I remember when Internet forums became a “thing”. And I was a member of many. Mostly for hunting, archery and the NFL. Some stayed small; some grew quite large. Two things doomed most of them. The pursuit of pure profit at the expense of content; and a lack of good moderators to oversee and eliminate posters whose only objective was to troll and attempted to dominate the site.

I didn’t join BR until after I got back into fishing, which was after the downfall and demise of most forums I participated in. I wasn’t expecting anything different, but I was shocked. BR reminds me of the heyday of Internet forums. Great content, members who share knowledge and stories, and mods who enforce the rules and maintain decorum.

Many younger members who grew up with Facebook, Tik Tok and Twitter may have no idea that this is what the internet used to be. Those of us old enough to recall it cherish what we have here. Glenn, you’ve stayed clear to your vision. You can hang your fishing cap on that!

Interesting 🤔 and very good write-up.

Interesting to read a bit more about your life @Glenn! I've spent my career making things for other people in tech (video game designer and some tv writing on my end), and I bet being able to have something of your own has been a nice sanity restoring practice. Thanks for doing this for us!

Absolutely. I'm just about 40, while I'm still youngish, I remember the old good Internet. I'm probably the last generation to do so. This place is the last hold out of that.

Very cool. I like how the picture really showcases that trustworthy mustache. Congrats on the write up, and thanks for your vision, and work to build BR.

Congrats… well deserved. Not only have you created a successful forum, where I’ve learned vast amounts of knowledge. I have made friends and had lot of fun.

Great write up! Anglers who aren't BR members don't know what they are missing!

Glenn emphasized how teaching fishing is his purpose and Bass Resource's purpose. Well, he has succeeded. Glenn has taught me so much.

It’s not by accident that this site has lasted through the years. It is a tribute to Glenn, and his team. I have been a member of several other site that were excellant local and national sites but these could not survive because topics and personal attacks caused friction among the members. Glen you never allowed these situations to take a hold. This site has always been about our love of fishing and nothing else. I thank you for your vision, and your love of the sport. God bless, and many more years at the controls!❤️❤️❤️❤️

Great write up. I’ve learned a lot on this site and I know I’m going to learn a lot more.

I love how in the pic it looks like you’re holding a shotgun over your shoulder, only to realize it’s a baitcaster…you could easily photoshop a gun in there and land in Garden and Gun with that mustache…

Ha ha! Ya, you're right! The funny (dumb) thing is the photographer took what seemed like 4,000 pics of me (no joke: 2hrs of shooting pics), and we were just talking after we finished. I was standing like that and he said, "Oh! Stay like that! That's a great shot! Lemme grab my camera."

They ended up using that shot. LOL!
