  1. Anyone happen to know if there is a size difference in guides between nrx+ and conquest? Small detail but I fish braid to leader. Water is getting pretty cold here in Minnesota.... if I wait and shop around maybe I can offset the extra money in the conquest lol.
  2. My friend who bought my two rods I sold said the same thing. It's under consideration lol.
  3. I already own the 873, I use it for Texas rigs and lighter jigs. Just sold two rods so was looking to upgrade. Heard good things about the mbr taper and thought I'd get some opinions from this forum before deciding. Thank you.
  4. I kayak fish so space is somewhat limited. Versatility is certainly a welcome attribute. Thanks for the response.
  5. Looking to get a rod that will have a1/2 ounce pitching jig on it about 90% of the time. Usually fishing it on weed edges and isolated cover, no need for a flipping stick. Noticed it's available in nrx+ which is the line I'd buy it in. Curious if anyone fishes this rod in any line and what they use it for. Thanks
  6. Just to follow up, I've owned and fished this rod a few weeks now. It's the action I was hoping it would be. I really like this rod. Water is getting pretty cold here so I have been throwing the tactical dd a bunch and it casts well and the fish are staying pinned. Thanks for the input.
  7. I own orochi perfect pitch and flatside special and caught pretty good sized muskie on both on multiple occasions. As far as the models you mentioned tactical bassin loves the brailist, have a friend who also really loves it for half ounce jigs.
  8. I own this rod and I use 30# suffix 832 and if I'm not fishing a frog tie on a leader so the fg knot is just outside my reel to allow for several re-ties. Going to be several factors that would change what leader but personally most common for a jig or Texas rig I use seaguar red label 12 or 15# because it does the job and is reasonably priced. Bigger top water, I'd probably use good old trilene xl 14#. It's a good rod I'm sure you will enjoy.
  9. Sounds like a great rod but a bit much for fishing a dt10 to the occasional dt16. Thanks for the info though.
  10. Thanks, would be throwing dt 10 much more frequently. All the waters I fish have a good amount of vegetation so I theorize graphite might be better for me to rip it out. certainly could be thinking about this incorrectly though.
  11. Thanks. Trying to see kinda where it tops out on depth. Will it be overpowered by a rapala dt 16 for example. Appreciate the response.
  12. Guess it's not very popular lol.
  13. Not sure if you did pull the trigger on a rod yet but remember black Friday or cyber Monday sadly is approaching fast lol. Can maybe get that next level of quality at your desired price point. I use a poison Adrena mh/ regular fast and love that power and action for 3/8 to 1/2 ounce chatterbaits. Good luck!
  14. Without more info from the poster, I'd also look into 2 setups. Something around 7' to 7'3" medium heavy fast baitcasting with a 7:1 ish reel for versatility. And a7' medium fast spinning setup. Could give specific suggestions with more info.
  15. Looking for owners of this rod to give opinions on what lures they like fishing with it. Depth ranges and where you feel the "sweet spot" is would be awesome. Thank you.
  16. Thanks for the responses. I don't have bass straighten out my hooks but the muskie and pike do once in a while. I feel I need to be careful how I word things in here. I suppose in hindsight I should have simply asked what stock crank bait hooks do you like best. Good luck with the fall fishing!
  17. Nice to know. Never tried a door. This really was my first year using crankbaits beyond squarebills and for a guy without electronics I'm loving them for finding fish.
  18. Now that you mention it I have some 6th sense squarebills and they do have nice hooks. Thanks for the reminder lol never thrown their deep divers.
  19. Wondering what specific baits people like right out of the box. For example I really like rapala dt series but the hooks aren't very strong and I'm just not interested in changing hooks ..i have enough chores as is lol.
  20. I probably should broaden my horizons and consider glass and composite. St Croix legend glass does sound very good.
  21. Hmm did I word it that poorly?? Meant a rod for those depth crankbaits. Sorry if my post made no sense.
  22. Looking for suggestions for a graphite cranking rod 7'6" max length, for roughly 11-16ft depths. I have an orochi xx. flatside special and for me the 10 foot range is kinda where it tops out. So this new rod would pickup from there I guess. Price range 250-400. Looking forward to suggestions. If the depth range is too broad I'd rather lean towards the deeper end of the spectrum. Thanks.
  23. Dt14, this particular fish wasn't nearly as crazy as the one I caught on the perfect pitch stroking a jig for whatever reason.
  24. Caught 20+ lb musky on flatside special and perfect pitch while bass fishing with zero issues.
