Its a blackhole once you starting getting to the $200+ reels and high end rods.

It took some time to get used to tbh lol. I’m not the tallest person in the world (I’m only 5’7) so a stick that long and stiff it took a while to get the positioning and working it comfortably correct from the bank. I did manage to land a couple solid fish with the biggest being a 5. So I’m glad I stuck with it.

No problem. I guess I can spool it up and slap it on my current rod lol. My intentions were to just let it collect dust lol I only bought it now because I was able to get it under retail. It’s actually suppose to go on a custom swimbait rod I’m not expecting for a bit lol.

Don’t feel bad. I’ve been skunked for like the past month and half now. Thats only because I’ve been throwing big baits as of late trying to catch a PB before the year ends. It is however making me antsy and I’m just tempted to break out the conventional gear just to catch a fish regardless of size sigh.

People will say the regular Avid will do just fine especially if you’re running braid to leader since the guides on the Avid X are literally so small. But with light line I dont think micro guides will be an issue.

A TS Destroyer or a custom rod with either a Calcutta Conquest or Ryoga for a new swimbait setup.

Big rats..late evenings or early mornings or I’ll be stubborn and just throw them all day. Shallow flats, over grass or up in coves. Nothing like a big one hammering a rat wake.

More heavy toys

I use the newer Lexa 300..so far its held up fine. Casts great, smooth..I’ve thrown everything from a 68 special all the way up to a Deps 250 with no issues. I do want a Luna, Ryoga or a Conquest if I do buy a new swimbait setup.

Well I got it half off so value wise You couldn’t beat it. If I were to pay retail though, I’d pay the extra for an Expride or even an Megabass Orochi.

My Destroyer/Certate but my Orochi/Luvias gets more use. The Whipsnakes such an underrated rod IMO. Plenty sensitive, perfect tip and action for finesse applications. The Luvias is light as well, lighter than my Certate, smooth, start up inertia isn’t that bad either.

I use a 744s champ xp for jigs/bottom contact and I don’t even feel its that sensitive..for the money anyways. I’ve held an Expride in hand and it just felt way better in hand.
