  1. The laughing emojis at the end of the comment mean to not take too seriously, it's just some light hearted taunting. My preference is definitely casting but now that I've recently moved from Florida to Washington state I could actually see me with some spinning outfits again especially if I get back into salmon and steelhead.
  2. Sorry to jump off topic in eerrr... Off topic? 😁 @scaleface I'm not surprised, they're popular. One last recco most have not seen is called "Dark", it's a subtitled German film that's very intense and complex, mind blowing imo https://www.netflix.com/title/80100172
  3. Just read a quick blurb on it, I'll be checking it out, looks to be be right up my alley! If you like scifi dramas I can recommend 3 body problem and a new season of fallout just dropped too.
  4. Did you apply that same field test methodology to the drop shot? (jk 😉, sort of). You can get a short vertical fall by finishing with the rod tip high, for any depth you'll probably need some manual help. For paralleling vertical structure or hitting bottom targets?
  5. For those that have tried BFS fishing, what has your experience been like? Better than expected? Worse? Way above expectations for myself. I no longer own any spinning outfits, sold them all off 2years ago if that tells you anything. Advantages and disadvantages? Advantages: Stealth, control, accuracy, speed, line management Disadvantages: Ease of use, cost (getting better), not for deep water Have some big fish stories? Good or bad.
  6. If you want the same worm presentation but vegetation friendly look into the jika rig, it was one of my staples during my tournament fishing years down in Florida, mostly with fat roboworms and senkos.
  7. Just want to add that my third favorite hobby is Tacos. That's right, if cooking is a hobby then so is eating! 🌮
  8. Cool, I'll take you up on that when I get some free time, what time of day is best for you? I peeked at your profile and see you like bullet chess and dailies, unfortunately this 50 something year old brain is not great at quick calculations plus I've only been seriously studying less than 6 months so bullet is out, does 10 or 15min time controls work for you? Daily is ok too.
  9. Color me surprised, I pictured you out in the yard all winter furiously working on your dropshot technique
  10. Nothing wrong with that, a wise investment in time for sure. I was a gym regular right up until covid and then just lost the momentum. Gotta get back to it, thinking of building a small gym at home starting simple with an olympic bar/plates and a few kettlebells. Not sure why it's combining my last 2 comments, just to be clear the sunglass lift is for the car not ajay
  11. About 6 months ago I found myself unemployed with an abundance of spare time on my hands and unfortunately with my living situation fishing wasn’t an option and I've been lurking here less and less, so naturally my restless brain found another rabbit hole to stick my head into - the game of chess. I’ve always been a casual player but apparently spending hundreds of hours studying a board game is a perfectly normal response when you can’t go fishing. It’s been a fun ride so far and I don’t see it slowing down soon, though I’ll still fish any time I can. So I’m just curious what non-fishing hobby or obsession takes or has taken over your brain when fishing is not an option?
  12. Understandable but easily mitigated by finishing high with the rod and/or slightly overcasting.
  13. I've been using casting gear for pitching the dropshot rig to shallow cover with a bfs reel/spool and 1/8-3/16oz weight for a long time, I find the lighter weight makes it an extremely stealthy and natural presentation.
  14. For me the fluke is an alternative to the caffeine shad, less and less so as the years go by. Nothing cast or skips as well as the caff shad, and the senko like tail wiggle on the drop seals the deal for me as the best soft jerk bar none.
  15. Kistler Helium 7'3" hmh (4.5 power). Heavy backbone/mh tip, 3.6 ounces, a pitching and skipping machine.
  16. It's the only way I roll when c-rigging. Love it for superior long distance sensitivity and hooksets.
  17. Check out the gambler burner craw, it has a nice thick meaty body for the lure keeper to dig into.
  18. A firm sweep gets me a pretty high landing ratio.
  19. I flipshot exclusively: Kistler Helium 7’0” LMH Daiwa Alphas 800 12lb P-Line Tactical Fluoro Mustad Tactical Alpha Grip hook No gobies in Florida, but they sure like the Roboworm 6in Fat, Netbait T-Mac, and the Strike King caffeine shad.
  20. Speaking of southern bands...
  21. I use silent squarebills exclusively, even in low vis water. The og lc 1.5 is my anytime anywhere goto crank.
  22. My one rod for those apps is a 7ft st croix med/fast avidx with 12lb yozuri hybrid. I like to get into the backbone faster around shallow cover and imo fast is better than mod-fast for ripping traps. I favor the better hooksets of a fast over "keeping em pinned" with a mod-fast and have no issues with landing ratio, it's all preference ymmv. I'd say err monkey says experiment with both.
  23. White, user error no doubt. I don't get why is black and blue so prominent, bass don't see blue
  24. Old fisherman's adage: The best knot is the knot you can tie best.
