Heavy or Medium Heavy for bottom contact?
That's what I was thinking to be honest

Fishing plastics, why the long pause
I feel a thump thump, I set the hook. end of story.. At the most I'll wait 2 seconds. I second this.

For the Bank fisherman: What "pushes" your buttons while fishing?
had it happen before, some guy who barely spoke English started asking me repeatedly "baits? baits? baits?" and then tried unzipping my backpack looking for worms, poor guy had a 8 foot surf rod and a bucket of plastic bags, and yes the park cops were called, don't steal.. Old salts do this to me a lot, (No offense to the older guys on the forums) lol especially the "what type of fish are in here?" "do you eat the fish?" comments are really annoying, especially if they're not even fishing. Junk fisherman are notorious for this...

For the Bank fisherman: What "pushes" your buttons while fishing?
^^ also can't stand when weekend anglers/kids start asking me a million questions about what I'm using, or worse they ask if they can "borrow" senkos and start creeping around my backpack...

Heavy or Medium Heavy for bottom contact?
Hey BR, Title really says it all, I need a new rod for bottom contact baits such as texas rigs and jigs. I usually throw 1/4oz and 3/8oz tugsten and all kinds of jigs in the same weight category, would I be better off with a medium heavy or heavy rod?

Does Herbicide treatment mess with bass?
I don't mind grass as long as it's not an infestation, submerged weed beds can have some of the best fishing, taking too much of that away either makes the fish go deep and suspend, or they'll just be lockjawed
-
Does Herbicide treatment mess with bass?
I used the word incorrectly, just another angler who knows the lake really well.

Does Herbicide treatment mess with bass?
How so? Do the fish relocate to areas that still hold baitfish?

Slowing Down
Slowing down an area helps really well, I tend to fish my moving baits in an area for a good thirty minutes and I'll switch retrieves up every 15 minutes, nothing on a moving bait means the fish are either wanting a finesse presentation or they're not there. the "lockjaw" explanation some anglers use is a half truth to be honest, the best example of lock jaw is being when bass shut down after a post front or during mid day suspension periods.

Does Herbicide treatment mess with bass?
Hey BR, Yesterday I fished my first tournament of 2020 on a lake up here in Northern NJ, me and the guide I was with noticed that the lake had a very low amount of sub surface aquatic plant life compared to years prior, after a very slow bite for most of the morning on a lake that usually produces fairly well it was revealed that the lake we were fishing was treated to kill off excessive weed growth this past Monday, does this have an effect on fish? Specifically bass? I was talking with some of the other anglers out on the water after our tournament and they told me it could mess with the bite for at least 2 weeks.. is this true?

Spike it question
I use the spike it markers to color my trailers and stick baits, do you guys recolor the same area after use for awhile? I recolored my same zako trailer so much during trips that the tail is now a solid green, should I continue to keep adding strokes to my trailers to keep a fresh scent after they've been colored originally or just let them be?

Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?
Why does cabelas keep saying different things? We're lucky if we get our boats by august when the season is %@$#ing over! At this point i'll take this over the wait for the bass raider....

For the Bank fisherman: What "pushes" your buttons while fishing?
Hey BR, Felt like starting this thread for all us bank anglers to discuss what annoys us about fishing the shoreline so I'll start: -Getting my line crossed by some weekend angler who only uses inline spinners! -People feeding ducks right by me! So annoying ? -Casting parallel to the bank and the wind pushes your lure back into the shore! -Miles of Geese poop -Comorants What about you guys? What annoys you about fishing from the bank?

Summer Bass Struggles (Please help)
Shade my friend, the fish get hot too.. grinded it out yesterday pitching into shade and managed a few, here in NJ the air temps were in the upper 80s. Get some senkos and just cast parallel to the bank in pockets of shade (if your body of water has that) twitch twitch let the bait fall on slack line. Rinse and repeat..

Watermelon red senkos
Bought some of the fading watermelon red senkos on tackle warehouse. What type of water clarity should I throw these in? Would they work in stained water? The color on these worms are kinda dark for watermelon lol

Cabels's or Bass Pro shops
Bass Pro has better deals, I also have a bias against cabelas right now because they keep giving me the run around about my Pelican Bass Raider I ordered..

I’m going to say something I truly never thought I’d say...
Yeah man I hear you, once you start fishing bigger water and get bigger bites the thrill gets much more exciting, one of the great things about this sport, I have a ton of respect and appreciation for the Trophy hunters on here, you guys are the real anglers who grind it out!

What is it about a black and blue jig with a black and blue trailer?
Better profile in deep water where the water clarity gets lowered, I fish a pond that is only 6 feet max with stained water and the fish prefer black/black-blue jigs over GPs, they do love #297 senkos though.

I’m going to say something I truly never thought I’d say...
I wish I could complain about catching 3lbers. But in all seriousness You hate catching fish below 3lbs? Catching one 3lber would make the trip memorable for me. We are on two different sides of the spectrum my friend. Next time you hook onto a 2 or 3lber please pass the rod over lol.
