  1. He never said it was. May should read the message before posting.... He said he's not a fan of round reels but the Calcutta ( which is a round reel) would be an option.
  2. Alan Hawk? Who is that guy? Almost all technologies utilized by all reel manufacturers trickle down. X Protect, Micro Modular gearing, MQ, MagSeal, CRBB bearings. All of this stuff tricks down. The current Stradic FL is actually the old Stella. The new blank G Loomis is using in the E6X is the old IMX blank. Seems like a blanket statement Overall, the MQ body is genius.
  3. The Steez Frog Rod is fantastic. The gen 2 perfect pitch is a great choice as well. My buddy had a Toadface and had bad luck with hookups. Never fished it but he switched and is now much happier. Since you want a longer frog rod, I'd recommend a 74 H Legend Elite, 7'6 MB Valdivia, 7'7 H Expride, 7'6 H Steez AGS. If you like Dobyns, they have some options but I don't fish Dobyns.
  4. I have some ocean front property in Arizona.
  5. Phenix Feather and Ark Tharp Series. Both my favorite around that price.
  6. A lot of great manufacturers of rods but Megabass has something special about them.
  7. Personally, I tlike the Tatula Elite AGS, Megabass Orochi XX, Shimano Expride, Legend Tournament, Hammer JAK over the Dobyns
  8. So you have the spool tensioner set as well as the DC module? Make sure both are set and it should help minimize.
  9. Yikes. The new trolling motors are worth the coin for the features. I'm running the Garmin Force ? But yes, I carry a spare prop for both as well.
  10. I would suggest not buying the older model NRX if there are potential rumors of a new model. Just wait or buy a Steez AGS, K2, Legend Elite, Destroyer, Destroyer JDM that you know are not getting replaced this year
  11. E6X is a good rod but the $200 rod market has a lot of options. St Croix Avid X, Phenix Feather, Phenix M1, Phenix Recon Elite, E6x, Daiwa Tatula Elite and the Daiwa Rebellion are IMO the best for the price. Ark is also building great rods at the price. The only rod companies I don't buy rods from are Dobyns, Duckett, Kistler. Goodluck buddy!
  12. Looking to build a high end rod and curious to thoughts on blanks. I have considered Point Blank, K2, MHX Elite X, St Croix SCV. Are there any other high-end blanks to consider? How would you rate them in terms of sensitivity, light weight, overall feel?
  13. It's highly unlikely the reel. It's difficult getting use to baitcasters. All of us at one were in your shoes. Keep on keeping on
  14. Phenix X series, MB Orochi Launcher and IMX pro.
  15. That price was also before the 10% price increase from G Loomis. Most are around 550-600 now retail. The used rods can be had for that price I'd say look for a used NRX or GLX but I'd suggest unfortunately just spending the money. I know it's not what you want to hear lol
  16. Sorry to hear that buddy. Get it out and fish for him and know that he would want you happy. Get out there and catch them up in his honor
  17. Hey buddy! Welcome to the forums! If fishing freshwater, no need at all to clean after every use. After saltwater use, for sure though
  18. We are here to help eachother learn and enjoy fishing. Welcome to the forum and hopefully the forum has been a positive experience thusfar
  19. I would opt for Megabass Orochi XX Ronin, St Croix Legend Xtreme 7' M, Expride 7' M
  20. Priceless lol!
  21. Mono vs FC. FC everytime. No issues with my double san diego jam.
  22. My Lews does the same thing. I think every reel has a different noise so to speak lol. My Abu's make a bit more noise than my Shimanos as well.
  23. I fish the bunker buster and it's an excellent rod for the flipping and punching I do. I personally wouldn't throw a frog on it but I am sure it's more than capable. It's a bit long and has a bit more power than I desire. Spec wise if you want one of the 3, id pick the Faust but no experience with it. Any other rods you are considering? Which frog/frogs do you plan on throwing? Do you have a length preference?
