  1. I use a custom built 7.5’ rod with a Curado 70 and 12# fluorocarbon line. I’m guessing that it is probably a medium (MHX 903 blank with CRB elite guides #524 and a Fuji reel seat). It also does a decent job with crank baits.
  2. It depends on your electronics. If you have side imaging, you can drive by them and see if any fish are there. They could be anywhere in the water column. If they are up crank baits might work. If they are down around limbs you are correct about vertical presentations. When I fish that way I use jigging spoons or bass tubes. Plan on losing a few baits.
  3. I have had success with a product called Totally Awesome. I get it at Dollar General and Wal Mart. I use it for all kinds of deep cleaning in the home, camper and boat.
  4. Normally they get to where they won’t stay up. One of mine has gotten to where it won’t stay down. It works its way up all by itself during the day. If I drill a hole in the cylinder will that let the gas out so it will stay down?
  5. That is not unusual even before the pandemic. Several years ago I was in need of a seat for my Champion. Le Broc was the manufacturer. I called them to place the order and was told how many weeks out it would be before that particular seat would be back on the production line. The delay was close to two months.
  6. Don’t cheap out. There is a lot of crappy stuff out there that can make you miserable.
  7. I have 2 Curado 5.1:1 reels. I use them for pulling 7 bladed, 3 baited Arigs. Anything else wears me out.

They might be post oaks. A pic of leaves and tree bark might help identify them.
  9. I just pulled down a gallon of Calhoun’s medium that had been setting for a year. It was totally separated. A few minutes with my wire and drill got it mixed and I shot some baits that turned out good. Try it.
  10. They are like torpedoes around here. They chase shad to the top, get what they can, go down and get below some more, repeat. It is nearly impossible to tell what they are doing unless there are several in a group.
  11. I only use grease in a tapered container like Daiwa grease. I can hold it to the gear teeth and apply small amounts. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Daiwa_Space_Age_Reel_Greaser/descpage-SRG.html?from=gshop&gclid=Cj0KCQjwguGYBhDRARIsAHgRm4-pad2e8BAX33wnjm3qWVSvyFpH5fld27w-vpps7Z7MYY6eJd9qirYaAgPcEALw_wcB
  12. I have 2 of them. I really like them. Yesterday I used them for spinnerbaits. They worked great. I use 12# fluorocarbon line on them. I’d probably buy more if I didn’t already have more Curados than rods.
  13. Have you tried painting blades with powder paint? The ones I have tried weren’t easy.
  14. If I were going to paint blades I would use a self etching primer and high temp engine enamel paint. It does a great job on outboard lower units and lasts forever.
  15. I use a drill and wire from a clothes hanger to mix my plastisol.
  16. That color change is typical with over heating. I ruined a batch this week with too much heat.
  17. Technically it is a Charger 210 Elite, but it was made from a Champion 210 Elite. I went to the factory with Kelly when they were getting set up for production.
  18. Any accent I use is at the bottom as well as the trailer. Chartreuse mixed in the white is a great combination for any color of water.
  19. It is actually a Champion 210 Elite made at the Charger factory with their logos on them. The son of the Charger owner and Kelly Power got a 210 from a guy, cut it up and made molds. Johnny Morris owns the Champion name even though he had all of the Champion molds destroyed.
  20. That is very true for me. I have 2 of them and would like to have more but I already have at least 10 regular Curados.
  21. When I have to launch and no dock is available, I carry a spool with over 100' of nylon rope on it. I unwind it up the ramp several feet and back the trailer into the water. I let the boat float out away from shore then stop it in open water. I either tie it off or unwind lots of rope so if it floats out I will still have rope to pull it back. We don't have sand so I don't want my fiberglass boat setting on the shore. I pull it in as I wind up the rope, climb aboard and go fishing.
  22. I only know of two guys who mastered the spook. One was nationally known, Charlie Campbell, the other one was a rural mail carrier by the name of Dean Byrum. I don’t know how many ways Charlie could fish a spook as I never talked to him about anything but sports. But Dean decided to give a friend and I some lessons. He said he could do 17 distinct things with a spook and showed us 5. He said he would show us 5 more when we got those learned. I worked on them for years and only could do 4. I never got the 5th one to work let alone master it. Sadly Dean and Charlie have both passed taking all of that good knowledge with them.
  23. I’ve bent a few props, even knocked the blade off one but never on purpose.?
