Looking for suggestions for a graphite cranking rod 7'6" max length,  for roughly 11-16ft  depths. I have an orochi xx. flatside special and for me the 10 foot range is kinda where it tops out. So this new rod would pickup from there I guess. Price range 250-400. Looking forward to suggestions. If the  depth range is too broad I'd rather lean towards the deeper end of the spectrum.  Thanks. 

   Lures have depth ranges, but I wasn't aware that rods had depth ranges.

   I use 3/4 oz. Magnum Wally Divers when I can find deeper water, and I have several rods from 6'-08" to 7'-06" that handle them just fine. Two of the rods, however, are fast action. The third is moderate, but fiberglass.

   If that lure was put on your flatside, I see no reason it wouldn't attain the same depth that it attains for me.

   However, the majority of deep diving lures weigh more than 3/4 oz ..... some considerably more. So you may be referring to a rod with more power than the 3/4-max flatside. If that's the case, try the rod filter at Tackle Warehouse.

I knew exactly what you meant but unfortunately I can’t help. I have a Falcon Lowrider 7’9” hvy and I’m looking for something just a little lighter.

I apologize for not understanding your post very well. 

 

   I hesitate to comment on rods that I haven't used or haven't been used by my friends. That covers a lot of ground. ? 

   One friend, however, has "discovered" Cashion rods. They're American-made in North Carolina. I've used some of his, albeit briefly. They have two rods that might interest you. One is their 7'-06" Elite MH Deep Diver, which tops out at 1 ounce.

   The other is called the Multi-Purpose Rod. It's 7'-04", MH/MF and tops out at one-and-a-half ounces.

   Cashion rods are lightweight, and most (if not all) use micro guides. I personally like micro guides for tactics that put a high degree of relatively constant stress on the blank ......... like deep divers.

   That's about all I can tell you. I myself, unfortunately, prefer fiberglass in a situation similar to yours. I got a St. Croix Mojo Bass Glass 7'-02" H/M last year, and I love it. I'm old, though, and I learned on fiberglass. I can understand some people not liking it.

St.Croix Legend Glass 7'2'' M or for heavier cranks the 7'4'' MH.  I would also recommend the G.Loomis IMX Pro Crankbait rods but I actually like the cheaper St. Croix better.

I probably should broaden my horizons and consider glass and composite. St Croix legend glass does sound very good. 

I have the 6' 10" MH/M Legend Glass, it's a very nice rod. I'd jump all over another if I could find it for the price I paid for the one I have.
