How to prevent bass from doing "The jump"?
If you fish for bass you've seen it happen a million times, you set the hook on a really nice fish and while it's fighting it does "the jump" and it's awesome to see what your fish looks like before you're able to land it, but my problem with this is trying to prevent the fish from jumping, it's rather annoying if your hook comes flying out the fishes mouth and you just lost one. When ever I set the hook I immediately make sure my rod is at a downward angle to prevent the bass from jumping, but sometimes it still happens, (lost two nice fish yesterday because of this) Anyway, how do I prevent bass from jumping? I seem to be doing the right thing but sometimes it still happens. Any ideas?

How do you fish a texas rig?
Hey all, The texas rig is probably my favorite rig for all around bass fishing and it's very easy to catch largies and smallies on but my question today is what style do you fish the texas rig? Are you a hopper or are you a dragger? When I fish a texas rig I usually let it sit for 5 to 10 seconds then proceed to hop it and let it sink again, then repeat. I've heard other people say you should drag and drop almost like a Carolina rig, what is your guys opinion on how to fish the legendary T-rig?

Bank fishing in the summer heat. Advice anyone?
Yeah, a local spot I've been fishing at stopped giving me results once the heat went past 90, gonna have to slow it down a notch probably use some shakey heads or NED rigs, also what is a good size for a whopper plopper? (Beginner topwater guy here)

What the fish are eating
If there's no crawdads in your lake I would still fish craws/creatures on soft plastics and trailers, My private lake I have acess to fish has very little crawfish but I still throw my pit boss and get dinks. Now if you're trying to imitate baitfish I would go with a shallow to mid crank in what ever baitfish color. (Sexy Shad, Shiner maybe) on my lake it's stained and only shiners are the main bait fish, (We also have Perch and Sunfish) You said your lake is pretty clear so you can definitely get away with throwing sexy shad cranks and spinnerbaits, for soft plastic colors I would definitely go with Green Pumpkin or Watermelon red flake, they're sleeper colors on clear lakes. Also maybe some white paddletails on green pumpkin chatterbaits would work.

Bank fishing in the summer heat. Advice anyone?
Anyone got some personal advice or tips for a fairly new bass-only angler? This will be my first summer where I specifically target bass during the warm dog days at my local ponds bank fishing. I don't have a bass boat so I'm limited to the shoreline and mainly throw Texas rigged craws and Chatterbaits if it's not weed infested. Any advice on how to target those fish when they can't stand the heat? Past two weeks I've been getting results at my nearby ponds but now that the heat is really starting to kick in these fish are nowhere to be seen. I've heard about pitching shaded cover and jigs. but I would like to hear personal advice from actual anglers on how to handle the dog days. Thanks!

Does the summer heat have a daily impact on bass?
- Bass attractants... something to invest in?
How well does mega strike work on Dingers? Since YUM already scents them.- Bass attractants... something to invest in?
Tell that to the Internet fishermen like the googans and others who keep hyping up scent brands. Does this scent destroy soft plastics like others? Might be something to invest in maybe??- Bass attractants... something to invest in?
What does it do exactly? Make the bass more likely to strike because it smells like a natural prey baitfish or craw?- Bass attractants... something to invest in?
Hey all, recently while fishing around my local lakes the question dawned on me. "Would I be catching more bass if I bought attractants?" I've seen it all and you guys probably have to. Bass attractants are the next big thing because it gives your lures a more natural taste and scent. But what I'm confused about is it really worth the money just to have a higher chance for a bass to keep a lure in it's mouth a bit longer. What do you guys think about bass attractants? Something to invest or stay away from?- Ever accidentally hook a bass?
Yeah but I didn't feel anything on my line, usually I feel a thump with senkos. That's what made it surprising to me. First for everything! Had this happened once, was fishing a lake with a buddy of mine and left my frog in the water while we were using the trolling motor at top speed, next thing I knew My rod was halfway in the water hahahaha.- Ever accidentally hook a bass?
I was out today at my local pond in Northern NJ and was 4 bass in using a chatterbait, I switched over to my whacky weedless setup and was pitching into some Bushes near the water line, worked it through the water until it was ready to be reeled in and repeated, 30 minutes passed and I decided to switch up things so while I was reeling my slack line I did a fake hookset out of curiosity and man next thing I knew a little dink was jumping out the water and my line was being pulled, I thought to myself? Did I really just hookset a bass that wasn't even interested in my senko? Wow hahahahaha You gotta love fishing at times! Ps I had to resize the image because it was over a few MBs on my phone. The fish had a perfect hookset too! Hahahaha- Best braid lb for a beginner with braided line?
Wind knots? What are those? 7 medium spinning rod Not a beginner, just never used braid before bud- Best style of trailer for Chatterbaits?
Hey all, I recently been using Z-Mans Original chatterbaits a lot in 3/8oz and man I've been having a blast, but now my question is about trailers, can anybody recommend some good actual trailers for me? I've been using ripped paddle tail dingers and some old rage craws for now but I want something that's you know... an actual trailer for chatterbaits, Anybody got some suggestions?- Best braid lb for a beginner with braided line?
I have a Daiwa spinning reel I recently got on sale at Dicks Sporting goods, problem is it has no line and I alrwady have a spinning reel and rod that has mono on it. So I decided I should give braid a shot for this one, any brand suggestions? Lb test etc?- Cannot catch fish since the heat began. Help!
It's gonna be like this all summer my fellow New Jersey anglers. Upper 90s all next week please fish at dusk or in the morning don't risk it mid-day! You'll get skunked hardcore. Yeah I was at Greenwood lake today the slop kept hooking on to my chatterbait! Caught a nice Perch though on the zman before it started raining. Try weedless baits like T rigging or whacky weedless pick up some Berkeley pit boss at walmart been killing it in green pumpkin purple- Cannot catch fish since the heat began. Help!
Oh yeah down south in the pines that's pickerel country hahahaha color codes are basically what color of bait to throw in the water based on water clarity and what the bass can see.- What is a popular opinion you disagree with?
-Crankbaits work in the summer -Big bass want big lures -You need a 7'6 heavy for pitching -The Googan squad are the greatest thing to happen to fishing -Bass don't bite mid day -Chatterbaits don't catch perch -Senkos catch more fish than dingers -Carp don't eat crankbaits (KVD proved this one) -The southern states produce the best bass fishing -Black and blue flake is better than junebug -LTB is better than MTB -Hybrid bass don't reproduce -Smallmouth are picky -Catfish are bottom feeders only I can go on and on but I think you get my point to be honest.- Cannot catch fish since the heat began. Help!
As a fellow New Jersey resident and bass angler I understand your frustration and have been there, our state is heating up and the bass are gonna notice it, my advice to you is try in the early morning or around 6:30 to 7 at night when the sun isn't as bright on the water. I've gone weeks with catching no fish at all to weeks where I can only get maybe one or two dinks if I'm lucky. If you are in the Bergen or Passaic Area I can point out a few spots to check out and color codes that produce bass for Me, it's hard though considering a lot of water ways in our state are pressured and the bass are picky. - Bass attractants... something to invest in?
