Need Serious Help
There's too many things I could explain about why you're not catching bass but since you're a beginner you need to know how bass are, what they eat and where they can be found, also weather and time of year, bassresource is a great site for gaining knowledge about this sport. Also try to gain some confidence in your presentation and learn how and where to throw your baits. For a beginner you're better off with a wacky rig. A youtuber named realistic fishing makes tons of videos for beginner bass fisherman. Check this video out about wacky rigs.

7’0 or 7’2 Rod
7'0 is a good starter point. My first baitcaster was actually 6'6 and a medium heavy fast action. A good beginner rod for you would definitely be a 7'0 MH fast action rod, it would cover just about everything except some finesse baits like the ned rig or wacky rig.

Going cheap when fishing new spots
One thing I always do when fishing a unfamiliar body of water for the first time ever is I go cheap. If i'm throwing a texas rig I'll replace my tungsten with lead. Maybe even replace the hooks with something cheaper. Even if i'm fishing moving baits like chatterbaits or topwater I'll downgrade to something cheaper, i'll replace let's say a jackhammer with a normal og chatterbait etc. Maybe even replace senkos with yum dingers, IMO it's just too risky losing expensive stuff on the unknown. Eventually after I figure things out I go back to the higher quality/expensive stuff Do you guys go cheap when fishing unknown water? Or do you have enough confidence you won't get snagged?

Golden Shiner patterns?
What would be a good color trailer to throw on that?

Golden Shiner patterns?
Hey guys. So up here in the Northeastern part of the United States specifically New Jersey we don't really have threadfin shad population but we do have gizzard shad and alewifes but the lakes I fish have a very big population of shiners specifically the golden shiner. (Pictured below) what are some good swim jigs/swim baits/cranks I could use or color patterns for these bairs to use to match the hatch?

Smaller Bluefish/Striper setup
Hey guys, my family and I take a trip every year to the Jersey Shore to be more specific the beaches of cape may. I really want to get into beginner level salt water fishing for snapper blues all the way up to striped bass around the 28inch mark. What would be and all around setup for this level of saltwater fishing? I was thinking maybe a medium heavy spinning setup, also to any bluefish anglers out there what would be some good lures to chase them with? I have no intention of using peanut bunker at the moment, only artificial lures.

Jig vs T-Rig
Old thread but I caught a monster 3 1/2lber in the dark with a 1/4oz flipping jig. They definitely catch bigger fish.

What is this black slimy stuff? Is it grass?
I tried that and brought in a mountain of it. I'll pass bro lol.

To say I had a good weekend of fishing is an understatement.. I had an EXCELLENT weekend of fishing. 11 bass total over the span of 2 days all from the bank and 7 fish being 2lbs+ including a giant 3-1/2lber I landed at 10:17PM after pitching a black n blue flipping jig into darkness near a parked speedboat. Say what you want about the number of fish being "low" but please remember i'm a bank angler who fishes pressured waters. I don't have the luxury of catching 50 fish per outing using fancy electronics lol. For me this weekend was the best fishing trip of the year and a huge confidence boost for me.- For the Bank fisherman: What "pushes" your buttons while fishing?
I have a buddy who doesn't smoke cigarettes but does that vaping stuff and it's so annoying lol. It's worst if he starts to get bored and isn't catching fish.- What do you always have tied on...
Senko weightless so far has been my skunk breaker this year, favorite colors are 297 green pumpkin and normal black- Confounding areas that produce and dont .
I fished from the bank this past weekend at a local lake we have property on, this specific spot is apart of a cove that has a bunch of dead algae on the bottom, for some odd reason this spot holds fish that usually suspend or hang out under our watercraft. All weekend long I was catching fish of this size by fishing flukes. Just as the bite got good there it quickly died at the turn of weather, just goes to show how dominating the skies can have on the fish. The fish were there, and they're still probably there, but as mentioned above the skies will always dictate them.- Has anyone else got wet to save a lure?
The jackhammer is the only lure I would go in to get. Not even a whopper plopper would get that treatment, went into snapping turtle infested pond water up to my ankle last week to get one unhooked from a bottom carpet like mat.- The situation at Berkley
All the walmarts around here are wiped. Pretty depressing to see honestly, it's been like this for months.- What is this black slimy stuff? Is it grass?
What would you throw in these conditions?- The situation at Berkley
I haven't been able to really purchase any powerbait products that I need anywhere in the past two months or so. It seems many products that I use are on backorder from most websites and even the stores I go to around here including mom and pop stores just don't really have anything to offer from Berkley as of lately. As of now Tackle Warehouse for example are on a continued backorder for many items such as the Pitboss brand and power worms. I also noticed that it's impossible to find chigger craws aswell... What's going on at Berkley? Did COVID-19 halt production of everything? They even restocked senkos which were on a long backorder...- What is this black slimy stuff? Is it grass?
Yes. It's a private lake where they treat it with stuff. Water also has a very darkish stain to it but there's a very large population of fish in there.- What is this black slimy stuff? Is it grass?
Hey BR, I'm gonna be fishing at one of my favorite lakes for 3 days this weekend. As you can see in the picture below of a bass I caught there two weeks ago it came in with some dark slimy weeds, this lake is filled with that, I don't know what to call it but it's mostly found on the bottom and suspends a bit in some spots, it seems like the only thing I can throw is weightless flukes and everything else will come in with this stuff, anyone know what it's called and what other baits I could throw with that slime in the water?- Pond has algae bloom! How would you fish it?
What colors would you recommend for cranks in that type of water?- Does GYB make a Green pumpkin Chart tail senko?
Can you send a link to the hookup tackle one? Lol that's probably the most weirdest name for a stick bait i've ever seen, but the bluegill imitation is spot on.- Does GYB make a Green pumpkin Chart tail senko?
What website was that on?- Does GYB make a Green pumpkin Chart tail senko?
I've been looking everywhere for it and I can't find it, I know other stick bait companies have the design but I can't find any from GYB. Any help? - Latest Catch Pics Thread
