  1. Most definitely, the traditional ned rig is open hook, but there are ewg ned heads around today. --- My top 5 finesse list would be incomplete without the flickshake or wacky rig.
  2. Is this a real thing? I thought boiled peanuts were bad enough.
  3. Good info, I love the Mojo rig, this will be perfect for it.
  4. Thanks, what’s your preferred rigging?Think I’ll try it as a dropshot bait.
  5. Normal people are the weirdest ones of all
  6. I enjoy fishing rigs that others seem to avoid except as a last resort, and even despise. I fish finesse all day every day. Dropshot? Yes! Ned rig? Yes! Carolina/ mojo rig? Yes. I must be weird.
  7. Once you go black…
  8. Bps makes a weight called xps hook weights designed for keel weighting so you can make your own, just clamp them onto your hook of choice. They make them from 1/16 to 1/2oz.
  9. Dang, wish this rod was around a few years back. I actually found a kistler that's close to this rod on paper, it's a 7'3" heavy/mod-fast 3/8-2oz (they make a 7'6" version too), I'll get around to trying one someday, I'm all in on finesse fishing, bfs, and kistler rods right now (backseat tournament fishing). If interested it's here: https://kistlerrods.com/products/klx-deep-cranks-swimbait-umbrella-rigs-casting-rods?variant=39776676773936
  10. Just a note, the 736cb they offer is a composite glass rod, the 706cb is all graphite and very light for a heavy power rod.
  11. Put in another 8 hours on Minneloa and Minnehaha this last Sunday, she’s being real stingy, I caught 2, partner skunked. My first came a shakey head, second came on a weightless trick worm. Partners only strike came on a frog. Water’s high and on the clear side with about 3-4 feet of visibility, dark tannic colored. Light winds and high temp was 90 with high humidity. Kind of miserable but it sure beats working!
  12. Found it, it's the zoom fish doctor. Thanks for the help!
  13. Got a link? All I can find is a salt oriented company out of Yonkers NY, no soft plastics at all on their site, mostly jigs and bait rigs.
  14. Come again? I think auto correct got you. Most of the fry type worms I've seen are completely round.
  15. I recall this being a zoom product but I don't see it on their website or anywhere for that matter. Measures in at 1/16" shy of 4 inches, and one side of it is completely flat.
  16. Fish Fry! I'll bring the beer!
  17. Not what you asked, but I'm done buying $400 prescription shades, my last pair were wiley-x, one of the lenses popped out unbeknownst to me while it was hanging around my neck, never found it. I then purchased a pair of regular prescription glasses in a small lens/frame from zenni just for use under some cheap amazon fit-overs, super happy with the combo, under $100 total.
  18. This is one the few rods I regret selling. It has plenty of horsepower for both applications. I even used to throw the 1.5oz jackall gantarel jr among other swimbaits on it and swimjigs too. A real sleeper in the dobyns lineup. I wish they made a 7'3" version of it.
  19. Check out the owner wide gap plus, they tend to have a wide gap relative to it's length.
  20. @NittyGrittyBoy if you out there I'd like to know more about this lure, maker?
  21. That red craw one looks like a dead nuts copy of the norman fatboy, which itself I believe was a copy of another old crank, I can't remember which one.
  22. Two setups covers my jig and worm duties: 7’3” Kistler Helium HMH - 3/8+ flipping and swimjigs, occasional Texas/punch rig. 7’0” Kistler Helium LMH - Various worm rigs; jika, mojo, neko, shakeyhead, bubbashot.
  23. I love the Mustad alpha grip finesse. Sticky sharp 1x forged hook, epoxied eye, bent metal keeper, an o'shaughnessy hook shape/gap that stays crazy glued to fish, and very strong. Easily the best soft plastics hook I've ever come across, perfect for finesse rigging with spinning or casting gear; weedless dropshot, split shot, and mojo rigging.
  24. As your bait approaches it’s target, raise your rod high and lower it when it hits the water to provide maximum slack, you can strip line too if necessary or if fishing deeper. Typically a bait will be pulled down and will freefall only during the last half or third of its fall.
