  1. I was fishing this morning and got hung up on a stump, no big deal I thought. I'll maneuver the boat around and get it loose from the opposite side...wrong..After trying a few times I decided to just pop the line..it's only 6lb test..how hard could it be right?..harder than I thought. Reeled in as much line as possible then started pulling on the line thinking it would just snap...then it snapped..not the line..my rod. Here's what I don't get. How come when you're crappie fishing ( which is what I was doing) and you get a good size bass on the line it snaps, catch a stump and the line won't break to save your life?..
  2. If the fish does die, I'm sure some creature will eat it. It won't go to waste.
  3. I had a frog in my throat once..dislodged it with a Bud lite..
  4. I've only owned 2 4 stroke outboards (both Mercs) and both performed great. I guess what I'm asking is do you think the 4 strokes are as reliable in the long run as the old 2 strokes..
  5. I know what y'all are saying, it just seems that people weren't really too worried about hours on the old 2 strokes like they are the 4 strokes.
  6. You're right. I understand that car engines are not run as hard as outboards are. That being said, 4 stroke outboards should be able to perform for their intended use which includes running at high rpms. The 2 strokes have been doing it for years reliably.
  7. I'm glad to hear that the wood decks held up so good. I was wondering how well the decks would hold up over time. Thanks for the info. I appreciate all the responses and info. Tracker is the closest dealer to me unless I travel about 100 miles. No sense doing that if I don't have to. The boaat I have now has a 20 hp 4 stroke Merc which has been very reliable. I have it serviced every year as well.
  8. I'm getting ready to get a new boat and would like any opinions on Tracker boats and Mercury outboards. The closest dealer to me is a Tracker dealership that uses Mercury outboards. I've read horrible reviews of people being without their boats for months because of issues with Tracker not wanting to honor their warranty. Same with Mercury. Any thoughts welcomed Thank you
  9. Yes we are...born in Lebanon,Tn...go Vols!
  10. I believe you're right..
  11. I don't understand why people are concerned about hours on an outboard motor. Some articles I've read say that 4 strokes are good for about 1500 before needing major work.. If that's true, than that doesn't say much for the life cycle of 4 strokes. There's 2 strokes out there that's older than me(I'm 45) that are running just fine without ever having more than just regular service and God only knows how many hours on them. I've bought several old 2 stroke outboards without even thinking about hours of use. Also, why would a 4 stroke outboard be any less reliable than a 4 stroke car engine? It just seems to me that some people use that 1500 hours as a countdown to disaster on new outboards. It just seems nobody cared about the hours on 2 strokes but seem concerned about the hours on new 4 stroke outboards. I hope someone will understand what I'm saying. Sometimes I have a hard time getting my thoughts across. I'm not playing favorites, the 4 strokes are great and the 2 strokes are as well.
  12. To the best of my knowledge that's where it came from. Spiders in the bananas caused alot of deckhands and harvesters to die.
  13. I have yet to land a bass that weighs double digits or to limit out on panfish..
  14. I have a 2017 Tracker 15ft flat bottom boat with a 20hp 4 stroke Merc. I'm debating on trading it in on a used bass boat or just keep it and set it up the way I want. Any opinions? Thank you.
  15. My dad died when I was 5. My grandpa took me fishing with him sometimes. The first fish I can remember catching wasn't a bass but a speckled perch. My uncle was with us.I remember him hollering for grandpa to help me, grandpa said "hell, he's got it". I got it into the boat, 2lbs..biggest one that day...remember when rods were metal?
  16. Is it wetter under water if you're there when it rains? What gets wetter as it dries?....ice..
  17. Thank you for your help

  22. The only reason a bass doesn't taste good is if the cook screws it up..they can be scaled and cooked just fine without skinning them..ate plenty of them that way..
