  1. Have never thrown an A-rig and likely never will. It's too much going on there. There's many other effective baits that I don't throw mainly due to tackle overload.
  2. Interesting 🤔 and very good write-up.
  3. We are into day # 8 of consecutive rain days and over 5". Calling for rain tonight and tomorrow. Not complaining because we were extremely dry but can't remember the last time we've had over a week of steady rain. Fishing plans are cancelled for tomorrow due to potential flooding here in the north western part of VA.
  4. Welcome Mike, I like the username 🙂

Thinking this is a good place to post this. Here's my new addition to backpacking, A flat lay hammock, hanging tent. I've got 8 nights in it and it's a game changer.
  6. Enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing.
  7. Fishing line ❓ always pick it up and when I snag it on the water it gets wound around my hand and shoved in a compartment on the boat. Trashing the environment is done by non caring illiterate people who will likely continue to be a disgrace to society. I do pick up others trash but not always.
  8. Why not use YouTube ❓ You can subscribe through Amazon MyOutdoorTV for 9.99 per month. Watched the same junk as you and agree.
  9. When I was looking for the perfect rod for the Karashi the Megabass P5 pop X kept coming up in my research......then I saw the price 😳 I throw the Karashi on spinning and settled on TFO Pro 6'6 light. The tip does very well enhancing the action of this little bait. If you want high end then get the Pop X and put a Curado bfs on it. Oh perhaps no necessary but I put a VMC #1 split ring on all my Karashi's.
  10. Personal preference: Prefer not to fish water disturbed by carp. I don't believe that they chase all the bass from a particular cove that they are spawning in but for some reason I feel less confident as the water is stained and they are darting everywhere. I'll find another place to fish in peace.
  11. We're all different and have various preferences, it's all good. On moving baits I only throw straight braid. With subtle presentations " finesse " I use a 6ft flouro leader. Don't like any part of the leader getting into the reel. Plus all break-offs is at the hook allowing reuse of the leader. No need for 20ft of leader. Imo

Appears to be accurate given the evidence 😊
  13. Many years ago I made the switch to Vanish flourocarbon and the years that followed left me with a FILTHY mouth. Went back to mono and then about 7 years ago started migrating towards finesse fishing. That's when I went back to flouro as a leader and braid as main line...... found holy grail.

I was once an avid backpacker and have done many solo trips. Never once did I feel alone or experience fear. The driving force behind the adventure was to be alone and be remote while hanging in a hammock. Still have all the equipment and still go occasionally.
  15. 1st and foremost you should have the properly rated rod for the bait being thrown. I'm braid to leader so never swing for the fences. As a line watcher " why I hate wind " I usually see the bite and reel up slack, feel tension, set hook. On my finesse setups there's always a little drag on the hook set. On moving baits and trebles it's simply a sweep.
  16. How about just tell us.
  17. Definitely overpriced but they work.
  18. I have ( 2 ) ML and ( 1 ) light that are my work horses in the clear water that I'm accustomed to. Omen Gold ML-F has been perfect for 1/16 Ned rig. Mojo Bass ML- XF has served well for 1/8 Drop-shot. Temple Fork L - MF throwing Karashi. Have fun on your trip.

Have no idea what those Coike baits represent or why they'd be effective but several fishing companions have asked me about them. Good luck in the tournament and be safe.
  20. Wow, quite the ride there. Sounds like it will be better moving forward....... good news.
  21. Without the holes I simply tie 2 overhand knots. I'm an avid braid user so always have backing and connect that to the main line via an Alberto.
  22. Camped on a clear lake in WV with all rocks and no grass. Couple on a Karashi and most on a Ned.
  23. Soooo a lot has changed in a year 😁 Glad the site is up and running.
  24. I still have several packs of black and motor oil left.
  25. Wow 😲 beautiful.
