Skirt Tying Question
Looks like silicone to me, the description on TW states "similar to rubber" https://fishingskirts.com/

Shimano slx combo vs Fuego Ct/ Dobyn fury
Here is another consideration, can you get someone on the phone at Shimano that is as passionate about fishing as you can at Dobyns. I doubt it. Does Shimano have a lifetime warranty? Pretty sure Shimano is one year. For twenty dollars more you get Dobyns lifetime warranty (https://dobynsrods.com/warranty/. Break your rod pay fifty dollars and your replacement is on the way. On the Fuego vs Tatula, going forward I wont be paying a premium for the Tatula. Just isn't worth it for the T-wing which loves to grab leader knots and splices. I don't know why others have a problem with casting distance, my Fuego Ct is my farthest casting reel other than my TatSV. I dont have a TatCT so I cant speak to its performance.

Favorite M/F 7' ~ 7'3" BC Rod Under $150 ?
I'll third the recommendation of 703c. I own the Sierra, you can add jerkbaits to the list below.

Daiwa Tatula Elite 7’6 Ish Monroe vs Dobyns Champion XP 744
Hopefully someone with experience with Tatula Elite can chime, I'm simply going by lure weight rating on the two rods you mentioned. TAEL731MHFB by listed specs is closest to a DC744c which is a lot closer to the weight range you are looking to throw. One of the best tips I learned here on BR, is that most if not all rods perform best when throwing baits that weigh close to the median of the rods weight range. 1/4oz jig + trailer+ hook, skirt combined weight should match (close to) median value of rods bait weight range. Call Dobyns (they answer the phone), I did when I bought my Champion. They helped me drill down the choices for my specific needs.

Daiwa Tatula Elite 7’6 Ish Monroe vs Dobyns Champion XP 744
Are you referring to this rod, TAEL761HFB-AGS (1/4 - 1-1/2)? If so then the Dobyns, as its weight rating(1/4-1 oz) is a lot closer to your intended use. Take a look at the Dobyns 703c or 733c, my 703 handles those weights great and has plenty of backbone.

Wow, the black sea must have put a smile on your face. White sea bass are awesome, cant think of a better tasting fish other than maybe sculpin. As a young man I used to fish spotted bays at Carlsbad lagoon, scrounger with a hot pink curly tail grub. I miss catching them, they are kinda like the saltwater version of smallmouth. Beautiful and vicious fighters. How about Roosters?

Help! Newbie needs help building up rod/reel arsenal
If I were to start someone off, I'd likely suggest a Dobyns SA 703C that is listed as Med/Heavy - Fast. Its listed intended baits are Senkos, Jigs, Flukes, Texas Rigs, Spinnerbaits but I have found this rod to be a great for crankbaits and jerkbaits. It also throws weightless plastic very well for me although I have it paired with a Tatula SV. $170.00. Others to consider would be 704c and 734c. For your budget a Diawa Fuego CT in 7.3 Right hand, Can get them for around $100.00 maybe 80.00 on sale. You could go to a brick and mortar and try both to see what fits best, but dont force a change when your starting off.

That ALWAYS works....

Humorous Recommendations
Where they should be. The experience was so...........spaciously expansive and to be honest with you a little scary. Upon reflection of that day, with all the pulling, tugging and folding it's no wonder that I may have missed something. I really do try to pay attention to the details, but I wiffed on this one.

Humorous Recommendations
I'll have to take your word for it. It may be she didn't have any on to begin with, I just remember digging around and not coming across any.

Soup spilled on reel
Run with it if its all you have on hand, worst is you may have to service the reel a little sooner.

Soup spilled on reel
Are you saying that with a tightened drag, the drag star is loose immediately as you begin to back off drag? There should be resistance as you begin to loosen drag star.

Soup spilled on reel
Dude I'm dedicated to my rods and reels but taking them to a party? Hope it wasn't cream of mushroom, once dry that stuff could hold the space shuttle together. I'd break it down, scrub and oil/grease and re-assemble.

Modern tackle
- Savage Gear Magnum Shine Glide
Sorry I only have the smaller version 7 1/4, but it does swim and glide as its supposed to. Wouldn't think that up sizing would affect the performance of the bait.- 2020 Recap- Jig Magic
Once I caught my first jig fish, I was hooked. I'm like an addict, cant get enough. Bought a mold, pot and all the makings, I now have fifty jigs in two days of pouring and tying. And now have no fear of putting them where the fish are. I have two dedicated jig sticks a SA703 for 3/8 and down and a Champ 735 for 1/2 to 3/4. Plan on a Champ 736 also to be dedicated to jigs(1oz and up).- If you only can take one lure/bait and combo
