Taking your fishing to the next level
Going fishing is what has helped me the most, you can't catch fish unless you're on some body of water fishing it! Keep at it wherever you are.

Dumb Question
I've practiced throwing lures that I cut the hooks off, (my cat runs after everything I throw) for years. You can get good at casting and getting out of stuff like trees, bushes, etc. My neighbors usually yell "Caught anything yet" when they see me in the yard casting.

Another prespawn/spawn advice request
Leave the spawning fish alone to spawn in my book thats cheating!

For those that fish everyday...How happy are you? :)
My greatest joy of fishing was when I went every day or every other day in the summer and chased the schoolies, wow what a thrill top water action non stop, loved it could catch 50 fish easy in a few hours! Lakes with lots of fish and a boat!

When does the season start for you guys?
Fishing never shuts down for me unless it's snow on the ground which is rare here in the center of good ole North Carolina. Went fishing today and the season is wide open, caught some nice crappie and lots of brim. Going tomorrow think I'll keep a couple crappie to cook for dinner!

For those that fish everyday...How happy are you? :)
I'm retired and I love being able to go fishing when ever I please, it is a lot of fun! I usually fish alone but enjoy when someone goes with me that makes it a challenge since I'm competitive. I've lived on a farm that had a pond and really the novelty somehow wears off, more fun to go somewhere different. So, having more time to fish allows you to do it and it's fun being retired and going fishing, but no more than when I was younger and fishing, that was super fun too. If you like to fish you'll enjoy all times you get to go!

Banning skin mounts
25 years ago I caught a 6lb bass out of a local lake, put it in the live well and drove around the corner to the weigh in to have it weighed. The bass was dead when I took it out, couldn't have been in the live well more than 5 minutes. So I weighed it and tried to revive it but no success. My neighbor then had a taxidermist shop so I got him to mount the fish, wasn't going to eat it or waste it. Cost a lot of money even back then but it looks as good as day one. I practice catch and release but sometimes stuff happens thats beyond your control, I've never regretted mounting my fish, I would mount a 10lb or better one if I ever catch it!

The Challenge vs. the Enjoyment
Top water bite for sure and let it be LMB wow can't get any better. I love being outdoors so nature is wonderful can't be duplicated, every fishing event is a memory of how good life is!

Winter Tackle Organization
I have two small soft sided tackle bags one for bass and one for crappie & brim. Easy to carry, filled with necessary lures not so much one of every kind. I've had many kind of tackle boxes, bags over the years found thats just over kill, most of the time it's like collectables instead of lures you use. I fish ponds and you have to walk a lot so no need to lug a bunch of stuff. I've got the super nice bags with compartments and that keeps everything located were I want it and lightens up the load also. No plastic boxes inside the bag.

Which of these NC lakes to fish - Kerr, Hyco, or High Rock
High Rock yes, nice medium size lake, Hyco fees are way too high as you stated Kerr Lake is huge, you have to plan on which part of the lake you're going to fish so you're fishing a part of the lake within the lake. Trust me on this it is a huge lake!

Pure fishing buying more brands
I've owned several Penn reels and one Finn Noor rod and reel combo, neither of these brands lasted or was even usable after a couple of years use. Wouldn't buy either ever again Shimano or Daiwa is the way to go!

Opinions: The Most UNDER / OVER rated Rods & Reels
St Croix overrated, all of them, underrated Japanese make rods any of them.

Fish Stocking
My neighbor raised some albino cat fish to sale for eating, he has a midsize pond he raised them in. I use to go catch them with top water minnow plugs, fun to reel in not much challenge. He gave it up after the first season don't know if he lost money or just too much work, might have been both.

Missing four of five?
I think it helps to fish with the lightest line you can get away with, I fish mono and really have no trouble filling the bite. I think a hit is when the fish has tapped the lure or already spit it out, you're late reacting so you miss the fish. The bite is when the fish eats the lure and you know you got to set the hook. A real good rod also helps, those rod makers don't make broom sticks and they do a good job of creating sensitive fishing poles! You got to spend the money and get one that lets you feel the bite. Some rods fish like broom sticks and you're never going to feel much of nothing till the fish hangs itself.

Solunar tables
Full moon all creatures in the wild feed more, people just act more crazy! Go anytime and every time you can, fish don't have any kind of time schedule, they are subject to the elements and survival.

Piedmont Bass Fisherman Inquiry?
The Lakes in Greensboro are all the same not much difference in any of them, they are run by the city rec people and you pay to launch your boat. They are small lakes that get a lot of pressure from fishing, you can catch fish but in my opinion you'd be better fishing the other lakes you have listed.

Bass Fishing Questions - More Answers
Went fishing two times this week Sunday & Monday before the cold front moved in last night, caught two bass one 2lbs one 1lb and a nice hand size crappie. All were caught on light tackle/crappie pole rigged with a road runner and a small gulp minnow. Fishing a pond, easy 1/1/2 acre depth not over 10 feet water temps 58-60 degrees. Fish were cool to the touch not cold and the biggest bass did air shake, fun for December! Thanks for the tips Sam, I forgot fish are fish in the winter too and they can see you. Had to sneak up on them.

Bass Fishing Questions - More Answers
OK couldn't find where to put this question so I figured this is good as any. Question the water temp in the pond I'm fishing this week is 58 degrees I've thrown everything I can think of and caught nothing. The bass seem to be sunning theirselves and swim off if you make the least bit of movement, what's up with this, how do I catch some fish before the weather turns cold again?

Who else is going fishing on Christmas day
Yes the temps here are going to be above freezing for several days and in the 50-60s for 5 days, I gotta catch something with my new gear!
-
What's on your fishing Christmas list?
Save your money on those Frog Toggs they're no good, I had a set lasted a few months, can't take heat or being packed up cold as ice and really useless. Get a better brand, anything not Frogg Toggs. A new rod, maybe a new fish bag, just a little bit warmer weather so I can go fishing without ice on my rod. Water temps are in the low to mid 40's here brrrrrr.
