boat.
  14. Mine is on the starboard rod locker next to the console a few inches above the floor. That keeps the wires on the opposite side of the trolling motor wires to lessen interference.

If you find out about the tube wire, I’d appreciate information thanks.

Shaky, swim bait and Ned have been producing 30 to 50 bass per trip for us.
  17. I record mine in an Excel spreadsheet along with when it was put on and when that reel was cleaned.
  18. I tracked and recorded it for several years. I never could find any real correlation to it and how the fishing was. Much of the time it changed while I was out. I gave up and track the wind and moon now.

Thanks Allen. I’m in the process of making weedless swim bait jigs with a Surflon guard it is coated and has to be glued in after the heads are painted and baked. An uncoated wire appeals to me.
  20. I have had ringing in my ears for a long time it sounds like a locust hatch. I’ve been to doctors and audiologists and tried several interventions none of which have helped. The last audiologist suggested hearing aids which might cancel it during the day but might have lots of wind noise in the boat and would have to be removed at night when I really notice it.

Nice looking jig Allen. What gauge is the weed guard wire and why bend the tip?
  22. I am a toys guy. I want bells and whistles. When I see lots of upgrades I want a new truck. Mine is coming 3 I am looking around.
  23. For me it would be shaky. I can fish it faster than the drop shot.
  24. All I know about them is a guy brought a boat in with one looking for a trade. My old boss saw it, got my attention and told me not to trade for it. Later he told me if I ever traded for one, I would be fired on the spot. His reasoning was that we did not stock parts or have the necessary training for repairs.
