  2. you should be able to find a pretty decent boat for 5k, my first boat which I still own and am currently redoing I gave 2k for it 16ft fiberglass Performance w/70 hp. So ya you can find one just shop around a little.
  3. Guess its just too hot down here for em then, i know there are some monster largemouth down here ,and well spots you can catch big numbers they usually dont have much size but I been wondering bout the smallies.
  4. i realize some southern states have em but nowhere in mississippi that i know of, I live about 90 miles north of the gulf coast
  5. I use a trailer on my spinnerbait almost always just gives it a little more body bulks it up and have had alot more success with the trailer than without.
  6. Whenever I got serious about bass fishing I too only had the one rod/reel combo. I would use a snap swivel and then started buying some lower line stuff along. After I had collected about a dozen lower end rod/reel combos I started upgrading its been a few years now but I have upgraded em all and still have the other "just in case", backups I guess you could call em.
  7. Just depends on where you are. Few things were mentioned first of all Matt mentioned water temp being 41, and then again where Im at in south mississippi the water temp was 66 mid last week. Fish have been spawning last 2-3 weeks here. Also LBH mentioned the spawn lasting several weeks keep that in mind it will happen slowly and all the fish wont spawn at the same time so maybe you will get a chance to go.
  8. First of all Chris thats a really nice fish. I have no problem with bed fishing as long as you are practicing catch and release, let them big mommas get back to that bed and take care of those eggs. What I do have a problem with is people who ****** fish off of beds by intentionally foul hooking em, come on lets play fair. A guy did this in a tournament I was fishing a few weeks ago and they let him get away with it, upset quite a few people including myself.
  9. Although I dont fish them or any other live bait for that matter I do know a few people who fish them on a river close to where I live and the bass seem to love em
  10. usually the day after it rains it will muddy the water up, i like to try and find some lay downs and brush piles and pitch a blue/black jig
  11. kind of a brownish orangish color
  12. LBH, where can you buy a life jacket like that, I wouldnt mind having one for winter fishing. Would be nice for those long runs on the river.
  13. i havent looked but you may try the links section on this site and may find a club there. thats how i found the club im in now is through bass resource
  14. id try and fish it anyway man never know what that broken lip may do for that bait , i had a crankbait i broke a lip on one time , it run straight for a while then it would sometimes have a somewhat eratic action to it that bass seemed to like
  15. 1/2 ounce blue/black ISG elite series jig with a craw trailer
  16. alot of times i have noticed bass holding tight to structure befor the spawn then they will usually use ditches to move up into shallow water to make their beds and spawn, i know this happens in lakes, i dunno bout ponds
  17. I live in South Mississippi, I been fishing largemouth for a while and alot of spots too. But where are the smallies? I was looking for somewhere to give my hand a try at catching some smallmouth, doesnt seem to be any in this part of the country for some reason. Just wondering if anybody might know why, if its the climate or what.
  18. As far as I know any coast guard approve pfd is allowed.
  19. Ive ran a little of both but 93 is whats worked best for me, my boat never sits long tho Im out every week of the year in it, if it sits for 2 weeks its a miracle, does matter to me if its 20 degrees or 120 degrees Im on the water. Water rarely freeze down here in south mississippi so I fish year around so dont have to worry about stabalizer.
  20. I havent found a senko that will out perform yamamoto. Its proven performance time and time again.
  21. Never have seen em , look good tho, Im gonna have to try em, I drop shot alot.
  22. The only thing us tournament guys do is add more fishing pressure. Not putting down on the normal fisherman but in my opinion those who are complaining dont know to catch those pressured bass. Us tournament anglers are forced to step our game up and make the proper adjustments in order to catch bass some of the normal fisherman havent learned to do that. I think if they make the proper adjustments and learn to fish when the bass are under alot of fishing pressure theyll quit complaining. I have caught myself saying before Im not gonna be able to catch anything with all these people on the water on days when the lake was crowded. I learned to adjust and fish with the pressure. Thats just my opinion on the matter.
  23. I have a friend that swears by those red hooks but in my experience it hadnt made a difference
