If it is just a seal, they are cheap and not hard to replace. You will need to clean and repack the bearings.

I’m not aware of any other than Humminbird that has follow the contour. If you go that route be sure to get the proper trolling motor. I believe you may need Ipilot link with blue tooth.

I have Calhoun medium and a mold like the fat impact and easy shiner. I’ve stopped using them because the Keitech is way more effective than they are.

Why medium hard? Won’t that make them stiff?

Spray it with KVD line conditioner. I keep a bottle in the boat.

I have made my own swim baits for years but a few good butt waxings from a friend using Keitechs has swung me over. They are definitely fish catchers. My issue with them is the way they tear up with just about every fish and the time it takes to retie or rerig. What are you guys using that is a good producer and holds up better.

I have similar setups. They all have 12# fluorocarbon line on them.

I’m betting that your problem is how you cast and close the bail not how you spool the line.

It looks like you have a corroded terminal. Besides that you don’t have near enough battery. You need way more rc than 140.

One of the guys with whom I fish has a big net that is coated with some sort of rubber and has a telescopic handle. It isn’t really heavy but takes up a lot of space. I think he said it was from Cabela’s.

Maybe you are shallow enough so the boat causes the fish to move away from you.

I don’t go after hung baits unless they are expensive. Like Catt said here you’re going to get hung up.

If I were in that situation I would definitely be adding Mercury Quickcare to my boat gas. It just takes a little bit. I believe it is 1 oz per 10 gallons.

The techs at the dealerships where I go have always been skeptical about ethanol in gasoline. They are Mercury factory trained and recommend 91 ethanol free fuel along with Quickleen and Quickcare. I do this without fail every time I get gasoline. It worked for 14 years in my two stroke Optimax and has worked for 7 years in my four stroke Verado.

The reason I get up at 03:00 am is so I can be on the water at first light 05:15 am to fish top water baits. By 7 or 8 it is hit and mostly miss on a top water bite. By then many of our fish are 40 feet deep and we have to go down for them.

I would get there at first light and look for surfacing fish. If there were any I would move to them and throw a knicker knocker. If not I would idle around looking for fish feeding on shad. When I found feeding fish I would use swim baits and see how it goes. Yesterday we found a bit of surfacing going on near a bluff in 45 fow. We caught some on top but there was activity even down to 50’ in 70’ of water. We used Keitech 3.3 fat impact on 1/4 oz heads. We had 28 bass 3 crappie and a white in three hours without starting the engine. So pay attention, idle around and study the electronics is how I would approach it.

I only have experience with the DC. I got one as a gift and bought another one. What I really like is the fact that I can throw a Knickerknocker as hard as I want to trying to reach a surfacing fish and not have to worry about any line problems.

We don’t just use them in the summer. They are also good winter baits.

I’m not sure what the gauge is. Any of it will work. I do two loose wraps, adjust the skirt to my liking then tighten the wire.
